Homescreens – Oktober 2011 (iPhone + iPad)
Calendar16 Mon, 17 Oct 2011 09:09:11 UTC +00:00
Außerdem verstecken sich in Read More

TiPb Picks of the Week for September 24, 2011
Calendar16 Sat, 24 Sep 2011 21:40:55 UTC +00:00
By Leanna Lofte, Saturday, Sep 24, 2011 | Every week a few of us from team TiPb will bring you our current favorite, most fun and useful App Store apps, WebApps, jailbreak apps, even the occasional accessory, web site, or desktop app if the mood strikes us. As long as they’re iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch related, they’re fair game. To see what we picked, and to tell us your pick, follow on after the break! When the apps started flowing for Google Voice, we couldn’t get enough of them. But the fervor died down, and we haven’t heard anything about them in a while, so I thought I’d revisit my most used of the Google Voice apps. I’m a huge GV user, and use it primarily for my students. They can use my GV number as a homework help line, to answer bonus questions, or to call in speaking assignments. Read More

Alaska Airlines Replaces Flight Manuals With iPads
Calendar16 Tue, 31 May 2011 16:15:49 UTC +00:00
by First it was schools and universities, and now airlines are substituting iPads for sizeable amounts of paper documents. Last week, Alaska Airlines announced its intentions to replace pilots’ 25-pound paper flight manuals with iPads by mid-June. Alaska Airlines is the first major domestic airline to do so. The initiative will “enhance flight safety, improve efficiency and protect the environment,” the company believes. Pilots will receive iPads preloaded with GoodReader, a PDF reader application that will contain all of the necessary flight documents. The documents have been upgraded with color graphics and hyperlinks for better reference. Gary Beck, Alaska Airlines vice president of flight operations, said the airline had been “exploring the idea of an electronic flight bag for several years” but, until the iPad, had “never found a device we really liked.” Read More

