Description

Clear your mind.

Imagine gazing into a pond of crystal clear water.
Picture bright, playful koi swimming through its shallow depths.
So close... Can you touch them?

You run your fingers across the cool surface of the pond.
Water ripples away from your touch.
The koi, disturbed, dart away.
Only to quickly forget and swim close to you once more...

We told you it was coming, and now here it is.  NimbleBit’s Dizzypad successfully navigated its way into the App Store today. Dizzypad, as described by NimbleBit, is a combination of Koi Pond and Doodle Jump, which should mean it is as soothing as sitting by a pond and as addictive as endlessly jumping on platforms. Dizzypad has you guiding a dizzy frog from one spinning pad to the next in an attempt to see just how far you can go.  The gameplay consists of simply tapping anywhere on the screen in order to make your frog jump, but you must time your tap well so you don’t fall into the pond.  The flowers on the right-hand side of the screen indicate how many lives you have which can be gained by being daring and skipping pads.  The bar on the left-hand side shows you your current high score progress. The game Read More
NimbleBit submitted their 10th game to the App Store today titled Dizzypad; and judging from the new gameplay video, it looks like it will be just as simple and addictive as all of their previous iPhone games. Nimblebit describes the game as a combination of Koi Pond and Doodle Jump.  Dizzypad drops you into a tranquil pond setting where you must guide your dizzy frog from pad to spinning pad to see just how far you can go.  You will be making daring leaps across open water by simply tapping anywhere on the screen.  You will also be able to earn extra flowers in order to extend your journey by taking a risk and skipping pads. The game will feature 15 unlockable frog skins by earning various awards, soothing sounds and graphics, and Plus+ integration for awards and leader boards. Dizzypad should be hitting the App Store any day now at Read More

Planet of the Apps on CNBC – Quick Thoughts
Calendar16 Fri, 08 Jan 2010 18:07:47 UTC +00:00
Last night CNBC aired its ‘Planet of the Apps: A Hand-held Revolution ‘ program, and I got a chance to watch it after the BCS national championship game finished.  It was nice seeing the iPhone, the App Store, and the whole mobile apps arena get featured like this in an hour long show; it was fascinating to me to see how a ‘mainstream ‘ media source covered these areas. The vast majority of the show focused on the iPhone, App Store, iPhone developers, and studies done amongst mobile app users.  I ‘m a sad iPhone / mobile tech geek, so I actually made liberal use of the Pause button and took notes during the program.  Hit the jump for some of quick notes on what caught my eye during the program – Admob estimates that $200 million is generated each month from App Store sales. – A fart app got mentioned Read More
10 iPhone Apps That Need a Push to Use the Accelerometer
Calendar16 Fri, 24 Jul 2009 01:04:54 UTC +00:00
Posted 07/23/2009 at 5:04pm | by Michael Simon There's no denying that the iPhone owes a large part of its success to the swift, rabid adoption of the accelerometer by the vast majority of the App Store’s 65,000+ apps. With an array of uses far beyond anything Apple ever dreamed possible, iPhone’s tilt controls have sparked a revolution of their own and raised the bar for mobile apps across all platforms. Of course, there are plenty of apps out there that limit their accelerometer use--or ignore it completely--but who are we to judge? It’s not like we spend our days trolling the App Store just so we can boil down tens of thousands of games and utilities to 10 or so that we think need improvement. So, here’s our list of 10 or so apps that we think need improvement: Eliss A crude, deceptively confounding game of wits and reflex, Eliss Read More
Apple Hits 1 Billion App Store Downloads!
Calendar16 Thu, 23 Apr 2009 23:24:28 UTC +00:00
Apple was expected to serve up their 1 Billionth (with a capital B) App Store download today, and lo and behold, Apple has announced that they’ve officially seen 1 billion iPhone/iPod Touch applications downloaded from their iTunes App Store! In less than a full year of existence, Apple and the iPhone have managed to make mobile applications as commonplace as an iTunes music purchase, and the App Store’s popularity continues to grow. The total tally of iPhone applications in the iPhone AppStore was estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 in March 2009. And, with thousands more iPhone applications hitting the AppStore on a monthly basis, Apple’s success with their integrated mobile application delivery model will likely continue. No wonder everyone and their grandmother are trying to launch mobile application stores of their own. For the record, it took Apple six whole months to reach the 500-million milestone. From Read More

