Capcom, Namco, Sega Announce Big 99 Cent Game Sales
Calendar16 Thu, 10 Feb 2011 17:10:19 UTC +00:00
Posted 02/10/2011 at 9:10am | by Andrew Groen There's officially no good reason to pay more than 99 cents for any game on the App Store this month. We always thought Valentine's Day was the kind of holiday that specialized more in cheap pink teddy bears than smartphone software, but apparently we were wrong. The past couple of weeks have been positively flooded with huge iOS video game sales from major publishers, and now Sega, Capcom, and Namco are getting in on the action. Some of their very best games are included so check out the full list. Listen up, fellas and ladies, sure you could go to the shop this Valentine's Day and get your special someone a ho-hum set of bad flowers and some fluffy pink polyester that will be sure to make them feel completely average. Or you could surprise them with an onslaught of totally awesome games Read More
Add another developer to the Valentine's Day sale bandwagon, as Namco is now offering a huge selection of their iOS games at discounted rates. I honestly don't remember Valentine's Day being such a big deal before, but with EA, Capcom, Sega, and countless smaller developers using the holiday as an excuse to release special Valentine's themes or have sales, it looks like we can expect this sort of thing going forward. Have a look at what Namco is offering on discount, separated by price for your perusing pleasure (asterisks denote in-app purchase prices): $4.99 $3.99 $2.99 $1.99 99¢ Whew! That's a big list. In other Namco-related news, the Valentine's Day skin for Pac-Man has gone live as a free update for that game, and his lady friend has appeared on the iPad as Ms. Pac-Man for iPad [$4.99], as we told you about earlier this week. The Namco Valentine's Day sale Read More
Isaac Newton’s Gravity [iTunes Link] was created by Namco and is an intuitive physics puzzler in which you will need to successfully guide a ball across a board to hit a switch. Each level will give you different shaped pieces such as cubes or blocks to place on a map. You will select each piece by simply tapping on it and then rotating it in any direction. Next, drag, drop and place it on the map. Once all of the pieces are set, hit the play button and your ball will roll out and hopefully reach it’s destination… The physics elements of Gravity is top notch. The blocks and pieces will fall and react to each other realistically, which can make the game extremely challenging. The game play is simple but addicting. Some levels were very hard to finish and really gave me an enormous sense of satisfaction when clearing them. The Read More

Make sure and act fast though, as many of these apps are available for an extremely limited time. Also, be sure and keep checking this post regularly, as we’ll be updating all the new deals as they are announced. Happy Thanksgiving – Here Are a TON of Games on Sale
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Nov 2010 11:04:08 UTC +00:00
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been all my life. What's there not to love about an entire day revolving around eating massive amounts of turkey, stuffing, and all the other fixings? Sure, I could do without needing to feign interest in football, but thankfully tryptophan overload usually allows me to sleep through all of that. If you're looking for something to do this year while you do your best to either pretend to be interested in football or anxiously wait for the food to be done, there are a ton of sales on the App Store to consider. The basis of this post comes from SirAwesome's awesome thread in our new price drops, freebies, and deals forum. He put together an extremely exhaustive listing of everything that's on sale, and the thread is good to stop by just to make sure you're not missing anything that might Read More

If you’re a fan of receiving free candy or for cleaning off an absurd amount of toilet paper off your front lawn, then you’ll know that Halloween is nearly upon us. Most people celebrate Halloween by paying money to go to places for the sole purpose of possibly getting frightened, walking with their children to complete strangers homes in order to get a treat, or keeping all of their lights off in order to avoid wave after wave of trick-or-treaters. If the last example sounds like your kind of Halloween, then why not take advantage of the big Halloween sales a number of iOS game publishers are offering for this weekend only? Playing on your iDevice of choice would certainly keep strangers from knowing you’re home, so give it a try! Isaac Newton’s Gravity review
Calendar16 Wed, 24 Feb 2010 11:13:48 UTC +00:00
Published: February 24, 2010 Comment         Newton is one of those geniuses that discovered something that was always there: gravity. If he hadn’t we would still have apples falling, planes flying and balls dropped. Of course someone would eventually have induced that all apples fall according to the law of gravity. But now it was Newton that did it, and he was a clever man doing some mean mathematics. Now his apple to the head antics have turned into a physics puzzler for your iPhone. All levels in Isaac Newton’s Gravity share the same common goal: use gravity to get an object to hit a red button. Levels get progressively harder, and add more and more objects to play around with. When you think that you got it covered just press the play button to start the level. Either a ball or a cart with wheels emerge, and travel with Read More
Namco Says Happy Hearts Day With HUGE Games Sales!
Calendar16 Sun, 14 Feb 2010 08:30:39 UTC +00:00
February 14th, 2010 James Isabel If there’s a holiday/special event going on, expect Namco to be one of the few to put their games on sale. Until tonight I believe, you can download many of their games roster on the following sale prices: The first Ace Combat game was released in 1995 and the various versions have been put on different Playstation consoles, the Xbox 360, Game Boy and PSP. The franchise’s next outing is the iPhone (not surprisingly), and boy does this game deliver! We’ve seen Namco release numerous games for the iPhone however most games are met with criticism good and bad. Something tells me this game is one of their games that are simply runaway hits from the get go. Yet even more Namco games on sale: We’ll feature more games on sale throughout the day so make sure to keep on checking! You can leave a response, Read More

