Great game. Good graphics and sound. Make sure you have plenty of Tylenol, cause you will need it! One thing, for $5, should have more than 250 puzzles. Hope they add more puzzles with an update. If you have no clue what this game is about, google it, there's a free flash game available online. Need Facebook Connect so I can show it off to all the haters.

After a long wait, KenKen is finally available!.

Just acquired the KENKEN app and it's a perfect version 1. It's intuitive and gives choices for themes and screens, and has the ability to enter possibilities, erase, etc. Well done! There's even a simple but well though out tutorial to teach how to play, which was easy to follow.

This is a great game. It runs well and is easy to use. I hope they will update it with more games. I like the way the game teachers the game for newbies.

The application needs more puzzles at the highest difficulty levels. Ideally, the application should be able to download and integrate the daily puzzles from KENKEN.com just like the various iPhone crossword puzzle applications can do from a variety of websites.

This is more approachable than sudoku and is really fun. Nice challenge, great production values, and neat themes.

KenKen is a fun and challenging variation on Sudoku. I saw it in my newspaper, played it, and immediately went looking for it on the App Store. This application is well written and worth the $5.00. My only issue with it is that on an iPod Touch, it is hard to tell the difference between a plus sign and a division sign. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

This app has taken over my life.

There is a ridicoulusly large amount of puzzles. I was almost half way done with them all then the update came and I'm nowhere near to being finished now. This is a good buy if you really want a time waster. No joke!!!!

I love Ken Ken and this is a great app. The academy is a nice touch, but a little too easy. I also think there needs to be more of everything. More theme choices (how about a Street Fighter or Mega Man theme!), more puzzles and a slightly better UI. The puzzles are a little too small and the fonts can sometimes be hard to read. I do like the way you choose numbers and make notes. Capcom did a great job with this app. It's not perfect, but future updates should help. Regards.

I'm a KenKen addict. I would go to Borders, which is about 20 miles away from where I am to find any KenKen books I could, but they had hardly any at all. Most of the time, they had only the same ones that I already finished. Now, I can enjoy this great math game on my iPhone and not have to worry about carrying a book and pen around. Yes, I use pen because I rawk at KenKen.

This is a great app! The only suggestion is to have an option for larger font size for the little numbers. I have to get my reading glasses to play it. If I had the option of a larger font I could play it anywhere.

Over 1000 puzzles for $5. You can beat that.

It is great to have KenKen on the iPhone and the program works well. I like the progression through levels concept. A big negative is that is hard to distinguish between the plus and divide signs because of the font size and the background. A nice simple background with larger, clearer math operators would make this a five star review.

Update: I have found at least one puzzle where my correct solution was judged as incorrect by the app. As an avid fan of sudoku, I doubted that this could become my new favorite puzzle. I was wrong. I absolutely love the challenge of this kind of puzzle. Mostly the interface itself is smooth. However, the "notes" feature is sometimes clumsy. I wish it were possible, for example, to "lock" the green or red notetaking pen as I move around the grid, shutting off only if I shut it off myself. But all in all, well worth the $4.99.

Even before the uodate that brought the number of puzzles from 250 to over 1000, i thought the app was worth the money since a Will Shorts KenKen book that has only 100 puzzles costs $7.95 The app is nicely designed with the notetaking features similar to that of Sudoku. Overall, it's easy to use. I was first introduced to Kenken by this app, so for a complete beginner, I thought the Academy lessons in the app were very helpful and clear. The only thing want improved is that the division and plus signs could be more obvious, because sometimes it's really straining on the eyes.

The genius level includes puzzles without the mathematical operators. For me that's new and great fun. My biggest problem is with the font. It's nearly impossible to distinguish the addition from the division operators. My other concern is that it is not made clear that you must participate in and pass the "academy" in order to unlock all the puzzles. For more experienced players this can be a frustrating waste of time at the lower levels. For newbies to KenKen, it's a fine way to learn the basics. For myself, I did pick up some good tips at the final level. I would have preferred to skip a couple of classes. All-in-all, the algorithms seem flawless. I do agree that there are not enough puzzles. And that the interface and use of screen space needs improvement. It really should not be that hard to include an engine that can generate infinite puzzles on the iPhone.

Fair implementation, though a bit cluttered for my taste (themes and fonts). Nice to have more puzzles. "2doku" is still my favorite since it's cleaner, plays faster, and costs less.

my new favorite thing

I have been looking for a kenken app for a while. I love how it is set up. I like going back and trying to beat my times. I also like how with each level there is a mixture of easy and hard puzzles. When they get progressively harder it can be frustrating. The mix is great!

...but the game only recognizes the one it thinks is "right". This has happened twice so far with in puzzles without operators, once in Master and once in Genius. Otherwise, great game, though having to go through the Academy is tedious for non-beginners.

Kenken is the perfect strategy game! I first played it on the nytimes website, and I liked the game immediately. I never got into sudoku; to me, the puzzles were just uninteresting (that's not to say they were too easy). But the simple arithmetic in kenken adds a great dynamic. And whether you want to give kenken a try or already like it and want the best app, this is the one to get. It has a good "academy" for those who are new to it. And it haa a huge selection of puzzles across a range of difficulty levels. The functionality is also very intuitive. Give kenken a try!

What a terrific thing to put into your life. Fun, uses your mind, calming, similar feeling to when u r hooked on crosswords but faster.

This app was not a great value when it had only 250 puzzles and no ability to play music from one's itunes library. Now that it has 1000 puzzles and itunes, it's a very good value. The interface combined with a choice of 3 visual grid formats elevates Kenken above similar titles. Input is very precise and makes doing these puzzles a pleasure. Especially of value are the puzzles offered without arithmetic operators.