With the App Store finally reaching 1 billion downloads, Apple has created a list of the top 20 iPhone and iPod Touch  paid App Store app downloads of all-time. Surprisingly enough, iFart made it in this list. Can you believe it? Out of the 35,000+ Apps in the App Store, iFart is one of the top apps. Below is a full list of the top 20 paid apps of all-time. My favorite app would have to be Enigmo and Fieldrunners. What’s your favorite app out of this list? Read More

I dunno what you guys are complaining about...
MarkMac 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Personally, I think this app is totally worth the 99 cents. Think how much money that is in the scheme of things--almost nothing. The graphics in this app are stunning. The water motion is amazing, and the koi look great and react well. I'm not going to say it isn't worth it now, but more features are always a plus. This app is also very quick and has ZERO lag whatsoever. Totally worth it for me, even if it is just a cute interactive animation in the end. And if you don't like it much, don't taint the reviews with a complaint and a single star. Give them credit for their work. Being a developer in the works right now, I can tell you that making this kind of app would be very difficult. So, I thank you, developer, for bringing such a nice little app to this community at such a low price, and I appreciate the amount of work and attention to detail. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future!

Night mode with flickering lanterns reflected in the water.
Very cute
JTdaddy 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I was looking for something to distract my 2-yr old for 10 mins on the plane flight tomorrow (amongst my aresenal of other distractions), and this should be just the ticket. The water illusion is very well done, and the fish are cute. If you're looking for a game, this is not what you want, but for a cute distraction it seems great (and hasn't crashed my IPod yet).
Very good 99 cent app
Jimmy3 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I would like more fish though and i wish i could feed them. It would also be nice if there could be weather tlike the reflection of th sun and clouds, or rain so the droplets make litle ripples in the water and make the reflction dissapear.Click yes if you agree. But it is a very nice app, very well polished and awsome graphics. I like the sounds.
Great app!
Oric77 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Realistic water ripples and koi behavior. Would be nice to have the option to change the water color to a more vibrant shade of blue in a future update.
Thx Blimp Pilots
theRealReview 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I was very resistent on buying this app I thought it would be stupid and would get boring after its first day. Then the 2.0 version came out and i still thought the same. But u cant go wrong with a dollar so i got and it just blew me away how good it was! The sound effects are amazing, the graphics r just WOW! and everything else is just amazing. This is an spplication that is worth the $1.
Very cool, but more fish please!
Addicted2iPhone 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love it-very relaxing. I need 2 things though: I need more fish and I want to feed them.
Impressive
carnevoodoo 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
A very polished, well done app. Really cool water simulation, overall a great diversion.
Too Cool
LongDec08 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This does exactly what it says and is priced right at 99 cents. Great look and feel. If you get bored after a couple of minutes don't rate the game low unless it doesn't perform as advertised, Umm, you moron. Agree that it would be neat to feed them as well.
As Advertised... When An Update Comes
LAZOMEGA 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
The Good: The movement of the fish is smooth and responsive when you touch the water near or where they're at. The option menu (i) is a nice touch - it's simple to adjust the amount of fish/leaves and color/tone of the water. Fairly priced at 99 cents.
Explores touch capabilities
ntrigue 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Beautifully rendered water effects make Koi Pond worth every penny. Allows you to select water color, number of Koi and vegetation. Makes for a welcome bit of relaxation in our chaotic lives. The sound is also terrific; very accurate effects.
Awesome!
sakkakth 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great looking app with pretty cool interaction. Fun to torment the little fishies! Best looking app out there to date! :)
My first "purchased" app
jaykkub 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
At 99 cents you can't go wrong with this zen-like app. Watch the koi swim and feel yourself begin to unwind and relax...