10 Things You Never Knew You Could Do On Your iPad
Calendar16 Fri, 08 Apr 2011 18:40:32 UTC +00:00
What is usually the first thing everyone that gets a new iPad wants to know? Which apps to get. But there are still some cool things that you can do with your iPad, even without buying a single app.  I’m not talking about well-known features like Multitasking, Folders, Airplay, Airprint, or even the new HD Mirroring capability of the iPad 2. Instead, here are ten, hidden in plain sight, secret features of the iPad 2. You maybe aware of one or two, but let’s see if you knew about all ten. There are several ways you can access your media collection from your iPad.  The first and easiest is to sync your library from iTunes.  However, if you have enabled Home Sharing in iTunes on your Mac, you can also access your entire iTunes Library on your Mac while connected to the same Wi-Fi network.  To access your Home Sharing library from the iPad Read More
Bringing Your New iPad 2 to Work
Calendar16 Fri, 18 Mar 2011 22:20:33 UTC +00:00
As most companies have looked to cut costs any way they could, the result has been a workforce equipped with underpowered devices, plastic enclosures and an outdated mobile paradigm that require most users to carry around a mouse and power cord to be of any real use.  Most business users have simply had enough, and for a very affordable price, are starting to fund their own IT revolution by bringing their new iPads to the workplace. Here’s how you can do the same. Getting a new iPad 2 is only half the battle.  Once you’re at work, before you can reclaim the time you once lost to reboots or hunting for the one free power outlet in the conference room, you realize you need to get connected to the corporate network.  For the most part, establishing a new connection to your place of work’s wireless network is quite easy.  If you’re Read More
Wither iPad? A Testimonial On Its Usefulness
Calendar16 Tue, 08 Mar 2011 17:45:00 UTC +00:00
(image source: Apple, Inc) With the release of the iPad 2, there has been a lot of commentary on the overall usefulness of the iPad. Even amongst the iSource staff, there is some debate as to whether or not the iPad is a truly useful device, or merely an expensive toy. Here’s my take. When the iPad was announced a year ago, I had no plans at all to buy it. Like many others, I concluded that it was little more than a large iPod Touch; and I simply didn’t see a need for one, especially considering that I had a perfectly usable iPhone. When my friend Mike got one, I played around with it a bit; but ultimately, I came to the same conclusion – a big iPod. Much later, when I started traveling for work again, I finally realized how useful the iPad could be and decided to take Read More
GoodReader for iOS update now provides Auto Sync
Calendar16 Mon, 14 Feb 2011 21:00:00 UTC +00:00
GoodReader, the popular document reader for iOS devices, has been updated to include auto syncing with iDisk, Dropbox, SugarSync or any WebDAV or FTP server. Users are now able to download documents and/or entire folders full of documents and mark them to automatically synchronize across all remote servers, making sure that anyone with access sees only the most up-to-date document versions. Supported document types include .pdf, .txt, .doc, html, images, audio/video files and even those from iWork '08 and '09. Good.iWare president Yuri Selukoff said that "this entire update to GoodReader is dedicated to the 'Live on the cloud' idea," and I'm so thankful for that. I have been using GoodReader on my iPhone for quite some time now, and it has definitely helped me out of many a jam when working remotely on documents with co-workers. It's also popular with the TUAW staff here, as our own Victor Agreda, Jr. Read More
App Update: GoodReader Adds Syncing Options
Calendar16 Mon, 14 Feb 2011 15:56:21 UTC +00:00
posted by D. St. Charles on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 7:56 am.   GoodReader for iPad is a favorite PDF reader. Not only is it easy to use, with a host of features, it is continually being updated and improved. The newest added features revolve greatly around the ability to move documents to the cloud, although some usability and performance issues have also been addressed. Users can now choose to upload not only files but entire folders to a mail server, MobileMe iDisk, Google Docs, Drop Box, SugarSync, box.net, any WebDAV server or FTP server. Just add the server, then choose which files to sync. However, as good as it sounds, it does not work as well in practice. I tried numerous times to set up a file in Google Docs for syncing and wound up with multiple copies of a file in multiple locations, but could not get the Read More
Apple's All-Time Top 10 Paid iPad Apps
Calendar16 Fri, 21 Jan 2011 17:30:00 UTC +00:00
Earlier today, we looked at some of the top free iPad Apps. The list was composed of the 10 most downloaded free iPad Apps of all time. Now, it's time to have a look at the top 10 paid iPad Apps of all time. Hit the jump to see list:   1) SoundHound  -$4.99 This App will identify a song by simply having you play it into the speaker or even hum the tune if you'd like. It's interesting how it works, and so long as you can hum somewhat in tune and rhythm, you should be able to get the name of the song.   2) StickWars - 99 cents StickWars is a simple little game in which you must defend your castle walls against the oncoming army of stick figures. The game becomes increasingly hard, but never ends. You can capture enemy stick figures and have them join your ranks. Read More
HDMI Adaptor for iPhone 4 and iPad Appears in Japan
Calendar16 Wed, 29 Dec 2010 11:28:09 UTC +00:00
If you want to connect your iPhone 4 or more likely, your iPad, to your HDTV, but don’t own an Apple TV to take advantage of Airplay, then this little gadget will probably be of interest.  Made by Sanwa, it’s an HDMI adaptor which plugs into the 30-pin connector. Once you’ve connected the HDMI lead, you’ll be able to send 720p-quality video files to your TV, or any file playable by GoodReader.  Great though this is, you can also play Keynote presentations this way too, making it ideal for business use. The Sanwa HDMI adaptor is only available in Japan at the moment, and you’ll have to read Japanese to find it on their site.  The price is on the high side too, at 5980 yen, or $73/£55. Read More
The best Mac and iOS apps I used in 2010
Calendar16 Tue, 28 Dec 2010 01:00:00 UTC +00:00
Following up on my article about the best Mac apps I used in 2010, here are some of the best hybrid "Mac and iOS apps" I used in 2010. This wasn't an attempt to come up with a specific number, just the results of some careful reflection. You may wonder why some apps appear on this list instead of the Mac list. For example, Dropbox has an iOS app, why not add it here? Because my primary use of Dropbox is on the Mac. Yes I use it with iOS, but it's usually through another app that is syncing back to my Mac. On the other hand, using OmniFocus for iPad (our review) led to me using OmniFocus for Mac more, so I put OmniFocus on this list. All that is to say, these are my distinctions, and you are free to disagree with them. 1) myPhoneDesktop (or MPD) is a Read More
Homescreens – Dezember 2010 (iPhone + iPad)

