io is one of those games that gets you really excited to try it out, but then leaves you disappointed on so many levels. The concept is great, but the game never reaches its true potential. The main character, Norton, must recapture the Nautilus space ship which has been taken over by robots. The story is presented with text only, which would be OK if the story was actually intriguing, but it never really grabs your attention or interest. So if there's no real story then the gameplay must make up for it, right? Nope! So, let's get into it. Now, the graphics are actually not that bad. The characters are small, so you can't really notice much detail. But, the level design is actually pretty nice. Sound effects are descent, but there is no music at all.
