As you can imagine, Apple is hard at work right now prepping the App Store for the iPad launch this weekend. After releasing a new iTunes and approving literally hundreds of iPad only apps, Apple has just started populating the iPad App Store with universal applications as well. As a reminder, universal apps are this special “dual-mode” kind of iPhone applications that you can run on both your iPhone and your iPad, but still have a different interface depending on the device. Well, the first batch has just made its way to the iPad App Store and it’s not disappointing. Indeed, at the top of the iPad Apps Chart, you can now find iTap VNC client ($7.99), as well as iTap RDP client ($11.99); two great apps that allow you to remotely access and control your systems, something everybody has been very hyped about. You can already download them now on your Read More

Hospitals eye the iPad for low-cost paperless records
Calendar16 Wed, 03 Feb 2010 15:00:00 UTC +00:00
Unless you have absolutely no imagination, you've probably noticed the resemblance of the iPad to one of those cheap little clipboards that your friendly neighborhood doctor carries around on rounds. Apple is rumored to be making its own rounds of hospitals marketing the new über-iPod touch, having visited a hospital in LA in the recent weeks. What's so great about tablets for health care? When connected to a Wi-Fi network, they're perfect for looking up medical information or working patient charts while on the move. The iPad in particular would be perfect, having no keyboard to disinfect or lid hinges to break. In addition, the most expensive Wi-Fi iPad is priced at just US$699, while many traditional Windows Tablet PCs used in health care start in the neighborhood of $2,000. Of course, it all depends on the software. We recently received a question from a reader who just happens to be Read More

