iAd Gallery App: All Filler, No Killer?
Calendar16 Wed, 06 Apr 2011 16:49:36 UTC +00:00
By – Blame it on Apple's classic "1984" Macintosh ad.  Or the Super Bowl.  Or the current crop of blockbuster directors (Michael Bay, Zach Snyder, et al.) who cut their filmmaking teeth convincing you to buy cars, hamburgers, and/or Victoria's Secret lingerie.  Point is, commercials are no longer the red-headed stepchild of entertainment — the best ones can be their own kind of entertainment, or at least a necessary evil/tolerable thirty seconds until the real entertainment begins. Do iAds count?  The House of Jobs thinks so: someone in Cupertino thought it would be worthwhile to take the time to create the iAd Gallery app. Yes, all your favorite iAd campaigns are gathered together into one free app, updated regularly, and allowing you, Mr. or Mrs. iDevice Owner, to scroll through 'em, relive old favorites, discover new favorites, even collect said favorites in a personal "Loved" section. Our first reaction?  "Wow, this Read More

Love iAds? Apple Has Designed An App Just For You
Calendar16 Wed, 06 Apr 2011 13:33:25 UTC +00:00
Posted 04/06/2011 at 5:33am | by J.R. Bookwalter We already know that Steve Jobs and Company love iAds, because they’ve made such a big deal about them at media events for almost a year. Apparently some of you must love ‘em too, because Apple has now introduced a free app dedicated to them called iAd Gallery. Apple quietly introduced a new addition to its App Store stable on Tuesday with iAd Gallery. What does it do? Well, we’re glad you asked. iAd Gallery serves one function and one function only, and that’s to show you Apple’s iAds. Done scratching your head? We’re not quite sure what Apple was thinking here -- after all, many people prefer an ad-free experience with their apps and are willing to pay to have them removed. So why would we want an app that’s full of them? “Great ads. On-demand. In your pocket,” Apple’s description for Read More
Potrete divertirvi a fare i vari minigiochi proposti dagli Sponsor, guardare filmati e molto altro. Apple today released iAd Gallery, and iOS app that Apple calls "a celebration of advertising." To call this app ‘ad supported’ would be quite an understatement. iAd Gallery's sole purpose is to showcase Apple's struggling iAd advertising service and act as a creative launching point for potential clients. Although the iAd Gallery app is nothing more than a revolving door of ad campaigns, it is still full-featured app, nonetheless. A few of the key features include, regular updates featuring the latest ads from the iAd network, a slick "spinning wheel of iAd banners," a section for your favorite or "Loved" ads, and of course, the usual interactive ad campaigns that are at the heart of iAds to begin with. Apple describes iAd Gallery as having "Great ads. On-demand. In your pocket." Given the merits of the app itself, it's not a bad app, just a self-serving one. The app is informative, Read More

No more wasting your money collecting all those apps just so you can watch the lovely, revolutionary, magical, emotional, whatever-happened-to-those iAds contained therein. Apple has deigned to slap together iAd Gallery, a free app that promises "Great ads. On-demand. In your pocket." I don't think it's a belated April Fools joke! I think they really think people want advertising on-demand! Weird. The app has a perfect five star rating as of now, though, so I guess it does its job well enough. Just keep in mind you'll probably have to play a fun little game or watch a feature length motion picture every so often unless you pay $3 for the premium version. [iTunes] Read More
by Do you love the iAds you see on your iPhone or iPad so much that you want to have them on hand for reference? If so, Apple’s got an app for you. On Tuesday, the company released iAd Gallery, a free app that, as the name implies, is a collection of iAds. While the impetus for the launch is unclear, it comes as Apple has had trouble selling iAds. Inclusion in the gallery app can be seen as a value-add for advertisers. Apple introduced the iAd platform, which CEO Steve Jobs dubbed “mobile ads with emotion,” in April. Initially, iAds were only available to advertisers who planned to spend between $1 million and $10 million, but in February, Apple cut the starting price of iAds to $500,000, according to a report, which noted that fill rates — the portion of advertising inventory being used — fell earlier this year. I’ve used hundreds upon hundreds of iPhone applications at this point. But the funny thing is that not once can I recall running into an Apple iAd in any of those apps. Despite a much ballyhooed launch, if my situation is any indication, things are not going as well as planned. So now Apple is taking a new approach: an app. Apple has just released the iAd Gallery app into the App Store. The (obviously) free download allows you to see how the elusive ads actually look and work on the iPhone. And while this may seem like a pretty good way for app developers to see what the ads will look like in their apps, the tagline almost makes it seem as if it’s for consumers as well: Great ads. On-demand. In your pocket. Just what we all want, right? No? The app itself allows you browse newly created iAds Read More

Apple introduces iAd Gallery app four days late

When next someone asks you, "Hey, what is the top app I should put on my new iPhone? Can you recommend something that will be insanely useful, offer lots of long-term functionality and really show off my device?" Consider how much you dislike this person. Then, if they really deserve it, recommend Apple's new iAd Gallery app. This free application offers "Great ads. On-demand. In your pocket." The application allows users to view and interact with Apple's stable of paid advertisements, as if nothing less would be sufficient to demonstrate our complete lack of a life. This app is really only appropriate for the most, uh, loyal Apple fan. Of course, it's also a way for Apple to potentially nudge/guilt hesitant iAd buyers into joining the club. That's because iAd Gallery may help sell Apple's fledgling (and some say struggling) service to a broader market. What purpose does this app serve Read More
