Foosball HD Review

iPad Only App $2.99 Our Review By Kevin Stout on April 23rd, 2012 Rating: :: SCORE! Foosball HD is a foosball game with multi-touch controls for the iPad (iPhone version available). Developer: Price: $2.99 Version Reviewed: 1.3.0 Device Reviewed On: iPad (third generation) Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: I used to have a foosball table. And like most overly energetic kids would, I constantly broke the little men on the rods by turning them too violently trying to defeat my little brother. Luckily, I don’t have to worry about breaking anything in Foosball HD. The controls aren’t intuitive enough to make me feel like I’m playing a real game of foosball, but it’s close. It took me a while to get used to swiping the opposite way I wanted the guys on the rods to spin, but I understand the reasoning. To Read More
Apple showcases apps ready for the retina iPad
Calendar16 Fri, 16 Mar 2012 16:15:32 UTC +00:00
Apple wants you to enjoy that brand new retina iPad and has compiled a list of apps that are ready for the high-resolution display. It includes many of the big-name apps that were quick to get their app updated after Apple’s iPad announcement last week. The list includes entertainment apps, productivity apps, games, and more. Kelly spent the last three years covering mobile technology at places like BGR, Gizmodo and The Unofficial Apple Weblog. Before writing, she spent a few years working with and teaching others how to use Adobe Flash and Macromedia Director. Even earlier than that, she spent six years working on her Ph.D in Microbiology. When she's not writing, she can be found fishing the lakes and hiking the mountains of Western Maine with her husband and children. Read More
posted by Joe Rossignol on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 7:45 am.   The new iPad’s crystal clear Retina display is arguably the greatest feature of Apple’s new tablet, so you’ll definitely want to check out the early collection of apps that have been updated to work at the higher resolution. Gizmodo has pieced together a list of iPad apps and games that are deemed “Retina Ready,” ranging from Twitter and Tweetbot to Infinity Blade 2 and Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation. Check out the full list just ahead, and post in the comments if you know of any other App Store titles that take advantage of the extra pixels… Read More

It's iPad day and many of you are looking for the best Retina-capable apps to install on your new Apple tablet. Apple's got you covered with a section of the iTunes app store dedicated to apps updated to support the iPad's new retina display. Apple's list will get you started, but it isn't exhaustive and only includes major apps like Tweetbot and Evernote. There are many other retina-ready apps that are not being showcased by Apple. We won't be able to list every single retina app in the App Store, but we will cover some of our favorites below. If there are any that we have missed, please let us know in the comments! And here is the list from Apple: Read More
List of Games Updated for the New iPad Retina Display
Calendar16 Fri, 16 Mar 2012 11:00:38 UTC +00:00
Arguably the biggest addition to this year's version of the iPad (or at least, the most immediately noticeable one) is the inclusion of a Retina Display screen that ups the resolution to a monstrous 2048 x 1536. As anybody who has upgraded from an older device to an iPhone 4 or an iPhone 4S, you know that the Retina Display screen is a stunning upgrade in person and makes all other mobile device screens look inferior in comparison. Such is the case with the new iPad's fancy screen, it really needs to be seen to be believed. For anybody upgrading to a new iPad today, or if this is your first foray into the world of the iPad, then chances are you're interested in having the games that can show off the new screen as you gloat to your friends. Here we've compiled a list of games that have been updated Read More

Apparently Walmart will be selling them in just a few short hours, well before Apple itself does tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, the first direct-to-consumer shipments should be hitting anytime now. Long story short, a lot of people are going to be getting the new Retina display iPad over the next several hours. Unsurprisingly, the Retina-ready apps are already flowing in. Review: Foosball for the iPhone
Calendar16 Thu, 15 Jul 2010 02:40:52 UTC +00:00
posted by Trey Trawick on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 7:40 pm.   Illusion Labs, the company that created Sway, Touchgrind, and Labyrinth, has just released a new game called Foosball. As the name implies, it is a mobile version of the popular table soccer game, and is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The game has both single-player and local multiplayer, but hopefully Illusion Labs will consider adding online play in the future. There are three difficulty settings to choose from: easy, medium, and hard. The AI is good enough to give Spain a run for their money, and I only managed to get past their goalie once. And that was on easy. Playing local multiplayer can get pretty cramped on the 3.5 inch iPhone screen, but it is fine on the larger iPad. The graphics look amazing, and take full advantage of the hardware on newer devices. The game has excellent Read More
Back at WWDC we got a first look at Illusion Labs' iPad game, Foosball HD [$2.99]. At our party during the event, Anders Mårtensson of Illusion Labs whipped out his iPad and the game had a constant crowd around it with people taking turns playing, with others huddled around cheering. It wasn't hard at all to recommend picking up Foosball HD in our review, as iPad gaming really seems to be at its best when playing a two player game with both players using the same device. The iPhone version, simply titled Foosball [99¢] hit the App Store today which aside from the smaller screen plays identical to the iPad game. Foosball is controlled by swiping on either side of the screen near the foosmen you want to move or rotate. There is a basic single player mode where you can play against an AI opponent, but the game truly shines Read More