Isaac Newtons Gravity
Calendar16 Wed, 27 Jan 2010 11:21:10 UTC +00:00
Isaac Newton is credited with the discovery of the concept of gravity and because of this, we see his name plastered wherever the strange force is mentioned. Particularly in this case, we have Isaac Newton's Gravity the game. Although I personally would be a little wary of naming a game after one of the strongest and most myterious forces in the world, here we have it. The game is a physics puzzler where players use placed objects to guide a ball or trolley into a button. In the beginning stages of the game, the concept is explained and the puzzles are simple. But as the game progresses, the puzzles require the player to think more and more outside the box. Visit Appolicious for more iPhone app reviews and articles. The game's controls were a little touchy at times but the ability to zoom made things a bit easier. The app also Read More
Namco Channel Isaac Newton in New Physics Puzzler

Namco last week released Gravity, a physics puzzler that channels Sir Isaac Newton, to create one of the more difficult iPhone puzzlers of late. The game focuses around placing various objects on the screen to use various physics properties to trigger a switch and complete the level. As you can see from the trailer above, there is a huge variety of levels. They do ramp up rather quickly once the tutorial levels are complete. You can also create your own levels and a future revision will allow you to share these online. When creating these physics based Rube Goldberg-esque contraptions, it became quickly apparent what makes this game special. While we’ve seen many other physics puzzlers, this one has a Read More

'Isaac Newton's Gravity' – Namco's Physics Puzzler
Calendar16 Sun, 24 Jan 2010 03:33:28 UTC +00:00
Isaac Newton's Gravity [App Store] is Namco's latest foray in to the casual puzzle aisle in the App Store. Originally released as Professor Heinz Wolff's Gravity for the PC in late 2008 then a simultaneous Wii and DS release in early 2009, Professor Wolff (A real scientist who even had a brief appearance on the Ali G show and his own British television series.) was apparently given the boot for Sir Isaac Newton himself. Aside from this scientific swapperoo and half as many levels, very little seems to have changed aside from obvious interface modifications to adapt the game to the touchscreen. The game involves solving physics puzzles by arranging blocks and other objects on each of the 50 levels to hit a switch. Pressing the play button on the top right of the screen causes a ball to shoot out and if you positioned everything right, hit the various objects Read More

Great Art & Music
SpySeeTuna 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game has some of the most beautiful background imagery that I've ever seen. Some of the art in these levels I would hang on my walls. As for the music, some tracks remind me of old cartoons and some are kinda "Danny Elfmanish" which all go well with the game. If the controls feel weird, use the pinch-out gesture to zoom in. That helps out a lot. Also use the undo button when you accidentally knock over pieces when placing them. Definitely a good challenge for those who like puzzle games.
I don't remember physics!
WhiteKnight1 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Good game overall. Definitely challenging, even after just 3 levels in, haha. The level editor is my favorite!
Challenging
Kilta 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Definitely a challenging game in a good way. I feel using different part of my brain that I don't usually use! Level editor is one of the feature of this game. You can create your own puzzle and challenge to your friend. So you can enjoy not only playing each level but also creating your level. I recommend this for those who are looking for some spice for your daily life!
Wonderful Puzzle Game
Phil_Lapineau 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Gravity is intuitive but also cerebral and challenging; expect to spend quite a bit of time completing some of the levels, though some of them are simple enough to finish within two minutes. I'm suffering from the "one more level" syndrome with the game. The pinch motion zoom-in/out feature helps greatly with having precise control of the blocks. It's especially useful if you ever have multiple blocks bunched together. I really enjoy the physics engine. The blocks have a weighty feel to them, and the ball seems like it's made of lead. At first, I thought this game was overpriced, but the level creator easily makes the game worth it. I've already made a couple of complex marble mazes that aren't really intended to be puzzles -- more like physics experiments. If you ever had fun with the board game Mouse Trap, you'd probably be just as amused with this level creator.
Ooo puzzles!
Moogi3 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Being a sucker for puzzle games I'd have to say that this game isn't too shabby. I absolutely enjoy the graphics and love how physics are implemented. Havent had issues with the ability to navigate or control...so overall Kudos to the game!
Warning
Vilcheck4 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
First, way over priced. Second, the controls are sketchy and frustrating. Third, it's all trial and error, repetitive. I played thru the first 10 levels then deleted the app. Too many other good games to waste your money on this.