Außerdem verstecken sich innerhalb der Ordner folgende Apps*: Amazon.de (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Convertbot (1.59 €; App Store-Link), AnalyticsPro (5.49 €; App Store-Link), Delivery Status touch (3.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), Dropbox (kostenlos; universal; App Store-Link), iCabMobile (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Skype (kostenlos; App Store-Link), WeatherPro (2.99 €; App Store-Link), Pastebot (2.99 €; App Store-Link), LogMeIn (23.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), OffMaps (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Kik (kostenlos; App Store-Link), PayPal (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Linkie (0.79 Read More

Posted 10/29/2010 at 8:37am | by David W. Martin This week's tips are all about getting things done on your favorite iOS device. I frequently have people asking me what I am doing with my new toy (i.e. iPad) and when I tell them I'm working, they don't believe me. The truth is that the iPad, or any other iOS device for that matter, can be used for fun, but more importantly you will probably find a use for them at any job. Therefore, after many queries and questions about apps that I use for work, I thought it might be a good time to share some of them with you. So this week, I'll give you four app recommendations that will show you how to add a second display to your Mac, access computers remotely, store and access your data in the cloud, manage and view files of all kinds, Read More

GoodReader is bringing syncing back
Calendar16 Fri, 02 Jul 2010 20:00:00 UTC +00:00
GoodReader was one of a handful of apps which had figured out how to do USB syncing to iPhones, but their solution was in violation of Apple's iPhone SDK rules. Apple eventually required all 3rd party iPhone apps to remove this functionality. Some apps, like GoodReader, could sync via iTunes but it was very limited. Wi-Fi syncing was also an option, but it was slower and prone to configuration issues. GoodReader has released a free utility named GoodReaderUSB which, as the name implies to any who haven't suffered a traumatic blow to the head, allows you to connect to GoodReader via USB. The software is free and available for Windows (XP, Vista, and 7) and Mac OS X (10.4, 10.5, and 10.6). The interface is simple enough, and if you have more than one iDevice you can connect more than one at a time. In my initial testing it worked as Read More

Good.iWare have added only a few but very worthy features to their already highly-adored large PDF and text file viewing app, that make the app even more handy. GoodReader for iPad v2.8 now includes horizontal page turning  – on by default — that’s intended to give a truer book-like reading experience. Adding support for the dock connector to VGA adapter gives you the ability to share those huge documents on an even bigger screen than the iPad’s. And who doesn’t like better performance in their apps? GoodReader for iPad v2.8 adds pre-caching of PDF pages to help make for a smoother and more enjoyable experience. GoodReader for iPad doesn’t just give you a great solution for PDFs and text files. Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Friday, June 4, 2010 Category: iPod, iPhone, and iPad Gems: Apps, Games + More Apple has pitched the iPad as the future of reading—a device capable of transforming everything from web sites to newspapers and magazines into more engaging, “magical” experiences. This week’s edition of iPad Gems looks at four recent App Store releases that each provide hints as to the future of reading on this device, and are notable for that reason, though they all have significant caveats that preclude them from being end-all, be-all solutions. We diverge a bit from our usual format for this roundup, focusing on the promise, the good, and the bad of each app. Our top pick of the bunch is GoodReader, but two of the other applications also receive our general-level recommendation. One district attorney's journey to iPad happiness
Calendar16 Fri, 21 May 2010 20:00:00 UTC +00:00
Let's face it. Apple and the legal profession have not always enjoyed a terribly close relationship. Since the advent of the word processor, being a lawyer practically required a PC. Lawyers' slavish dedication to Corel's Word Perfect, long after everybody else had stopped using it, is the stuff of legend. Database management programs were typically proprietary things, all requiring networks of PCs. Using a Mac in this environment required, at best, many workarounds, and, at worst, a separate PC to access various schedulers, run conflict checks and access documents. Recently, e-filing and the need to share and trade digital documents allowed for greater platform-independence. Macs, iPhones and now iPads claim their share of diehard legal adherents; you can get stories from the front lines of Apple integration in law from sites like The Mac Lawyer, MacAttorney, EsquireMac, the Disability Law Blog and the MacLaw mailing list. Dropbox is getting more serious about its efforts to bring its cloud storage solution to mobile devices. On Tuesday the company is announcing a mobile API for developers to build ties to Dropbox's servers into their own apps, as well as formally launching first-party applications for the iPad and Android and BlackBerry devices. The new mobile API is something Dropbox is calling "Dropbox Anywhere." The company has worked with a number of developers to integrate their apps into the new data pipeline. These include Fuze's FuzeMeeting app, Dictamus, Air Sharing, GoodReader, QuickOffice and Sprite Mobile's backup tool. All of these apps are able to tap into a user's Dropbox storage to fetch data, and save it back without needing to use any of that device's local data. Now any developer will be able to do the same with their own mobile software. Competitor Box.net rolled out something very similar back in Read More

