D-Series by Hipstamatic
Calendar16 Wed, 11 Apr 2012 00:10:53 UTC +00:00
Hipstamatic’s D-Series Disposable Camera app for iPhone gives you and your friends the chance to shoot multiple Hipstamatic photos to the same camera roll. You don’t have to text a photo, and you no longer have to cull through multiple apps or Facebook photo albums for a group of shots. As you gather with friends and family to celebrate and share cherished moments, the D-Series iPhone app’s intention is to capture them with a cohesive, seamless Hipstamatic photography experience. The D- Series Camera app is stocked with two free cameras and another free one accessed by connecting to Facebook. As with Hipstamatic, additional cameras are available for purchase in the app. The interface for shooting your first camera roll is user-friendly and intuitive. You choose your camera. Next, you choose a sticker with the date. There are three colors that have the modern meets vintage aesthetic expected of a Hipstamatic product. Read More
This Week at 148Apps, December 12-16

By Chris Kirby on December 17th, 2011 This week at 148Apps, Flurry showed a chart, GiggleApps made us smart, and the Hipstamatic series got a new start. There's still some shopping days left till Christmas, so give the gift of apps and read on... This week at 148Apps.com we delved into the latest from the developers of Hipstamatic, the “disposable” Hipstamatic D-Series app. 148Apps founder Jeff Scott says, “I got a chance to try out the new app and can report that Hipstamatic D-Series does indeed bring back the nostalgic memories of sharing a disposable camera and swapping double prints into the digital age. It’s a great idea and well executed. There’s even the anxious need to burn the last shot by taking a picture of your foot, just to get the roll developed quicker. It’s indeed very fun. So you have to BUY more film for the cameras? What gives? I'm cool with paying a dollar for a sweet new lens but money so you can actually take more photos- no. Sorry synthetic, this one is about to get SwankoLabbed.
Apple Needs To Reject This In-App Payment System Immediately. Don't Get Suckered!.

Hipstamatic has become the leech of iOS camera apps. The in-app purchase concept of paying per shots is the worst idea ever. Because everyone wants to jump on the Facebook train, Synthetic will graciously give you some free photos to take if you link the app to your Facebook account and allow them to access your personal information. Other wise, you have to pay-per-photos taken in addition to paying for different "disposable" cameras that offer the same generic hipstatastic effects that have been played out for a few years now. It may say it's a free app, but you end up paying big money for it to even be functional. This model should be rejected by Apple, it's a complete scam and abuses the customers. Synthetic can shove this app and it's mandatory social linking and pay-per-snapshot system.
This will be the fall of Synthetic

This app, along with Swankolab which hasn't been updated, will drive fans away from their products. I understand the social camera bit, but making us pay for packs of "film" is just ridiculous. Digital replaced analog because it's convenient and allows us to experiment with shots. Trying to justify that paying for digital film is like the good ol days is just a bad move.
Ridiculous and Crooked Price Structure

I was truly excited for this when it was first announced. It was a great idea that was to bring back some of the mystery of film cameras. Now that it has arrived, to say that I'm disgusted would be putting it lightly.Instead of offering an in app purchase to acquire new films and lenses (like hipstamatic) your instead offered the opportunity to purchase a single-use lens/film. Use it once, then it goes away... Unless of course you pony up more cash for the privilege of the new combos.I think this should prove bad for business and it is my hope that the innovative folks at hipstamatic will rethink this price structure. I fear however that this may be here to stay and I'll be deleting this app from my phone soon than later.
Totally stupid.

The whole concept is awful. They want us to pay basically for the Hipstamatic paks all over again. You DO NOT have to log on to Facebook to take photos, just skip that part and take your photos. You can save them to your camera roll. taking pics is totally free, it is the extras you have to pay for.All photo effects are the same. It should change effects randomly with each shot If you want different effects, you have to pay for them. It really is Hipstamatic repackaged, you are buying it all over again, only without the shake to shuffle, and other options. A total ripoff. Instead of making this they should have updated Swankolab since they got your money for that if you got the extras option, but they have never upgraded or added like they promised. And this junk constantly crashes. So much for their hype about how exciting this was going to be.
App for the 1%!!!

Paying for pics? I use Hipstamatic daily, shooting at least 50 pics a day. I have every film, every lens, Swankolab and Increadibooth. Plus the white analog camera case. Obviously I am happy to fork over money to this company for their products. But I'm NOT going to pay for exposures. My phone camera doesn't take high quality pictures like a regular digital camera, so at least half the shots I take are blurry or have lighting problems. You really do have to blast fish to get those few amazing shots. I've tried the free camera, and the shots are low rez and many of them were blurry, because there's no way to tap to focus like you can with the regular iPhone camera. This doesn't bother me with the Hipstamatic app, but if I have to PAY to take bad shots? No. As many people have already pointed out, this pay-as-you-go idea just seems greedy. I've followed this company from the beginning, but now feel I'm getting screwed over. This is the first time Hipstamatic has let me down. Boo. Looks like Facebook has been a really bad influence on my favorite app developers. Also, it's very buggy. When I try to send a pic in email, it chooses the wrong pic for the email. Is it trying to send all 24 shots? I'm confused by a lot of this app, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
I hope you're rich

This is a joke. I understand the concept but I dont feel it's fair to have to pay for new cameras over and again. They have certainly kept that true to life. But seriously this app can quickly become very expensive. I can't see this app surviving.
No way

I'm not interested in buying a new camera pack repeatedly. I don't mind waiting to see my finished picks, but I do mind having to repurchase a camera when I am done. I'll stick to Hipstamatic.
Bugs and a rip-off

I like the idea of the film development aspect but they cant honestly expect us to pay for new film. The app may be free to download but it's a foot in the door technique. Also there a bunch of bugs and it keeps crashing. There are better alternatives...

I will continue to pay for hipstapaks, because I love hipstamatic. You guys are great developers. I even got Incredibooth (with all the booths) and Swankolab with the add-on. But this is a rip-off. Sorry synthetic, I just don't see the upside to this. I'll just use Facebook, texts, or email to exchange my hipstamatic pics.
