How Line2 accidentally disrupted the phone industry
Calendar16 Tue, 17 Jan 2012 12:00:00 UTC +00:00
Last week at CES 2012, I met up with Line2 CEO Peter Sisson; he is a man who's done a lot of butting heads with big companies over what started off as a pretty simple proposition. Line2's basic concept was to create a second line (for business or personal calls) on your iPhone. Sisson's original idea was just to have "two lines on one phone," but making that possible for users has turned out to be quite a headache over the years. The issue, he says, isn't the technology at all. Line2 already has an iOS app out there that provides some pretty impressive services on both the iPhone and the iPad. We've looked at the service before, but it's only gotten better since it went live 18 months ago, now providing the ability to simply place a call (using an interface that's almost identical to the iPhone's regular phone app) Read More
Line2 HD Adds Phone Features To The iPad
Calendar16 Wed, 21 Sep 2011 09:48:29 UTC +00:00
Line2 HD may not be the first app to turn your iPad into a phone, but it is an easy-to-use addition that puts phone calls, texts, voicemail and e-mail on a single screen—and offers a stack of other features as well. Like Line2’s iPhone app the HD version lets you make or receive calls over a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. You get a new phone number (like Google Voice), which can also receive texts and has voicemail. A nice feature of the voicemail is that it can send an audio file to your email so you can listen over your computer, in case if you don’t have your iPad with you. You can also forward calls to another phone, such as your land line. Line2’s app also connects to your iPad contact list and features call waiting, caller ID, and conference calling for up to 20 people. Calls can be made Read More
Line2 makes a compelling offer for Verizon iPhone 4 users
Calendar16 Wed, 09 Feb 2011 07:36:56 UTC +00:00
Line2, the popular mobile VoIP app for iOS and Android devices, has a compelling offer for Verizon users, allowing them to save up to $1,000 per year on their Verizon bill. Moreover, the company is betting on Verizon iPhone’s lack of simultaneous voice and data to entice consumers to use Line2. As you probably know, the problem with CDMA-based networks (like those operated by Verizon and Sprint) is that they don’t allow simultaneous voice and data. In real-life this could mean that your mobile data hungry apps won’t work while you’re on a call. E-mail, Twitter and other Internet-connected apps will return to their “normal state” when you’re done talking. With Line2, that talk could go through Verizon’s EV-DO network (for mobile data) or a WiFi hotspot, allowing your apps to keep “doing their thing.” That said, Line2 recommends that Verizon iPhone users port their main number to Line2 at no Read More

Well read on for TiPb’s top 5 most recommended, most must-have apps to get your Android experience maximized on iPhone. 6 Great VOIP Apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
Calendar16 Thu, 09 Dec 2010 15:01:05 UTC +00:00
Having an iPhone is nice and all, but calling isn’t always free. Then there are those with other iOS devices, such as the iPad and the iPod Touch, both of those devices can be made into a phone if you’d like, thanks to some great VOIP apps that make free calling possible. Have a look at the currently-available Apps that allow you to make VOIP calls on your iOS device: 1) Viber – Free Phone Calls This a cool little App that’s popular right now. Viber doesn’t require you to create an account, doesn’t need you to create a username or hand over a credit card number. The only catch is that to call someone, they must also have Viber. It creates an identity with your current number and only uses your minutes if the other user doesn’t happen to have the App. Other highlights include the fact that it doesn’t Read More

Few days ago, we talked about the latest version (3.0) of Line2 iPhone app, which brought carrier-grade SMS texting in addition to the existing VoIP functionalities. Today we’re please to say that SMS proved to be a smashing success among Line2 users, as they’ve sent over one million text messages in the first four days after the launch! As you may’ve heard before, Line2 costs just $9.95/month and includes unlimited US/Canada calling and texting. The application is especially cool if you own the iPod Touch or iPad, as it basically turns the two devices into full fledged phones — all you need is a WiFi network in order for Line2 to work. Alternatively, even the iPhone users can save on calls and texting, especially if they’re not on some expensive unlimited plan… And that’s about all we have for you at this point. If you have the iPod Touch, this is Read More

By Rene Ritchie, Wednesday, Jun 9, 2010 | Peter Sisson, founder and CEO of Toktumi talks Line2, their premium, business-optimized calling solution for the iPhone and iPad (with optimized iPad UI coming soon). While many forms of communications have leapt forward in the digital age, our telcos have been content to keep telephony in the relative dark ages. Line2 is one of several services hoping to pull them kicking and screaming forward, with both cell and VoIP based solutions. Currently you can conference call over VoIP — which is really nice on an iPad — with full call waiting and real SMS functionality. With iOS 4 VoIP will work in the background meaning apps like Line2 could just be first-class telephone solutions (and strangely carriers don’t seem to be as afraid of this as they used to be). Line2 competes with free-as-in-Google voice by offering a more user-centric app, with lots Read More

