Android users can share their location with Facebook friends and allow them to track real-time movement over a predetermined time period. Redmond-based location-sharing startup Glympse has updated its apps for iPhone and Android to give users the option of automatically showing a dynamic, live map of their location to their Facebook friends. The new feature expands the service beyond its existing distribution channels of email, Twitter and text messages. It also puts Glympse out in front of Facebook's own plans. The popular social networking service has signaled its intent to integrate location-sharing as a native feature of the site, but it hasn't been rolled out yet. Recent tracking problems; up until now was great I used Glympse every day for several months and found it very useful. Recently, however, it began 'placing' me in another state or in the middle of places where there were no roads, or traveling at speeds over 200mph. Now that I have Gingerbread on my Nexus One, I can't get it to even hold my GPS signal beyond a few hundred yards. I don't know if it's a phone problem or an app problem. But I hope to keep using it once that issue is resolved.

lots of bling, but missing features This CAN be a cool app, but like an Apple product, it assumes that the user doesn't want control of his or her own device & software. 1st issue: Why can't I show my location as long as I want? It's my choice, and if I want my favorite stalker to see me 24/7, then let me. 2nd: I would like to see my track and statistics later. Maybe I would like to compare two routes or trips, or maybe I just enjoy wasting my time looking where I've been, or where my stalkee has been. -3 stars for developer arrogance.

Glympse is rock solid and I like how it's available for all of the major phone platforms. No account sign up or anything like that. Easy to use + very accurate. I had continual issues with Latitude which caused me to look elsewhere. Google, I love you, but Latitude is lacking. Badly. Glympse fills in all the gaps + far far more. Terrific job devs!

Awesome app -- this Solves The Problem of meeting up w/ friends. No more multiple texts and phone calls and not quite finding each other -- just glympse and meet. Set an expiration time and there's no worries about privacy. I know exactly when to head down stairs to meet my friend outside. And you can send a glympse to someone who does not have the app -- they just need a web browser to track you. Only down side is that the heave GPS and network usage runs down the battery FAST.

You're a troll, an idiot, lazy, or some combination of the three: it says right in the "What's New" section that they just added the ability to send a Glympse to all the participants in a calendar event... think that might be the reason for the calendar permission? Glympse was one of the first Android apps, they've been in the Android Market since late 2008 without any privacy-related incidents that I know of. Calm down.

Was on my way to a client's yesterday, called him and told him I was sending a Glympse and then headed out. Thought I knew how to get to his place but then a few blocks from there I pulled over to get my GPS revved up and he noticed I was near and stopped on a side street so he called me and told me how to get there. I'm sure there's better uses for this, but so far my other fav use is to let me wife know I'm on my way home and she can see how close or far I am from getting there. Glympse is fun, cool and their website based map tracking is awesome, thank you for this stellar FREE service!

Simply awesome! And really free, no b.s. with this app. And it's not stalker like unless that's what you use it for. Honestly if you have to stalk your loved one then that means you have no trust and its time to call it quits. I picked kup a drunk friend of mine the other night who had no idea where as he was so ii told her to glymps me and stay put. I found her instantly and she made it home safe. My wife like it cause she can see when I'm gonna be home and dinner is always hot. Darn good app. I must say.

It worked better than I had expected based on my experience with similar apps. The time limit feature makes it far less creepy to use, because you can't accisentally leave it running. Sometimes the tracking gets choppy but sometimes it is completely real time. Very fun app. My little brother sends me a glympse when he drives home from school. Another great part is that you can pull up their glympse in a web browser for a better viewing experience.

I was morning my beloved pooch at the same time good friends were moving from virginia it to wyoming. It was incredible to be able to follow them each step of the way knowing how fast they were going, what they were seeing, and stopping with them wherever they did-& seeing their pictures. The trip took several days and being able to travel vicariously with them and their 2 tweeting dogs kept me distracted at a time when I was most vulnerable and I had a blast. I love this program.

Before Glympse, I used to send a text when I left my house to meet someone. Then I'd get stuck in traffic, or in a conversation in front of my house, and end up leaving/getting there later than I had anticipated. Then I discovered Glympse. I began to send limited access to my route and location to the person or people I was meeting. This eliminated the need to text again if I experienced a delay. Glympse gives limited access to whoever you choose, to your current whereabouts, in real time. The receiver has access to not only where you are, but also to the speed you're traveling, particularly handy if you're stuck in traffic. You set the amount of time the person will have access to this information. Once the max is hit, they can no longer see where you are. The window simply "expires." Some have complained of the app freezing or simply not updating, this is true although I've found that if you remind the receiver to update/refresh their window, it goes 'live' again. For me, I've encountered this glitch when sending from ANDROID ==> iPhone. Overall, I think this is an almost perfect app who's multiple uses I'm still discovering.