It is upscaled from the iPhone version, but while the interface isn’t radically different this is one case where bigger translates effectively into more and better. The large iPad screen means you get to see your documents on the left and your panels — Preview, Find Files, Manage Files, Web Downloads, Downloads in Progress, Recent Downloads, Connect to Servers — on the right. Tap on a document on the left, including those super-large PDF’s and GoodReader brings it up full screen and in our experience, fast. Now navigating a PDF is a bit of a chore at this point due to the iPhone up/down paradigm being retained, but the developers Read More

7 Essential iPad Productivity Apps

When I got my iPad, I gave myself a mandate: Don’t lug a 5-pound MacBook around; instead, try to make do with the iPad. For the most part, I’ve been successful. My MacBook hasn’t left the house since April 3, and for what I do (writing, reading, video watching), I don’t really need the horsepower all that much. I wouldn’t want to do a day’s work on it, but it’s great for getting work done on the train, on my lunch break, etc. These are the apps I’ve found to be indispensable for getting things done. The iWork Suite: OK, in fairness, everyone who wrote about it wasn’t all that trilled with it. However, I’ve found that it’s currently the best option, which is pretty sad. Office2Pro has potential, but the lack of USB transfer is a turnoff for me. Granted, the lack of MobileMe integration with iWork really makes me wonder what on Read More

