The flexible Fuze Meeting web conferencing platform already had a very solid iOS story, with the ability to schedule and start meetings from the iPad (including multiparty HD videoconferencing). Now, with the recently released version 4.0 of the app, the company is building a bridge to corporate high-end conferencing gear. The new app is compatible with Fuze's Hosted Telepresence Connect service, which allows iPad users to join in videoconference sessions with high-end installed systems from Cisco, Polycom, LifeSize and other vendors. These enterprise conferencing room systems don't come cheap, but adding the iPad clients into the mix expands their flexibility and may increase their utilization. (If you have to ask: the Telepresence Connect service starts at US$2,000 a month for connection to three endpoint systems.) In addition to the big-ticket feature, the new app version also includes the ability to start a meeting recording from the iPad, touch annotation of shared Read More
Apple to acquire Chomp app search platform
Calendar16 Fri, 24 Feb 2012 02:40:00 UTC +00:00
Having an App Store means never having to say "Sorry, there's no app for that" -- or at least not very often. With the massive success of the iOS App Store, however, there's also a discoverability problem: how do you find the apps you need? Searching by name or keyword doesn't always help, and some gems may be hiding just around the next page of results. The search tool Chomp, available currently for both iOS and Android, aimed to change that equation. Via the company's app or web tool, you can search for apps by what they do rather than what they're called. A proprietary algorithm digs into the app descriptions, reviews and capabilities to figure out what makes an app useful, and then exposes that analysis to eager app searchers and would-be purchasers. Such a capability, if it worked as advertised, would be very valuable. Seems like it does work Read More
By Jennifer Allen on February 21st, 2012 Simple to use yet powerful. FaceTime is great for casual video conferencing use but for more professional purposes, a dedicated solution is a better idea. That’s precisely where Fuze Meeting HD enters the equation. Initially free, Fuze Meeting HD offers online meetings and audio conferencing between two participants. In-app purchases priced at $29.99 or $69.99 then unlocks the ability to communicate with more participants at once. With the iPad 2, live video can be sent during a video conference with everything viewable in HD. PowerPoint and Keynote presentations can be added, along with Word documents, PDFs and images all possible to add to the Fuze Meeting content library. Meetings can all be simply arranged via the iPad address book for further useful functionality. When in a call, it’s easy to zoom and pan in, and it’s especially handy to be able to close the Read More
Holiday Gift Guide: iPad apps & accessories for business
Calendar16 Sat, 17 Dec 2011 20:00:00 UTC +00:00
From one-person shops to giant enterprises, if businesses agree on anything right now it's "iPad Yay." The Apple tablet hasn't even reached the terrible twos yet, but it's clearly making its presence felt across countless verticals and different industries. For at least a couple of mobile professional writers (who might have been termed "ink-stained wretches" in times gone by), the iPad's capability as a writing tool has led it to largely replace their laptops for day-to-day work. While consumers may be the drivers behind most iPad sales, chances are that the iPad-toting professional on your gift list is using his or her iPad for a combination of personal enjoyment and work tasks, so why not find a gift that supports and extends the biz savvy of everyone's favorite quasi-computer? Here's our brief list of gift ideas that you could conceivably write off on your taxes. Cloudy Days If your business iPad Read More
The latest Apple iPad ad has appeared, and although slightly sappy in places, is a far better effort than their previous hit and miss efforts.  The advert implies the iPad will integrate itself in our lives to the extent where it’ll replace everything from a pen-and-paper to the TV. While starting any sentence with ‘we’ll always’ just makes me want to finish it with ‘have Paris’, the ad’s title tells watchers that they’ll carry on doing the same things, but with the iPad.  For example, it uses the phrase ‘We’ll always cook dinner and cheer for our favorite team’, and finishes with ‘But how we do all this will never be the same’. It’s a very strong message, and makes the iPad desirable, futuristic and for the first time in ages in an Apple ad, useful too.  It’s also great to see ‘real world’ use rather than boring specification talk!  There Read More

FuzeBox has announced that their Fuze Meeting line of software will be getting updates to support HD video conferencing for up to 10 people across all platforms that support Fuze Meeting, including iOS. One of the problems with digital video has been the wide variety of codecs making device interoperability a challenge. Even minor differences in software can make a video work on one platform and not on the other – and these problems are not just limited to recorded video, even live video sharing has been problematic, as a wide variety of OSes and protocols exist for live video sharing, and unifying all of these platforms can be a challenge. There may be one interesting solution, primarily for business users, that is coming out soon. FuzeBox, creators of the Fuze Meeting application, have announced that they’re releasing an update to Fuze Meeting that will enable support for HD videoconferencing with Read More

Awsome tool !
nabekao 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I have known about fuze for a while, this iPad implementation is awesome. The nice integration with box.net, great voip integration , ease of use, they know what they are doing . A few enhancements I wish to see is 1) ability to grab users (pull) not just audio by making a call. 2) enhancement for annotation tool (currently it is just a pointer) 3) more intuitive flow to add contents incl. Pull from box.net Overall, fuze HD should satisfy most people.
Warning iOS 4.2 Beta Testers!
MacDaddy0229 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Warning from Fuze Meeting: If you are beta testing iOS 4.2, be aware version 1.1 and 1.2 of our app will not be compatible. We are working on a fix for submission in the next few weeks. To the developer who gave us a 1 star rating because we are not compatible with an unreleased iPad OS, you should know better. If you are a developer and feel the same way, please mark this review as helpful!

IMsurfer 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Everything works as claimed. Only problem was voip on a dodgy 3G connection, but once the signal improved it was very good. Would love to see annotation from the iPad, but otherwise this is a great meeting app.
Creepy

I used to use web ex but I would struggle use it on my iPad. Fuze has nailed the video quality, content sharing and annotations. I was able to bring my Polycom in too. Call a rep to get the full features. The free trial that comes with the app has none of the cool tools. I got a week free of the full version.Love it!!!
Great Update
iOSguru2007 5.0 stars Version: 4.2
The free app is awesome - 1 on 1 with HD content and audio. I opted to buy the Pro version so you can video conference. It's $69/month but called in and got a deal.I'm getting my whole company to switch from Webex too!

jvacademy 5.0 stars Version: 4.2
Finally a solution to host a meeting from my iPad and be able to share content with my attendees...whether it be pictures, documents or video.Used gotomeeting in the past and fuzemeeting offers so much more and at much better quality. I would highly recommend this application and service to anyone who needs to communicate with their team, but wants to avoid having to travel to meetings. This application gives me the freedom I have been looking for
