Happy Friday friends. If you kick it around here, you know that I like to talk about apps I’m digging lately but I thought I’d switch it up a bit this week and see what you lovely readers are using. We put out a call on Twitter and via our Facebook page and here’s what you came up with. Reader Kenny Martiatu piped in by saying he is using Antipaper Notes HD, Heywire, Heytell, and My Tracks. One app I've been trying to find for my iPod touch for quite some time is a free SMS app -- and one that actually . I've tried a couple before, but with no success. Maybe because I'm in Canada. Maybe because I was missing something. Either way, I was still without a way to send text messages to my contacts. Thanks to HeyWire, however, my SMS prayers have been answered! The app works beautifully: register, get yourself a U.S. based phone number for texting purposes, and start messaging your friends. That's about all there is to it. You can even upload your iOS contacts to make communication easier. Bonus: Facebook chat is also supported, though I'll stick with a good multi-protocol IM app for handling my Facebook communications for now. On September 22nd, a new service and app was added the iTunes App Store without much notice. A company called MediaFriends has created Hey Wire, a service which allows anyone with an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac or PC to send text messages to people around the world for free. HeyWire is the first and currently only multi-platform texting and chat service that delivers free international messaging with a real phone number. This app Rocks! I used rack up $50-$80 in international texting bills during some months. It is easy to do when paying $.25/ txt msg from U.S. and $.50/ txt msg when traveling to text my friends in Europe and Canada from my iPhone. Not any more with HeyWire, it's free!!! I can also text all my friends in the U.S. at no charge. Love this app! Very easy to use.I have already sent 60 messages in one day! Already saved $18! I got my own phone number and now everyone knows if they want to reach me via text to hit me up at my HeyWire texting number. I am sooo sold! Another extremely cool app feature is that I am able to chat with my friends on Facebook through this app. It even shows me if my friends are online when I create a message. HeyWire makes all this messaging stuff so simple… I use one app and get all my txt and chat messages in one place! I also just tried it on my iPad... So sweet! Now I can also send and receive text messages in my house on my ipad over wifi! It’s a mystery on how my messages follow me to different devices…however HeyWire does it. I love it!