Koi pond
Ber12 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Beautiful graphics ... Unique concept ... For all ages ... Very calming.
This is My #1 "Show Off" App!
LotRsFan 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
With the 2.0 update, Koi Pond is now better than ever! This is "the" app I love to demonstrate to people to show off the best features of my iPod touch. It's fun to watch the smiles and the eyes light up in both children and adults (even the most elderly) when they touch the water and interact with the fish.
Olivoyle
MUDonYA 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
Very cool! If you think it's boring, that's because you were expecting a game full of tweeking crackhead activity...it's a freakin koi pond, your supposed to be relaxed by it jacka**es! When you pass a koi pond at someones house, are there asteroids to avoid, or do you often have to rescue a princess from it, do you race around in it? NO, you touch the water and feed the fish! I think it's exactly what they explain it to be, very realistic, and relaxing! Glad to have it on my phone! If you want something that keeps you crazy, try a fast paced game, and in the future pay attention to the discriptions before you buy, READ THE REVIEWS, they really help! QUIT BITCHING because you didn't pay attention to what you bought! I'm sure you're the same idiots that complain that your expiration date is past when you get home from the grocery store because you were to f**king stupid to read it before you bought it!
One of my favorite apps!
Sio2man 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I thought this would be cute app to show people, but it turns out to be one of the best apps I bought! Very relaxing, and the graphics are wonderful. My only suggestion would be to brighten the screen some.
STUNNING
Badrice 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Purely stunning
not bright or colorful
susan404 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great app would give it a 5 star rating if I could see it...it is muffled looking..when the first logo screen pulls up it is nice and colorful, then when the app pulls up its dark and muted. Please brighten the colors...it is a great app, but the beauty would be in the color...where is the color?
Koi Pond is full of Zen
ziermeister 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
The app has great graphics and sound. I really like the fact it can be customized to my mood and feeding the fish is fun. The price isn't bad either for something similar to a screen saver.
Neat, good looking & simple application
Kallel000 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
For 1 dollar, you can't go wrong with this app.
Lucas McCain
Lucas McCain 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very cool, love the sound effects
Really Shows Off iPhone's Capabilities
TheChef 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The graphics are fantastic, the koi look very lifelike and respond appropriately when you touch the 'water'. This really shows off what can be accomplished on the platform, and the price point is excellent. More developers should consider the platform they're designing on instead of trying to cross games over, the iPhone is a leap forward, so the applications should mirror that leap. I would highly recommend this application for the simple fact of what it does, and what it could do down the road.
A remarkably impressive little app. Buy it now!
CDubber 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
Version 2 addresses my minor quibbles with the initial version. I'm raising my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Buying Koi Pond is a no-brainer. This is the first app I fire up whenever I want to show off my favorite gadget of all time (the iPhone). And Koi Pond never fails to impress.
Peaceful
Stolenketchup 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

Great job......

Relaxing and beautiful app. It is worth the money.
My Favorite App ! Get it NOW!
DJ Lee 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
My own Koi Pond in my iPod Touch ! The new rain effect is excellent, very relaxing... Two new sounds they could add: Wind Chimes playing softly in the wind, the second sound could be an oriental flute player softly playing in the distance. One More New Effect: - Cloudy Skies on a Sunny day - the cloud shadows play across the bright waters - very beautiful in real life. One More visual effect: - A single oriental turtle swiming across the screen... Turtles are often a nice addition to koi ponds. A wonderfully relaxing App that you can watch while listening to the iPod play relaxing new age music. An iPod Touch must have - I'm so very happy I have it !
I was bored then.....The Update changed everything
hamed123 5.0 stars Version: 2.5