Line2 Adds a Second Line to Your iPhone [VIDEO]
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Mar 2010 15:52:48 UTC +00:00
by Line2 is a mobile app from Toktumi that’s a refreshing option for iPhone users who need to maintain a separate personal and a business phone number. It’s also useful — and potentially revolutionary — for iPhone owners who want to cut down on their monthly voice minutes by allowing them to place calls over Wi-Fi as well as over 3G Voice Over IP (VOIP). As opposed to the Google Voice approach, which routes a single number to multiple phones and requires you to determine whether any particular incoming call is business or personal, Line2 easily separates your personal and business contacts into separate tabs and allows incoming calls to easily sort themselves based on context. The interface of the app is intuitive and easy to use — in fact, it’s visually identical to the iPhone’s own phone interface (which is an impressive feat considering App Store rules that typically frown Read More

Add A Second Line To Your iPhone with Line2
Calendar16 Fri, 26 Feb 2010 21:13:15 UTC +00:00
For only $15 a month, you can apparently add a second line to your iPhone. Using the new Application Line2, and VoIP provider Toktumi, that will allow you to have a fully functioning second line, including visual voicemail. This could be ideal for small business users, and for those of you that really love to talk. The service is available in US and Canada and comes with the first month FREE. The following month's are billed in at $14.95. The appstore seems to contradict some pricing points, but if you head over to Toktumi's website, you can see the price rates there. Most of the VOIP apps available on the AppStore require a WiFi connection, but in the case of Line2, this app will work on both WiFi and 3G. There is also a plethora of features bundled in as well, including call waiting and call transfer, conference calling with up Read More
Line2 adds a second line to your iPhone for $15 a month
Calendar16 Fri, 26 Feb 2010 19:00:00 UTC +00:00
Would you like to add a second line to your iPhone? Perhaps you'd like to add a business number to the phone, but your existing phone is currently tied to your personal mobile number. You could always carry a second phone, but that's an expensive proposition, particularly if you're an iPhone addict. VoIP provider Toktumi has a solution that may work out well for you. They're now selling an app called Line2 (US$0.99) that mimics many of the capabilities of the standard Phone app, complete with a form of visual voice mail. Purchasing the app provides you with one month of free VoIP service. After that point, each month's continued service costs $14.95 for unlimited calls within the US and Canada. The service is purchased in-app, and was a point of confusion for me -- the app listing in the iTunes store shows a "Top In App Purchase" at a cost Read More

Add A Second Line To Your iPhone With Line2
Calendar16 Mon, 22 Feb 2010 17:11:37 UTC +00:00
There are already some solutions to place and receive calls on your iPhone without going through your carrier or by using call forwarding. Google Voice, for example, does a good job at that despite lacking a native app, and we’re all waiting for  Skype over 3G. Let’s face it though, those aren’t really integrated all-in-one solutions. Line2, by the VoIP provider Toktumi, tries to address exactly that. It basically provides you with a second, full-featured phone-line on your iPhone that you can use to place and receive calls as you wish using both VoIP and call forwarding. After picking a phone number at the first launch, Line2 looks actually very much like the iPhone’s native phone app.  It has the keypad, your contacts, a visual voicemail, call history and even a whole bunch of setting to forward and filter calls. It works over 3G, and while your incoming calls will be Read More
This Week’s App Store Updates – 19th February
Calendar16 Fri, 19 Feb 2010 15:13:52 UTC +00:00
Browsing the App Store this weekend?  Here are seven new or updated apps worth taking a closer look at if you are: This is the official application from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  There is a list of all the 2010 nominees, with trailers for each picture, plus the chance to predict the winners of each category ahead of the ceremony. A great looking and most importantly, free, multiple service IM client, which has support for AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, Windows Live, MySpace and Facebook, plus a variety of others.  The app has Push notifications and connects via EDGE, 3G and Wi-FI. Another great game from PopCap, this is a port of the popular PC/Mac version.  You must fight off invading hordes of zombies, using just as the title suggests, only a collection of plants.  There are 50 levels, iPhone exclusive achievements and the great graphics and sound Read More
It seems Apple has changed their tune on the way VoIP apps are allowed to make calls on its iPhone. Apple has just approved an update to the Line2 app that actually allows the iPhone to make and receive phone calls over a 3G or WiFi internet connection. That’s a stark departure from Apple’s previous stance on the issue, when, just this past year, Apple gave the Google Voice iPhone app the cold shoulder and locked it out of the AppStore. A lot has changed since then. The Line2 iPhone app essentially gives any iPhone an additional phone line (a business line, for example) with which to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls. Until now, though, the Line2 app was limited cellular connectivity only. This new version of Line2 for iPhone finally gives the app the ability to route all those business phone calls over WiFi and 3G data networks, with Read More

