iPhone App Helps Couple Conceive First iBaby
Calendar16 Mon, 25 Jan 2010 19:03:13 UTC +00:00
It seems like the kind of fabricated tale that keeps tabloid rags in business, but the story of 30-year-old Lena Bryce, giving birth to an app-tastic little baby girl after using an iPhone fertility app is true. Lena and Dudley Bryce, tried desperately to conceive a child together for four years. Just as Lena started to lose hope, iPhone entered the picture as a birthday present from her hubby. "Doctors couldn’t find any reason why we hadn’t been able to get pregnant," Lena Bryce told tabloid. "We were considering IVF and adoption when Dudley gave me the iPhone for my 30th. I typed in 'get pregnant' and downloaded five apps." "The Free Menstrual Calendar was easiest to use so I stuck with it and in two months I was pregnant. Now we have our gorgeous daughter and couldn't be happier." Bar manager Dudley added: "I'm over the moon. It's all worked Read More
Woman Uses iPhone App to Get Pregnant
Calendar16 Mon, 25 Jan 2010 15:37:56 UTC +00:00
by After four years of infertility, all it took was a simple download for 30-year-old Lena Bryce to get pregnant, making her the proud mother of Britain’s very first “iPhone baby.” Last week we learned that your iPhone can save your life, this week, it turns out that it can create life as well. Bryce, who desperately wanted a child, told The Sun: “It began to weigh heavily on us. We were considering IVF and adoption when [my husband] Dudley gave me the iPhone for my 30th. I typed in ‘get pregnant’ and downloaded five apps.” The young wife chose The Free Menstrual Calendar [iTunes Link], which highlighted in bright pink her most fertile day. She got pregnant two months after downloading the app, and gave birth on the exact day that it predicted. While congrats are in order for the Bryce family, the whole deal is kind of a head-scratcher. The Big PINK Elephant in the iPod.
AshBox 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm happy that some kind soul finally created a free tracking calendar; It works just fine for those of us who appreciate the ability to plan ahead; I am eternally grateful; yadayadayada - BUT could we please make it less, um, "feminine"? I know that sounds like a contradiction considering, but I'd really like if the app didn't show up "big and bold" as Menstrual Calendar. I know it’s nothing to be ashamed of, yet I'd appreciate this app more if the name and icon were something more discreet.
Love FF, hate this app :(
ColoradoCeliac 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Fertility Friend uses BBT to chart cycles, and I was really hoping they would make an app so I didn't have to log in from my phone to input my temps. Well, this app is nothing like the FF website. You can not customize the chart, and it does not recognize different cycle legnths.
Good but, needs improvement
Heartxmayxfreeze 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
First of all, I want to express how grateful I am that someone made a free menstrual calender. I'm sixteen and it's hard for me to keep track of my cycles and as a pervious iWoman user, it helps me. But it annoys me that (in my opinion) looks kinda crappy design wise. Also there is just a predictor of my cycles and ovulation. I should be able to edit each day of my cycle to write a note or put down that my period was heavy or if I had cramps What would be nice if it was password protected too. EDIT: Once I get enough money to get a iTunes card, I'm going to buy a better period app. I'm sorry, I just don't feel like this will be good at all.
More discreet, please!
Isacelia 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I agree that I would LOVE this app, 5 stars, if only it were more discreet! I don't need everyone who checks out my iPhone to wonder about my period, but I'd love to have the convenience of the app! Even just "my calendar," or something so that know what it is, but doesn't trigger questionable glances if I'm sharing my iPhone. I also would like to see editing options! Thank you, and good first try! I hope to see updates soon!
Doesn't allow variation in cycles
rt207 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I just wanted to keep track of my cycles, but it does not allow a variation of cycle length. I'm normally very regular, but when I need to input a new CD1, it changes all my previous cycles. Not good if you're the least bit irregular with your cycles. Update/edit: thanks for the update to this app! The very day I commented, the update came through. I've come back to change my rating from 2 stars to 5...
Great idea but....
Wolf's Pack 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Without the option for several periods this app bombs for those like myself that always have irregualar periods. I deleted this right after the download. Sorry.
One major flaw
PieceofPi 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love that it's free but you can't track history. My cycle length varies, sometimes it's 30 days, other times up to 45 days. Once I enter in a new cycle it modifies the previous information. This defeats the whole purpose! Can someone please develop a simple calendar where I can just just mark my period?!?
Finally I'm one step ahead
CuttyCut 5.0 stars Version: 2.0.1
For years I have had to figure out if my wife was in a bad mood or just about to begin her cycle. With a quick look at this app I'm always one step ahead of the game. ;)
Not at all like FertilityFriend.com
ScentedLead 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I’ve been looking for a program that uses the principles of Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) and Natural Family Planning (NFP) the way FertilityFriend.com does and this program (as of October 20, 2008) is a disappointment. With no ways to track even the basics — basal body temperature (BBT) and cervical fluid — this application uses nothing more than than the rhythm method. As an application based on the rhythm method, it doesn’t live up to its claim of being “designed to predict your menstrual cycles and possible fertile days.”
Better now.
Jemzy 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
Double tap to your actual start of your period is exactly what I wanted. Thanx.
Great way to track your period!!!
Dalywood 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It is a great to track your period so you won't have unexpected surprises. The calandar will help you plan vacations and you will know exactly when you will get your period. It's free and it is easy to use.
Good App, but password protection a no go!!!
Studmuffin Bailey 1.0 stars Version: 2.2.1
With the recent update for password protection, what happens when you forget the password?? No options are available to reset, guess I will have to delete the App!
Great app
LRBGirl 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
I've always been on the pill and just got off a few months ago. It was right on. And- I just found out that I'm pregnant.
Really good app.
