Description

Hearts is a classic card game, full of skill and strategy. Unless you attempt to 'Shoot the Moon', simply avoid collecting the Hearts.

There can be few things in life which are more frustrating than being beaten by luck! To have your card playing ability and experience fall victim to a lucky deal can cause players much irritation. Hearts, however, is a game which regularly bring... Read More

Best of the iPhone Hearts Games
300 pounds of sh*t 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've tried other Hearts games and all were hampered by inadequate AIs resulting in abyssmal game play. The AI in Hearts Professional is better by an order of magnitude. Game play is intelligent and challenging. Bug - When you shoot the moon, the game allows you to choose between adding 26 points to others and deducting 26 points from your score. No matter what you choose, it always deducts. Flaw - When you play a 3-card pass variation you can't tell the direction of the pass before passing. Missing Feature - No statistics. These deficiencies aside, the AI alone is worth a 5-star rating.
Not great
Ram in Milwaukee 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Slow. Not nearly as good as even the basic Hearts on the Pocket Pc!
Better Than the Others, But.............
Ken34 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
It's better than the other Hearts games I have but it needs a few changes. First, the business of always subtracting 26 points for shooting the moon even when the addition choice is made needs to be fixed. Second, I'd like to be able to speed up the play because it's pretty slow as it is. Third, I'd like to be able to give the "South" player a name instead of always just being tagged "Player". Someone with fat fingers might have some problems but mine are small so no problem there. With these suggested changes I'd probably give it five stars.

I've tried other Hearts games and all were hampered by inadequate AIs resulting in abyssmal game play. I posted a 5-star rating of this app earlier, but am revising my review and deducting a star. The AI in Hearts Professional is better than the other Hearts apps, but it does a poor job of detecting when a player is shooting the moon, and passes cards that don't defend against shooting. When no one is shooting, game play is intelligent and challenging. Bugs - When you shoot the moon, the game allows you to choose between adding 26 points to others and deducting 26 points from your score. The controls are reversed, it deducts when you click add, and adds when you click deduct. Another weird bug - If west leads a small spade, north plays a small spade and east plays the ace, south (the player) holding queen, king and small spades can't play the queen (it says you're not following suit!). Flaw - When you play a 3-card pass variation you can't tell the direction of the pass before passing. Missing Feature - No statistics. 4-stars for being the best Hearts game on the iPhone.
Serious Glitch Still There
dancelikeithurts 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
The problem with shooting the moon is still in the newest version. I've read others' reviews who complain about the scoring when they shoot the moon, but they're better off than I. I've shot the moon several times and the game has *never* credited me for it and this remains true in the newest version. Please believe that I've not made a mistake -- no other players took hearts or the Queen, I'm not misunderstanding the scoring -- but every time I shoot successfully I am *penalized* 26 (or sometimes 16, because I use the option of the Jack of Diamonds). I don't know why my experience has been different from other reviewers but it may be my use of the Jack of the Diamonds, or it may be that I use an iPod Touch rather than an iPhone, but it's true. Obviously this can probably be fixed with an update and when it does I have only a couple other suggestions: 1. ongoing player statistics; 2. the option to change the player's name; 3. remind us who we're passing to before we do it. Other than the very serious glitch, a good version of Hearts, but I'm lowering my rating since they didn't fix this fundamental flaw, when they do, I'll raise it.
passing ahead of time.
addie2 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
let us know where we are passing ahead of time
Glitch with shoot the moon continues
ppepe99 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
Glitch not fixed yet if you are deducting -10 with jack of dimonds. No score or stats kept. Cant name yourself as a player. Otherwise everything great.
Play is good, but significant bugs exist.
Player (of course) 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
The play is good. The other players are not stupid and this makes the game winnable, but a challenge.
Shooting Glitch Fixed!
dancelikeithurts 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
I'd complained in earlier reviews about a glitch when shooting the moon, well that has been fixed. In addition, the newest version informs us in advance whom we're passing to. Accordingly, I've raised my rating to 4 stars. It would still be nice to have ongoing statistics about who wins, who shoots, etc., and to be able to rename myself something other than the generic 'Player,' but those are minor. Now, this is a good, challenging, fair (in the 'just and balanced' sense) AI leading to enjoyable Hearts. One more note, the fact that the developer continued to put out updates until the shooting glitch was fixed tells well for their responsiveness.
Best Hearts game on iPhone
Dana3 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
This may not have the sleekest interface, but the game play and AI are better on this game than any other I've tried. It's highly customizable which is nice, allowing you to set preferences for many variations of the game from passing to bonus card.
Decent but not the best
keving_65 2.0 stars Version: 1.2
The AI is probably the second best out there. Passes are not great, players play A or K of spades and get the quen when they have other spades, and shooting the moon is not hard to do.
Play is good, but still needs work.
Player (of course) 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
I'm updating my review based on the latest version. My overall impression is unchanged which is that the game play is good, but there are bugs.
