Welcome to the weekly roundup of the best new Android applications, games, and live wallpapers that went live in the Market or were spotted by us in the previous 3 weeks or so. This is PART 1 of the app roundup. You can find PART 2 here. The game roundup from this week can be found here and the tablet app roundup here. Please wait for this page to load in full in order to see the AppBrain widgets, which include ratings and pricing info. Looking for the previous roundup editions? Find them here. Today's roundup is sponsored by HeroCraft's latest game - Musaic Box. Our own Liam Spradlin reviewed this game a few weeks back and found it to be excellent for both lovers of puzzle/hidden object games and music. In HeroCraft's own words: -- Musaic Box is an unusual combination of musical puzzle and a detective quest. Its scenario Read More
The Large Hadron Collider scares me. It's the baddest monster machine on the planet and it's capable of creating material that's denser than anything but black holes, it possibly found the Higgs Boson and probably can destroy humanity. It's an unknown beast. How do you make it less scary? Get to know it. LHSee (heh) for Android shows you what's happening inside the LHC. What's it do? If you ever wanted to learn more about what the Large Hadron Collider at CERN actually does, LHSee fills you in. It shows live data inside the particle accelerator in a 3D view, you can even see protons collide with one another. The 3D View, of course, isn't some live video look in of the LHC, you're looking at 3D models here, but you can rotate it around, zoom in and zoom out to get a better look or different angle at what's going Read More

Glorious beyond words. Geekgasm-tacualr-extravaganza. Needs an option to adjust auto refresh rate of displayed new events though. Galaxy S. is a fantastic app. Well presented, fast and stable. Not to mention awesome info! I love the idea of allowing people to explore something so scientifically important to us as civilization. Interesting to see the results of what goes on in the lab. For a non-physics buff, this is very interesting! Works seamlessly on the G2 5* for making all this info available, but the UI of this app is Awful. Quite terrible looking but still giving it 4*s Educational, fun, beautifully done. What's not to love about this app? Actually nice to see how the detectors work. Only thing that would make this cooler is an active wallpaper of the streamed collision events Nothing works, be it in-screen buttons or capacitive buttons. No way to give direct feedback to the developer. Read More

You’ve probably already heard that a particle moving faster than the speed of light has been found at CERN in Switzerland. Perhaps reading the news is not good enough experience for you, maybe you want to know more about the Large Hadron Collider and the people on the edge of modern physics. Luckily… there’s an app for that. An Android app to be more precise, that allows you to dig deeper into the project and even play a little game called “Hunt the Higgs.” Here’s what the official app description says about the LHSee app: LHSee makes the Hadron Collider accessible to anybody with an Android smartphone or tablet PC. Written by Oxford University scientists in collaboration with the ATLAS experiment at CERN, it is designed for use by experts and non-experts alike. Sounds worth checking out if you ask me. And since it’s a free download, there really is no Read More
