Since Life Of Android started writing this guide to the top five Android travel apps, the infamous Great British rain has been lashing down relentlessly against our office windows. It’s summer and we’re either meant to be relaxing on a beach somewhere consuming copious amounts of booze or capturing the world’s foremost wonders on our smartphone camera. Instead, we’ve compiled the best apps to take with you on your summer travels. All you’ll need to use them is an Android handset and a smart data plan/free wi-fi connection. You don’t have to thank us now, just remember to send over a postcard. As a tourist there are traditionally two methods to communicate with locals who speak in a language you don’t understand. Firstly, stick to your own native tongue but enunciate every sentence very, very slowly. Captain America

| $2.99 | Marvel Games
Comic book movies are huge business. Already this year cinemas up and down the country have played host to Thor, The Green Hornet, X-Men: First Class and The Green Lantern. This weekend, Captain America makes his debut as the final member of Marvel’s all-star Avengers brigade. Oh and did we mention Cowboys & Aliens, a film starring 007 or Daniel Craig as his mother calls him, is due out in August? With such a wealth of blockbuster capers derived from the humble comic book industry, we at Life Of Android thought it was about time we picked the top cartoon offerings on Android. Delve in and get excited before heading off to watch Captain America: The First Avenger at your local multiplex this weekend. Apparently, non-geeks are allowed to buy a ticket too. DC Comics Sadly Marvel Comics, home to the likes of Spider-Man, Wolverine and Iron Man, have yet to release their fantastic iPad app on Android. Given DC Comics boast an arsenal of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, there’s more than enough material to keep us entertained in the meantime. With over 1,000 comic books and graphic novels published annually plus and archive of free and older offerings to tuck into, this really is a great app for novices and fanatics alike. Fresh Comics Fresh Comics is most relevant for our friends in the US but any UK nerds wanting to know roughly when their weekly import will arrive should take note. The app essentially works as a catalogue whereby users can search by publisher for the comic book they want, find out its release date and their nearest stockist. All that’s left to do is pop down to your local retailer and read the damned thing. We’re beginning to see how The Simpsons’ Comic Book Guy put on Read More