Very good so far on Version 1.0

Pros: FIPS-Compliant.
Fantastc!
MCornelia 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works great considering the limitations of the small user interface on th iPhone, but hey, that's the point. I just used it for support of a Windows 2003 server and it was awesome! Fixed my problem - no computer needed! Very impressed and cool to show off to your geek friends.
Kinda Works
spottedmahn 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
It crashes. Need easier way to pull up gestures reference. Doesn't always pass along username and pwd
Definitely the fastest RDP client out there!
rdp client user 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
iTap RDP client is definitely the fastest RDP client out there. I really love the new scope mode which came with the last update. They also seem to have fixed all the glitches of the first version, absolutely no crashes, several new features and separate settings while connected through Edge/3G.
Best RDP so far
hvidigaljr 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
It takes the best of touchscreen with smart controls and easy to use. I've tried several ones, and I can assure iTap is the BEST RDP so far!!!
Standing Ovation!!!
MR.GSE 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I access my work computer many times each day, it is one of the reasons I bought an iPhone. I am in sales and receive leads on my computer. I have 15 minutes to accept them or they expire and go to another AE. I had originally bought the Mochasoft RDP app and was very happy with it for 7 months. Then the 3.0 upgrade came out, and Mochasoft came out with an upgrade for the app to work with the 3.0 iphone upgrade. It never worked from the moment I upgraded my iphone to 3.0 it stopped working and cost me more leads than I care to count. It constantly kicked me off my Wifi connection which would then kick me off the VPN. I never had this problem prior to the 3.0 upgrade. I could not be more grateful to Mochasoft for their inability to get the app to function. I purchased this RDP last night and cannot believe how much more functionality it has. I am almost more grateful to Mochasoft for screwing up than you for making this app available. It is lighting fast, and has much, much more features. Easily 10 stars, and a standing ovation.
Great App
Michael Sisolak 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
The gestures are brilliant! Don't bother looking anywhere else - if you need RDP get this app. It becomes second nature in minutes and you can fly through screens. When you need the keyboard it's awkward but that's an iPhone screen size issue only.
Great App for IT Admins
Chris Amaris 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I was on vacation, stuck in mall out in the boondocks, and found out a server needed to have some services started. All I had was my brand new iPhone. I went to the app store, found this RDP app, and was able to remote in to fix the problem in less than 15 mins from the time I discovered the problem. Way cool! The performance and ability to zoom in on a section of the terminal server screen is great. The controls were a bit obtuse, but once you get the hang of them they're okay. Overall, a great app for any IT person who wants to access their Windows servers remotely.
Impressive, surprisingly well polished and fast!
Romulus+ 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I have several RDP clients as part of my IT tools; there are two at the top of my list that I switch between in order to enjoy the unique differences, and yes this is one of them. This product offers competition for the other top app - I look forward to seeing the new version due out, to enjoy the new features. Keep it up!
New update is awesome
ChiTownRed 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Keyboard with hornets is genius. Can get around company servers very easily relatively speaking. Keep up the good work!
Awesome implementation of RDP
ericwastaken 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
This app is well done, functions well and has a very well designed interface. The 'scope' mode (which magnifies the area just under the finger for precise control) is brilliant! I've already configured all my servers for easy access. If you are in need of an RDP client, this app is an excellent value!
Excited For Sound 
Colorless Winter 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
I am downloading iTunes music with this baby!!! My parents don't allow me to stay on the computer past 10pm so what do I do? I pull up this baby and I'm finishing projects all night! Even homework, all done! When they feature sound, oh ya five stars!!! Let me preview my music 
Excellent Software
Cailor 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Brilliant for quick support of Windows Servers. Looking forward to NLA support. Nice job with the gestures. Won't replace the full desktop experience, but certainly glad to have when a regular machine isn't handy or a quick task needs to be done! Would like the icon to be cleaned up. Don't need the text in the icon, especially with text under it on the iPhone. Make the "RDP" image larger and it will be good.
It actually works
Intrepid00 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
Wow an iPhone RDP app that actually works. I'll bump this up to five stars next update when NLA is thrown in. Really, this should be featured app quality. To think I blew away money on the other useless RDP apps. You made this IT guy very happy.
It's limited to 1024x768--App should be in the '80s or 90's
tm2 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
Totally disappointed that this app will only go to 1024x764 screen size. How quaint and outdated. Heck, the free RDP Lite goes higher than that!
Great app ... needs one more option
Sven K.. 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
I really like the app. It is very fast and easy to use. However, I would like to see a secure login to use the app. Can't remember the login, after a few tries the list of Rdp servers is destroyed.
Best RDP app, by far!
RevAaron 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Lile a lot of other reviewers, I'm an admin of buckets of Windows servers. I switched to the iPhone largely because the RDP and VNC apps on my company Blackberry were utter trash- WinAdmin and the like were a huge improvement over what the BB has. I'm glad I didn't just settle with the first RDP app that worked- iTap is definately the superior option in a field with some decent competition. I've tried many- WinAdmin, JaaduRDP, Mocha, Wyse- but iTap is the clear winner. Better input options, better connection mgt, better speed, and better navigation. Some of the other options don't even give you control keys, but you have the power of a full keyboard and some easy to use gestures with iTap. Definately impressed. I'm looking forward to the new release- thank you for unshackling me from my ThinkPad! :D
Killer app
GeoffRain 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
I've been using this app for a couple of days with my Windows Home Server and Windows 7 pc. It connects quickly and is very responsive. Scanning the bookmarks list to show which hosts are active is pretty slick, and the magnifyer makes it a lot easier to use a full desktop on the small iPhone screen. The gestures for keyboard, scrolling and logoff are also nice once you get used to them. With so many features already I feel guilty to ask, but it would be great to be able to send a WOL from the bookmarks list.
CHECK FIRST!!!
Liltimmyd 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
Wish I had combed through the fine print to see that my vista version is not supported because windows decided not to allow remote desktop access. Check your version before you spend the money for this App!
Update from 1.0 review
Ltrain69 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
App works with NLA enabled. Thank you!
Worth every penny!
SNG000 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
I thought it to be overpriced for an iPhone app...until I took the plunge and used it. It's all that, a bag of chips, a Coke, and a smile! :). Get it! I had been thinking of buying a netbook so my lazy azz would not have to keep getting out of bed to babysit processes running on my box. No more. This saved me at least a few hundred bucks! =D
Impressive!
MilwaukeeGuy 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
Loaded it up while waiting to see someone at a hospital. Used it to manage some updating actions with WSUS on a Windows 2003 server at a client site. Pretty slick. Like the way it provides for Ctrl, Alt, Esc and other keyboard functions. Like the one, two, and three finger gesture controls. Like the 'magnifying glass' that moves with my finger on a tiny version of a desktop window and lets me see what I'm 'pointing' at. Needs to be to handle larger and wide screen formats so desktop icon arrangements don't get horked up but I can deal with the screen resolutions it does offer. Very useful. Recommend it. Worth the paltry $12 they charge.
Easy to use
Jay.tea 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
I have been using this app, and it has worked great. My review previously complained that the update had broken the software, but I found it was a problem on the server side. The interface is great, and I love the magnifier feature in particular. I have no complaints about the resolution limit, I think it's just plain unreasonable to expect to have 1600x1200, but you should know that there is a limitation before you buy.