6 Best iPad Apps for Business Users
Calendar16 Sun, 18 Apr 2010 16:22:47 UTC +00:00
This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum, where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business. Since the iPad was released, more than 450,000 devices have been sold. While some may decry the lack of a physical keyboard and the App Store ecosystem as reasons why the iPad can’t be used for “real” business work, the truth is, the form factor is perfect for the business professional on the go who doesn’t need to have a full laptop. Pairing an iPad with cloud services is already proving to be a really powerful solution, and the iPad App Store is barely a week old! A few weeks ago I discussed some of my favorite business apps for the iPhone. These are some of the early standouts for the iPad. GoodReader is hands-down, the best PDF reader for the iPhone and the iPad version is Read More
Let’s set aside the question of whether you should get an iPad and suppose you already bought one last weekend. You probably floated home and loaded it with a few whiz-bang apps and maybe even passed it around to your friends. At some point in all the euphoria, you may also have wondered whether this device is just a trophy or something you can actually use. Such self-doubts can be easily cast aside, providing you delve a little more deeply into the App Store than the Top 100 list — and are ready to open the wallet again. If you budget around $100 for a few new and upgraded apps, you can easily make the iPad into much more of a constant companion than something you just trot out when the neighbors are watching. Start with productivity apps, because a mobile device is most valuable when it lets you work anytime, Read More
Five apps I love on my iPad, and three that need more work
Calendar16 Thu, 08 Apr 2010 11:00:00 UTC +00:00
We've had the iPad available for the better part of a week now; here are a few apps that have risen to the top, along with a few more that have sunk to the bottom. 1. GoodReader. Despite Air Sharing going iPad (I had the iPhone version) and MobileStudio providing a nifty universal binary (so the app upscales nicely), I decided to give GoodReader a try. It now sits in my dock. MobileStudio requires FTP, and I wasn't in the mood to drop more cash on AirSharing Pro as I've already spent way too much on apps. I also tried MyPDFs and iPDF but felt they were too limited and rushed to be useful to me. GoodReader, however, hits the spot as a wonderful and capable PDF reader. Plus, it'll read text, image, audio and video files and anything that can be opened by Safari. I'm using GoodReader to manage some Read More
PopCap, BigOven.com among those with top selling iPad apps
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Apr 2010 20:25:09 UTC +00:00
Apple's iPad hasn't even been out a week, so I'll grant you that it is a little early to be doing a deep analysis on who the winners and losers are in the app store. But I was interested to learn that two of the top 25 selling applications for the new touchscreen device -- at least as of this afternoon -- were developed by Seattle startups. PopCap Games currently ranks 14th in the paid apps category for its $9.99 game "Plants vs. Zombies HD." And not too far behind is BigOven, which ranks 24th with its app "170,000 Recipes and Grocery List." "It's pretty early to be touting stats/factoids," said PopCap's Garth Chouteau. "But you could certainly say that between the iPad launch and continuing success of the iPhone adaptation, (Plants vs. Zombies) is our hottest App Store/iTunes product of 2010 -- so far. Not bad considering Bejeweled 2/iPhone continues Read More
Calibre konvertiert Texte ins EPUB-Format
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Apr 2010 21:57:42 UTC +00:00
Was man damit anstellt, bleibt einem selbst überlassen. Als Konkurrent zu iBooks und dem Apple iBookstore steht die Amazon Kindle-Anwendung (kostenlos, universal, App Store-Link) pünktlich an Read More

Excellent!

GoodReader had no problem open up a 70MB, illustration heavy PDF. The true full screen reading format takes full advantage of the iPad screen and makes reading ebook, RPG adventures, and textbooks very easy on the eyes. The reflow support makes standard PDFs act more like iBook, Kindle, and Nook books. A true value added addition to the iPad and Apple should be thankful there are developers like Good.iWare making the product even better. --Scott
What I was looking for.
Zephyrum 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
One of my top 3 (hoped for) applications for the iPad was to read PDF reference manuals, and I was quite disappointed with the built-in Safari reader. And even more disappointed with a "pro" competitor to this app that was "optimized for iPad". $4 down the drain. In contrast, several hours with this app shows it is stable, comprehensive, and well thought out. In a couple areas there are limitations due to the iPad environment and work-arounds are clearly explained in the very good documentation. Recommended!
The best reader for iphone now to iPad
floridamunro 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I didn't try it yet because ipad is not released yet. But now I don't have any excuse not to buy an ipad. This is the best reader on iphone. I loved it and used it all the time with not problem at all. The same app on ipad is a no brainer.
Great application
actionatadistance 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I got this application so I could read physics books that I have in PDF format, which due to the complex equations can't be exported into a text-based eBook format for use with the standard eBook readers in the App Store. Not only does it read the large PDFs flawlessly, it allows easy connection to my iDisk to pull books that I have stored there, and it also has local storage for files that I want with me always (with folder organization as well). The on-screen controls make reading very easy, such as the side-to-side scroll lock that allows you to zoom in on the body of text between the margins and keep it there so scrolling only happens vertically. Great application, seems to be the only one that solves my particular problem. Needs a new icon, though, the green one is pretty ugly.
Even better on an iPad
'O.o' 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have been using this app on the iPhone for some time now, and it's great. It's even better on an iPad. A MUST HAVE app!
Great app for iPad - would like one change...
tsatryan 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love everything about this app - just what I was looking for. I would love to see the ability to swipe pages horizontally, like an eBook, rather than vertically like scrolling.
SLOWWWW!!
lyomi 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
It's PDF loading and scrolling is much slower than ipad safari. Awful reader.
Great tool.
theonlyopinionyouneed 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It took me a few hours to find a decent PDF app for the iPad, but this one surpassed my needs and expectations. I recommend it to anyone who needs serious PDF support on the iPad. My ONLY wish is that I could view the PDF's Table of Contents like on Mac's Preview app but that does affect my review. Enjoy! *Excellent file sync options *Support for multiple file types *Easy to use interface
Best PDF reader for iPad
o-O-Randy-O-o 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been using GoodReader on my iPod for several months and it's been one of my most used apps. It's the first app I bought for my new iPad. If you have PDF textbooks this is the best reader hands down! The only thing missing that would make this app better is CHM support. Thank you to the developer for a great program, I couldn't live without it!
Great reader!
Jpburns 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great PDF reader, with good wifi network features and support for sequential image files. With a little work it could read .cbz files for comic reader capabilities. Get it now while it has .99 cent price- it's a bargain.
Nice!
woodchuck78 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is pretty impressive. This will really help increase my productivity.
An excellent solution for reading PDF books on the iPad
ohokay 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great app, with a solid interface that works exactly as you'd expect. Uploading to your iPad is done by pointing your computers web browser to the address given to you by the app. A web interface then allows you to upload PDFs from there. Works awesome!
Great!
Deipad 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I picked this reader because of price and the site provided very good documentation. I was able to get my apps up on my iPad via wifi with no trouble at all. Works great. Great price
Highly recommended

