Telltale Games Puts 11 Games on Sale Until January 29th
Calendar16 Mon, 23 Jan 2012 14:45:53 UTC +00:00
By Carter Dotson on January 23rd, 2012 Telltale Games has put a variety of titles on sale, including entries from a pair of original series. Telltale Games, purveyors of fine point-and-click adventure games, are launching a 99-cent sale that they are describing as ‘epic’. The sale, set to run from January 19th until the 29th, includes a total of 11 games. Included in the sale is the Hector: Badge of Carnage series, that takes a quirky, grotesque, and profane look at police detective work through the eyes of the crude Hector. All three episodes in the series for iPad are on sale, and the last two episodes are on sale for iPhone/iPod touch. The first episode for iPhone was published by original developer Straandloop, which likely explains why it isn’t part of the sale. The Puzzle Agent series is also on sale, for those who like their adventure games a little Read More
If your iPhone or iPad's memory still isn't full after you gorged on the various Cyber Monday and Thanksgiving deals, know this: most of the celebratory sales are still active on the App Store. In fact, we've discovered a couple more that we couldn't fit in before the holiday break. That's what this post is all about -- the leftovers. For example, Telltale Games has lowered its games' prices 55-80 percent from the usual. The savings began on November 23, but will continue until tomorrow, November 30. Arghata Studio also bashed the prices of its 1112 series in honor of our Turkey Day, and those sales are still continuing, too, well into this week. Here's a short list of some notables: Odds And Ends Agharta Studios Telltale Games Cool deals, right? As a side-note, if you feel like you've been left out of the initial extravaganza, App Shopper [Free] remains an Read More

Posted 11/25/2011 at 4:30pm | by J Keirn-Swanson As always, the holidays brings out the big guns when it comes to app price cutting. This time around is no exception, with some familiar developers going crazy with the discount action. Why wait for Cyber Monday when you can get your game on right this very minute? This one is huge. A thank you to the fans who've stocked their iPads and iPhones and iPods with their games through the years, Electronic Arts has slashed prices across the board. Like what, you ask? How about Battleship for the iPad down four dollars to just $0.99. Or pick one of the Monopoly for the iPad versions, either regular down from $9.99 to $2.99 or Monopoly Here & Now with the same price drop. Scrabble for the iPad takes a similar nose dive on the price. Get it and The Game of Life ($2.99) Read More

+ Universal App $6.99 Our Review By Jennifer Allen on June 13th, 2011 Rating: :: SHORT BUT TWISTED FUN Hector: Episode 1 is a crude but frequently hilarious adventure game. Developer: Price: $6.99 (currently on sale for $2.99) Version Reviewed: 1.1 Device Reviewed On: iPad 2 Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: Telltale Games are true masters of the point and click adventure. Nearly single handedly, they’ve revitalised the genre and brought it back from the brink of extinction. Monkey Island, Wallace & Gromit, Sam & Max, Back to the Future…they’re all great titles in their own right. Each providing great adventure experiences both on the PC/Mac and on the iPad. Now comes a much, much cruder affair in the form of Hector: Episode 1 – We Negotiate with Terrorists. Think of it as a true antithesis of Wallace & Gromit. It’s not Read More

I hate it
Shreddi 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
If you have nothing at all to do and like frustrating, stupid humor over and over again then this game might work for you. Instead of a game Hector is more a collection of bad dialog trying to be witty. Very slow moving and repetitious. Instead of allowing you to pick up necessary items along the way, it forces you to run back and forth only to listen to what 90 percent (generous estimate) of the same over and over. My bad, I should have tried the free version first but instead. Thought it might rival something like the 1980's "Leisure suite Larry", but not even close. Do yourself a favor and try the free version. Once you get the car running and drive off (hope the free version gives you at least that much), then you know how the rest will work. Have fun. I sure didn't.
