I downloaded this application because it looked similar the tricorder from star trek. It is really cool. The sounds aren’t exactly like the one from star trek but are really close. The buttons make noise and the screens are animated and change when you press the bio, met, or geo buttons. Definitely worth the 99 cents!

Great visuals, animation, and sounds. As close as you can get without violating copyright! Worth the money.

Being not only a huge Star Trek fan but also a replica collector, I tried in vein to give into my money spending ego and purchase a Next Generation Tricorder for $400. The reason why I didn't was because not only was the replica $380 more than the playmates toy version, but it also lacked the features that the old toy came with. Like buttons that go beep!

Really fun. Great design and sounds. Can't wait for updates.

The one stars are dead wrong it's a great app I drool to think what else he will add as he is the first to hit it on the head and make the best tricorder app so far. I just wish the other tricorders out there would take a lesson from this app. Do the best you can the add more. Well worth more than a dollar

This app is by far the best Tricorder app as of January 2009. It's the ONLY one with decent sounds similar to Star Trek TNG, including scanning. I hope they can add a medical screen like a human body outline an perhaps some more functionality like changing scan noise with button press. Great work though!

What a cool app with a nice Star Trek feel. Would be great if it had some real functionality, I'm sure it could be done.

Great graphics + sounds! Thank you for doing a tricorder that doesn't disappoint.

It shouldn't take much to know what this does. It's meant to be novelty. People who demand too much from a $0.99 app (case in point, a 1-star review found in the reviews... can't miss it) should stop making unnecessary suggestions and develop a similar app and charge more, if they can make one better. I think the app is great just the way it is.

MUCH IMPROVED! Please also consider these suggestions: A) Pressing a Library button could 1st display "Accessing Library J" etc, then some random ST:TNG-ish text… etc B) Image Record buttons could: I) Display a live camera image in the scanner's display screen. II) Display a pre-selected or, at least, a random picture from photos. III) Display an animated graphic or video. IV) Record audio. V) Display a video representation of current audio input like the iPhone App "DiagnosticPADD" does. VI) Pressing RVS/Erase button could display an "End Recording, Data Deleated" message. Pressing FWD/Pool button a second time could display a "Data Recorded and Uploaded" message. C) The "INT" button should say "PWR" & activate/deactivate scanner. Display screen could show an animated "Powering Up" & "Accessing LCARS Database Via Subspace Transciever" or similar techno-babble. Add powering up sounds. Pressing PWR when scanner is on should trigger a similar "shutdown" sequence. D) Pressing the F1/F2 (P1/F2? Huh?) could toggle background sound on/off. The Library A/B slider could control the volume OR the F1/F2 button could cycle through preset volumes of Off, High, Med, & Low, then the Library A/B slider could switch between 2 different libraries of Display Screen audio/video animations. Doing this in conjunction with suggestion "F" below, would provide access to a total of 12 different audio/video animation sequences!! E) Alpha/Beta/Gamma/Delta should randomly flash red & green. F) The 2 "Sense" buttons should provide access to different audio/video animations for the Geo, Met, and Bio buttons (making 6 possible animations, 2 for each Device Input button. G) The Com Transmission buttons could result in "transmission" related audio/video animation sequences in the display window and/or something similar to the suggestion made in B)V). H) Font used should look authentic-see TR-580 Tricorder app. I) Animation ideas: nanobot, weapon, DNA & starship schematics; a Geo that displays live wave forms from accelorometer data (see iPhone App "iLCARS"). By combining the best of the other iPhone ST:TNG apps (iLCARS, Tricorder TR-580, and DiagnosticPADD), & these suggestions you'll have the best, most fun "killer" app in the Apple Store! You'll also be able to charge much more! I've upgraded my star review from 1 to 4 & will give 5 if it continues improving. Thanks!

Not even close to startreck's tricorder! Only about 3 different beeps (if you can call them that). Also the view screen is worthless not good at all. I was very disapponted : ( )) I AM A STARTRECK INTERPRIZE.(( : ))))) FAN(((((: Please update the app for a 5 star, I want you to have it!

Everything is awesome with this! I look forward to updates & additions! One thing that's missing though is the scanning sound. It would be great if one of the buttons triggered a loop of the tricorder scanning sound. I think that would make this app perfect.

I've seen most of the "tricorders" on here, and I have to say... yours is the best so far. I also think yours has a good platform to build off of. But, can anyone actually make one work??? Ideas to add: Shazam interface Location finder Say Where "saying: Computer....." Camera type scan Weather & temp More.... I would use your program more and more if it was able to do more than just look good and make sounds. THOUGHTS ANYONE?

I'm crossing my fingers that you'll keep up to date with this app... the old TR-580 Tricorder app that I PAID FOR no longer works on my iPhone for some ODD reason. 99 cents down the tube. Please keep this one up to date! It's definately neat!

Love it! Great animations. What I'd like to see is when you tilt the iPhone/ipod have the app change sounds. Pretty sweet. Come to think of it, the animations are not that far off from TNG. Hopefully you have more in store for us. My star trek club friends are so jealous. :)

I'm a big Star Trek fan, especially for the era of Voyager and the Enterprise-E, so I jumped at the chance of purchasing a tricorder app for my iPod Touch. The iScanner Tricorder is much better than I anticipated; the sounds are very realistic and the visuals are quite convincing. Undoubtedly, the best part is that there are 6 different animations that can display on the main screen.