Very cool app! And it includes all the extra features. The google docs feature is the best.
Better and cheaper than others
jDeppen 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I downloaded GoDocs first and had problems. Then I downloaded this for $0.99 and it works great. I'd would like a preview of the document prior to downloading and a continuous scroll option for PDFs (rather than one page at a time).
Almost perfect!
johann.pascual 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is easy to use and works very well! The only thing I want more is that you guys add a CBR format support. This app is perfect for reading graphic intensive files like comic books. More power, guys!
Amazing product!
Utdeep 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is the best PDF viewer at the iPad launch!
Works great
mobile.me 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I also have a kindle dx and this app blows away reading pdfs. As another reviewer mentioned it would be nice to have swipe to page but the big thing is that images show up correctly and it's fast enough for my reading requirements.
Excellent
curioman 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
After playing with several PDF readers for iPad, I found this and it's perfect for me. Allows me to transfer several files, organize them exactly how I want, and display them beautifully and in proper dimension. I'm very satisfied with this over other products, and it's less expensive to boot. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks!
handled every pdf i threw at it
@jcg1013 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
handled every pdf i threw at it, including password protected PDFs from syngress and apress. however, i wish it had the option to turn the page with side to side swipes instead of just up and down.
Fantastic app! Well worth the money
fixitman222 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app has a ton of features, and works great. Multiple ways to access files, great user interface, well done!
What I needed
bigspum 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It took a few tries to get the first file across- it kept dropping the wifi connection- but after a restart it worked fine. Opened a graphics heavy 150 mb PDF file with over 100 8x10 300 dpi images, and it rendered snappy with no lagging. Wish it offered a side by side page view option.

Man this thing makes the iPad work for you. Wifi file transfer is outstanding, PDF viewing is a pleasure. Thanks GoodReader.
awesome app
John the artist 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is a lifesaver. It gets through huge PDFs, is very easy to learn, and is designed to be a very "good reader" indeed. i love the file access through USB sync! (new iPad feature from Apple) I connected it to iTunes, opened the apps tab, scrolled down and dumped over 100MB of various PDFs and such into this app. Copied to the device in seconds. =D -John
Great app
Karl-Franz 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this app and the price (free) is great. I wish that the rendering of PDF files was a bit faster. I also don't understand why my pages scroll vertically instead of sideways like in most book reader apps. Some of the scrolling zones don't seem to work properly for me. I have to reach with my thumb to the lower center edge of the screen to jump to the next page which makes it less comfortable to use. Overall, however, a great first effort for the iPad version. I hope the few minor niggles get fixed in an update.
