Spokko‘s Geometry Wars-like arcade game, geoFighter, is available for free today as part of the ongoing FreeAppADay.com promotion. geoFighter is basically a Geometry Wars clone, but that isn’t a bad thing. In the game you will be piloting a spaceship using two on-screen joysticks. The left joystick controls the ship’s movement while the right controls the direction of movement and fire. The goal of the game is to wrack up as many points as possible before submitting to your enemies. You will accomplish that by dodging a wide variety of geometrical enemies and picking up power-ups that give you weapon upgrades. Fantastic Design, Controls, and Gameplay

I've played a lot of great survival shooters (spheroids belowscape, nano fighter, blue attack), but this one takes the cake. It has multiple weapons, powerups, global high scores, strategic ways to kill enemies, and a great techno soundtrack. One thing that could be better is to have brighter, more neon colors. The colors currently could be much brighter. That's my only complaint, which is no excuse why you shouldn't buy this for a dollar. 5  

Yes it only has one gameplay mode, but that's sort of the beauty of the game. It doesn't try to throw a whole bunch of features at you in an attempt to hide so-so gameplay. Instead it does it's one game mode AMAZINGLY WELL. Controls are fluid and work great. Other shooters I've noticed screen stutter and random slow downs. None found here. I came across this game by accident but it's so good that I had to write a review in the hopes more people will get it. If you're a fan of tight controls and fast gameplay you'll love this game.

I picked this game up off of raves on a message board, and it's been one of my happiest surprise buys. This is what a "pick up and play" game truly should be. When gameplay is simple like this, it's all about presentation, and this hits it out of the park! Bright, vibrant colors, great sounds and music, beautiful control system, and tons of powerups mean a very satisfying experience. And don't even get me started about the bomb effect...tons of fun, get it!

I love Geometry Wars and bought this game hoping it would be closer to that game than Nano Fighter, but was disappointed to find that the resemblance to the former is very superficial. The biggest con to this game is that the screen is cluttered with arrows indicating the direction of off-screen enemies, yet are self-defeating due to being easily confused with enemy bullets.

update: please fix the bugz, this is the first game that will do a hard reset to my phone at loading screen, i dont touch anything and 1 out of three times the phone will just shut down and restart on its own when i launch this game. and the cntrls seem to have a few dead spots, the ship seems to struggle getting out of corners, yet perfect when in the center of the screen, also after a certain point, i can understand no more weapon upgrades, but no more lives or super stars, C'mon atleast in nano you can still keep getting shields and bombs. so please add the ability for infinite bombs and sheild, and super stars, and fix the bugs please still a great game, and even with the bugs and lack of infinite play potintial its still a toss up between nano and "LW" i know i say LG in the rest of the rev sorry

An action packed dual-stick shooter

The controls are very smooth, the action is fast, the graphics are bright and crisp, the sound effects are very arcade, and the background music has a nice techno beat. Unlike Nano Figher, this game does not experience any graphical lag which is a big plus. If you're looking for a fun dual stick shooter, then this is a great choice. There are just a couple of areas of polish needed to make this absolutely perfect, but as it is now the game is a very entertaining bang for your buck.

you really can't go wrong with this or nano fighters. both have the same setup but only differ visually for the most part. light wars lays on the powerups early and you're confined to a box whereas nano makes you progress slowly and you're free to move anywhere. if I had to choose, I'd pick light wars simply for the great presentation. by suggestion is to lower the frequency of the powerups that appear and to make the bullets slightly larger to better hit the yellow bullets

Mini geo wars is a must!

This is a great app that captures all the fun of geometry wars onto your iTouch. There are a few things that would be great to update though. Make the controls clear so enemies don't pop up out of nowhere, be able to see more of the global highscores (like maybe until 100), and make an option to have less of a shake to use a bomb. In the higher rounds, at about +200,000, it is really hard to use a bomb because you have to shake the iTouch so much, and it quite often ends up killing me.