Posted 06/22/2010 at 4:30pm | by Nic Vargus Welcome to our brand new weekly column. Every Tuesday, we’ll march through the mediocre multiplayers, sift through the sordid sporting titles, and pound through the petty platformers to find the best, most interesting iOS gaming gems. We’re kicking things off with five terrific new releases, and be sure to come back next week and every week to spare yourself the hassle of sifting the App Store’s latest game releases.    Let’s take a look at some solid App Store offerings from this week. $2.99Illusion LabsiPad Foosball is hard. Really, really hard. Especially when you’re exceptionally bad at it. That’s why we werent surprised when we got smoked (0-5) in our first game. The second game, we put up a little more of a fight, before losing a close 0-5 match. So everyone’s not a natural foosballer, but what’s cool about Foosball HD is that Read More
WWDC 2010: Illusion Labs' Foosball HD
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 15:00:00 UTC +00:00
I finally got to meet up with the guys from Illusion Labs at WWDC last week. I've been writing about their apps for a little while (their most popular title is Touchgrind, but I really enjoyed Sway as well), so it was great to meet them in person and talk about what they've been up to on the App Store. Their latest app is Foosball HD, a very well-polished and intuitive foosball table for the iPad. It's their first original iPad venture (they brought Labyrinth and Touchgrind over right at launch), and they said that foosball was an idea that vibed well with their theme of making metaphorical games -- "we make more simulators than games," they told me. The app is clean and easy to play, and there are even little touches like projected shadows below the figures and some physics on the ball that Illusion was very proud to Read More

Foosball HD from Illusion Labs Released
Calendar16 Mon, 14 Jun 2010 13:40:01 UTC +00:00
By Jeff Scott on June 14th, 2010 It's the World Cup, on your iPad. Well, sorta. The latest game from Illusion Labs, the app masters behind Best App Ever winner Labyrinth 2 and nominees TouchGrind and Sway have released a tabletop Foosball game for the iPad. Just in time to relive the USA vs. England World Cup match the way it should have ended. I got a chance to play a the game during WWDC while the guys were here in SF. It’s a fun and very natural feeling game for the iPad. Simplified a little for the screen, each player has fewer bars and players to control. The ball movement is particularly well done as is the lighting on the players. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of complexity possible in the shots. The game works either as a single or multiplayer game, but as with most games, it’s Read More
Foosball HD released

By Nigel Wood, UKfor www.touchgen.com Published: June 12, 2010 Comment         Kill time between World Cup matches with this accurate Foosball simulator for iPad.. As most of the world know’s, the tournament of all tournaments begun this week, that’s right, the World Cup. The big game today is England Vs USA (which I predict as 1-0 to England), while you wait for your own countries game to start their campaign to glory, why not indulge in a spot of classic Foosball? Illusion Labs of Labyrinth and TouchGrind fame have released Foosball HD, a highly accurate simulation of the classic table football. It offers both single player against the computer or two player. It takes a little getting use to not have full tactile control over the player rods, but after that it’s great fun, particularly with another human. Now all you have to do is argue over the no spin Read More
'Foosball HD' for iPad – Smack Talk Optional
Calendar16 Fri, 11 Jun 2010 21:29:16 UTC +00:00
Illusion Labs' latest iPad game Foosball HD just went live on the App Store after a quick approval process. We previewed the game earlier this week at WWDC. Focused around a multi-touch interface, the Foosball HD allows two players to compete with each other on a virtual foosball table. Each player has control of their respective players and can move their men using simple swipe controls. Forward and Back move the players horizontally on the field while Left and Right spin them in the appropriate direction. We had a great time playing Foosball HD at WWDC as did many others. Illusion Labs' Anders Mårtensson had the game in tow at our TouchArcade developer mixer last night and the game had a constant crowd around it, yelling and cheering for goals. While the game comes with a single player mode, the multi-player is where the game shines. With familiar gameplay, solid controls Read More
Illusion Labs’ Foosball HD For iPad Now Available
Calendar16 Fri, 11 Jun 2010 21:01:14 UTC +00:00
Illusion Labs, the talented team behind hits such as Labyrinth 2 HD and Touchgrind HD, have just released Foosball HD.  Now footy fans can fill in their free time between World Cup matches by taking on their friends in a game of digital foosball. As we described just yesterday, Foosball HD brings everyone’s favorite bar game to the iPad.  It features stunning graphics, realistic sound effects, true physics, single and two-player modes, and intuitive and responsive controls. Players are controlled by a simple touch and drag mechanic, where all you have to do is touch the screen in the general area of a bar and you will be able to slide and spin it with little effort.  The game also supports multi-touch, so you can control multiple bars at once.  You can even have a friend help you control the three bars on your side and play four-on-four on the same device.