Grouchyt 4.0 stars Version: 2.0.3
I would really like a different icon & password protection. Other than those two things, this is a good app that does what it says it will do.
Has potential
Sandra Ivette 3.0 stars Version: 2.0.3
I like the calendar grid. It does the job of tracking period days, and I like that spotting days are listed with different icons. I would like it to be more discreet, and it would be nice to input symptoms, weight, notes, etc. I'm certain it would come at a price, but being a free application, I'm satisfied with the job.
love it!
Ce-mois 4.0 stars Version: 2.0.3
I love knowing months ahead when I'll be in "those days" and being able to plan accordingly. As far as making it more discrete, just move the app to the second or third screen, you don't HAVE to have it on your home screen people!
User
SeizeTheDayTwo 4.0 stars Version: 2.0.1
I have only just now put my information in but I already miss a notes field. If the screen would flip to show the notes in cronilogical order that would be great.
good free app
buhines 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I use Fertility Friend online and needed a calendar app for my iphone. Although it's not as thorough as the online version it helps to have it on the go.
Nice for free...
HousewifeFromHell 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Nice for free. Would love to b able to show what day period ended on each month. Thx for the app!
Good cycle calendar
LovingMama425 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Does the same thing the one I paid $5 for and for and it's free! I would like to see someone come out with or add BBT tracking to a cycle app. I know fertilityfriend.com's site is capable of this, I would be great if they could add it to this app. It would also be awesome if the site and app were seamless, I'd pay for that! But if all you're looking for is a cycle calendar get this one, don't pay for one.
Why not more like the website?
rathgrith 2.0 stars Version: 2.0.3
I came looking for Fertility Friend expecting more functionality like the website. I'd like to see options for tracking temps, CM, and other fertility signs. Without all the signs, it's all still just sloppy guesswork.
Good but not great...yet!?
Anxiously TTC 3.0 stars Version: 2.0
This is a good app but not great. It would be great if you could enter in different cycle lengths without it altering previous months. Not that great for those of us who have irregular cycles! I would give it 5 stars if it could do that. Please update with that feature. (Love that it's free by the way!)
What I've been looking for
kwicksta 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Does what it says! And it's free- need I say more?
good, simple app
bschendel 4.0 stars Version: 2.2.1
Very simple app, does basically one thing (track when Aunt Flow comes to town) but it does it very well. I recommend it if you aren't looking for anything too fancy.
Great app!!
Falon83 5.0 stars Version: 2.2.1
I like the fact that they answered commonly asked questions in more detail with a quick link to their website.
Simple!
Sissy4444 5.0 stars Version: 3.0
I love this app. It's simple and let's you know past month, recent months, and future. You can also keep up with your sex life, and it's password protected.
good app
ermoza 5.0 stars Version: 3.0

2 thumbs up!
aKnits 5.0 stars Version: 3.0
I have used a number of different apps that track the menstrual cycle and this one is the best. You can record days of flow, heaviness of flow, get predicted dates of ovulation and next menstrual cycle start date. Took me a little time to figure out how to enter info. There are lots of physiology tips if one is interested. Haven't found any problems with this.
Exactly what I've been waiting for...

TeesaD1 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
Thanks alot for given out my email to a bunch of spammers! No sooner than you got my email I got blasted with junk mail! And you don't read to well because I strictly said DO NOT send me anything about getting pregnant because I only wanted a place to record my periods, as a 43 grandmother I will not be getting pregnant, what did you do send me 4 emails about how to find your fertile time of the month, what a bunch of junks that DO NOT hear what people are saying!
PISSED OFF!
BearFare18 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
after the last update I lost 2 years worth of data!
Update actually worked - finally!!
jnk4 3.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
8.9.10 latest update fixed password problem AND restored all my info, including notes. thank the lord. now if only they can make this app look pretty. Please hire a designer! the colors and interface is awful. - - - review before latest update:lost over a year of data due to new update. Latest update DID NOT fix missing data as promised. trying to conceive and can't believe this app crapped out and lost all my info! sooo utterly upset. switching to the "what women want" app. would give this app ZERO star if I could! USELESS piece of crap!!
Uh oh...
J.S.H-T 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
After 13 months of successfully using this app and the rhythm method, I synched and somehow (SOMEHOW) disabled the fertility feature. Not the best timing (we're marrying in 16 days) but we'll manage. There are apps out there that operate with the fertility feature no matter what. The functionality of this feature is important to avoiders and seekers of babies. It's INSANE the option is there and can fail. Few more days until we find out what out next plan of action is....
Just ok. Incomplete
Amandaconda 2.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
iPeriod is SO much better! It allows for easier input & tracking of a variety of different pertinent information and is by far easier to use requiring no internet connection for setup or anything else. Coming from using that app to giving this one a try, I was extremely disappointed!
Nope, update still didn't fix
Westbr00k 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
This app is sooo frustrating! Every update keeps getting worse. I know its free. But this company shouldn't make an app that people rely on, then turn into crap. Don't download this app!So frustrating!Every time you exit the app, you have to close it out of the multi task bar...if you don't then the next time you open the app - NO data will be there. Very annoying! Also it's rather dumb and useless once it goes to pregnancy mode and you can't save any data in pregnancy mode?! Do not get this awful app!!!!!!!
I would be lost without this app!
LnSD 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
Very comprehensive and easy to use. Great place to store info you need to conceive and for upcoming doctors visits. So helpful!
Needs to be updated!!
techmom3 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
I updated iPhone yesterday and now my app is jacked!! It would be helpful if I could enter my privacy code to enter the application. But for some reason I can only see 1/2 the keyboard for this application. My application is now rendered useless
Doesn't work
Guss4116 1.0 stars Version: 5.0.6
Can't get passed the first day of last period in initial set up. Says incorrect code...useless app.
Awesome
