Nice app that needs a little more work 4.0 stars
By: drjmd34
Version: 1.36.1
Let me first say this app has made my day to day charting much easier. With that being said this app is not without its flaws. First the pluses for this app. Entering information is quick and easy once you have the right template and note type that works for your clinical situation. A few taps here and there and click you have a patient visit charted. Navigation in the charting mode is pretty much straight forward and anyone familiar with an iPhone /iTouch shouldn’t have any problems. The other plus is how you are able to sync with the website online. Here is where all your patients and patient notes can be managed from editing, viewing, printing etc. The online scheduler for patient visits comes in handy also, this syncs right to your iPhone/iTouch for your viewing. The bad part of this app is the difficulty of trying to customize the templates to suit your needs. I have to agree with the comment someone made about lack of information from the developers in regards to customization. There is very little on the website that is useful. The first day I was pulling my hair out trying to customize this app to suit my needs. However after looking at the other templates and note types in edit mode I was able to figure out how to customize things to my needs. Granted it took me a while to do this and I wanted to throw my computer against the wall with the frustration of going through this process but in the end it all worked out. I would have to say this is the major flaw of this app. The other problem is printing patient notes. Instead of batching an individual patient’s visits together for printing you have to print by each individual date. Sorting patient visits on the web based portion is a pain also. Another annoying problem is when you log in after about 10 min. the webpage kicks you out and you have to log back in. My front desk workers absolutely hate this. I assume it’s a security issue thing. With all that said for the amount of money I spent I can’t complain. My biggest fear is the developers will abandon this app and I’ll be left out in the cold. Even with all its flaws this program has truly made my life easier and I would definitely recommend it.

Direction for making changes to templates very poor, could not figure out!

Misrepresented. Most of the Features are still in development, which means not included now for the $$. Questions are unanswered unless an additional support contract is purchased. Poorly done and an embarassment for an Apple App.

Great application, but may need some minor tweeking. Very user friendly. I am a general practice MD and work in a variety of settings including nursing home, rehab, hospital and clinic. This program allows me to keep track of all my patients and give the best care. The problem and med list are a godsend. The template function and note type could be easier to use. Overall, a very strong application. Highly recommend it

Great app, you have done a great job. Wondering if there is any possibility of exchanging pt information with a tap like the "bump" app for weekend checkout. To transfer pt demographics and dx in this fashion would be way cool. Thanks

Update. I am glad to see the new updates as they continue to improve. I am glad to be able to recommend this product to other providers ----- Review for DC's/Acup I've tried and bought a few EMR program for my profession. This product is so much better for the price than most other program. Positives: - great response and help from the developer. -Very, very modifiable. -ease of use with the tap aspect of the iPod touch/ iPhone -low cost entry point -notes stored online -able to incorporate much more systems review and exam components than most DC/Acu program. I may be a DC, but I do exam pts abdomens, eyes, and cardio -picture you can draw on to show radiation and regional complaints - I mainly use the program currently for notes only. The rest I'll add as it continues to improve Cons -the charge capture is somewhat cumbersome in that it isn't incorporated into the notes section but you have to access it through separate regions. - same with the of encounter aspect - I don't use the schedule part as mobile me calender serves me better. That being said, I would really like to schedule with ichart on my handheld - importing pictures and attachments - not so easy and when I did the pictures were cropped too much. - no real user friendly templates for DC's and none at all for Acupuncture - but that can change quickly if we embrace this program. I read about this app in the iPhone magazine and was impressed on paper, I then started using it and was surprised how useful it has become to my day to day work in just a few weeks. This is a very professional app as compared to some of the others I have seen and it was clearly designed by someone who manages patients. I am more than happy with the purchase and recommended it to my practice colleagues.

IF YOU ARE A PHYSICIAN COMPLAINING ABOUT 140 DOLLARS I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. ANYWAYS, WORKS GREAT, GREAT DEAL, THE IPHONE IS AN INCREDIBLE PRODUCT AND THIS PROGRAM FITS FOR US DOCTORS.

iChart Works!! 4.0 stars

Newer version just came out making this software very workable, it really does work. This software is a useful EMR that should cost more than it does. It takes time to learn any software and once you have learned this, it's a useful tool at a bargain.

After careful review and daily use I have to give this app the high marks. I have tried all the apps on teh store to track patients and manage eprescribing, notes and coding, none really compare. This app works better than my previous EMR that cost me $9K, I am amazed that it is even offered at the price. Kudos to the the maker.
Evaluation of iChart the EMR for the iPhone 4.0 stars
By: Tabbytiger
Version: 1.34
I am writing this evaluation two days after the revision 1.2 of iChart has been released. There were problems with the version that the first 45 reviewers reviewed, no doubt about that. In short it shouldn’t have been released. The new version is impressive. I have had a fair amount of experience with EMR’s. I work for the government in the Indian Health Service as a physician. I can tell you flat out, that the iChart is a much better EMR that the one I use at work. In private practice several years ago, I bought and used Medinotes. I payed over 5,000 dollars for it. I like ichart better. I have a home visit business, and have been using Google’s new free EMR, PracticeFusion. It can be seen on line at PracticeFusion.com. I think it has potential, but it has recently undergone a metamorphosis, and it’s like learning a different EMR. IChart’s ability to do a complex Hx and P on the fly with just a tapping and sliding of your index finger is much easier and faster. I have been amazed at the complexity of completeness of the choices in describing clinical findings available on iChart. It really is well thought out. I’m sure it will continue to improve as it becomes better known and accepted. I understand there is to be a online edition at the website where printing and editing can be done with the keyboard. That is not functional yet, but desperatly needs to be.

Unlike many of the "reviewers" I use this app and find it very useful. Worth the money and the upgrades have come quickly. Billing help and loss prevention has paid for the app several times over in the past few months. Thanks!

the most important thing to know is that this isn't a mature product. in making my first patient test file the app crashed 3 times. charts can't be created without entering SSNs, even if you have a MRN. that is a bad design decision. workflow is not faster than paper/pen with the current iteration of ichart. the ability to create custom templates and drop-down fields for quick document creation is not yet available, making the process of documenting much slower than pen and paper. the template editor is "coming soon." current available templates are number less than 7. instructional documentation is very sparse. the website states that "80% of all questions can be resolved via in the FAQ's, which are updated regularly." total number of Q's answered in the FAQ's? three. also, fyi the icd and cpt databases can't be directly accessed for quick reference- to access the databases, a specific patient's chart must be opened. in general, the app is slow. i could go on and on, but the bottom line is that there isn't much to review yet since in the current form this app will not save time or create efficiencies, and thus is not yet really usable. data security questions remain. i will try to update as the app is updated. there is potential here.

I must say that I have initially had some problems with this program and found some bugs with it. It has not been the easiest to figure out how to naviage, and is not yet fully functional. However, that said, I must add that the creator of this program has been extremely helpful and responsive. They are aware of glitches and shortcomings and I have been told that an update is being released next week that should fix the current bugs. He has been exceptionally responsive, and I really appreciate that. I think when this program is up and fully functional, it will be a great asset to my practice at a great price.

Save your money. I am in solo practice who was looking for an affordable EMR. I bought this program 2 weeks ago and was excited about the prospects. The patients I entered went smoothly and by the third day I could no longer access all the information. It just disappeared and to this day unable to access the patients I entered. I decided to drop this program and wish I could get my money back.