The application acts as a mix between Google Voice and Skype, allowing small businesses to add a separate, dedicated business line to their iPhones in addition to the phone’s “regular” number. The service also includes features like conference calling, auto-attendant, advanced call management, and more. And today, Line2 is getting an update that makes the app “dual mode”, allowing it to handle both inbound and outbound calls over cellular voice Read More
January 4, 2010 by Brian     Unlimited calls + Second number on your iPhone — does that sound like a dream? Actually, that’s the new reality with the Line2 iPhone app and service by Toktumi. What’s Line 2 and who are Toktumi, you may ask? Well Toktumi is a well known VoIP lines and PBX services provider (link), and Line2 is their latest foray into the VoIP business, and this time it’s the mobile (iPhone) one. Just so you don’t miss their mission statement, the company bluntly states that Line2 for iPhone “adds a second number with voicemail” to your device. And according to the company, “since the Line2.app calls use the cellular network so you don’t need to find a wifi hotspot to use it“. It also offers unlimited local calls With such bullish statements and really cheap international calls prices — they start at 2 cents a minute Read More

Works like a charm - better than Google Voice, RingCentral, etc...well worth the money!!
Working great now
fthead9 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I had some issues initially getting it to work with my Toktumi 800# but it must have been a bug they fixed. I signed up the first day and once the sync issue was resolved it's been working great. It's the perfect compliment for my main Toktumi phone line. Turns my iPhone into a portable office with my email and now my biz number, voicemail, and contacts whereever I am.
I'm a fan

Hi everybody - I want to clarify that Line2 is *not* focused on consumers looking for a cheap calling solution. Line2 is for business professionals who want to be able to have separate numbers for business and personal calls on one phone. The ability to have their business calls handled with separate voicemail greetings, call screening, call announce, contact-based call routing, after-hours settings, an auto-attendant, etc - that is the primary value proposition. The reason Line2 uses cellular instead of wifi is because busy professionals can't pull over their car and find a starbucks everytime they want to make a call from their business line. That said, version 2.0 will be dual-mode and support wi-fi calling.
Does not work
Michael Atashi 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app does not save the info you put in to use your existing toktumi account. I can't understand why they would put up an app when the first set up screen is not functioning.
Not sure
User3000 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
1. When you make a call from your iPhone, it uses your air time. (Same as Google voice which is free.)
works ok
TBSP 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
1) not very easy to setup. 2) support hasnt answered my questions yet 3) when an incoming call comes in on the iphone there is no way to tell it is coming in via/on line2 4) no place to call for support 5) no lunch setting 6) no holiday setting 7) no explanation of terminology i'll try it for the free 30 days to see if it works. as of now - there is no differenece between just call forwarding to my iphone and line2 forwarding
Can't Toktumi
Frank! 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Although I am a fan of the Toktumi service, and am a fan of the iPhone, when the two of them come together I can't figure them out. Although the interface seems simple enough, nothing works! I have entered my phone number twenty times and it keeps disappearing when I try to use any of the functions. I may be doing something wrong, but it shouldn't be so difficult for someone who has been using computers since 1985, twelve hours a day.
Waste of a dollar
Kodestar 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
You have to pay $15 a month for the service. I think I'd rather wait for my Google Voice invite.

stonecold33 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
It was tricky to setup and had some problems but then it worked fine.
Beware: uses AT&T plan minutes!
binderclipnation 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
By using this app you WILL use your AT&T plan minutes for both incoming and outgoing calls. This does NOT work as Toktumi's PC soft-phone does. You also cannot initiate calls over WiFi, so of litte use when traveling overseas or in areas without cell coverage. Your outgoing caller id will appear as your Toktumi number. That's about it. Line2good2btrue...
Great concept, but outgoing calls don't seem to work & getting phone calls all hrs of the day now?

I like this product, if it works. Hopefully version 2 will be much better.

iPhone App Crashing

I like it.

What?
CletusGlory 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
How did this app get approved when Google Voice apps were rejected? Plus $15 per month is far too expensive for this service.
No no no
Jentrysky10 2.0 stars Version: 1.54
First off customer service is non existant! The only way to contact support is through email. I have left two on Thursday and Friday with no response to either! A major problem with this app is you don't know what number someone is calling. So when it comes time for u to return their call u don't know what number to do it from! I was thinking of just looking in the recent call log of the app to see of it got the call but allthe recent calls show up as YOUR number and they also show up in your original iPhones recent log. If they find a way to help you identifiy which number a call was coming for(original or line2's) then this app would be perfect for me. Until then it's a pain in the a** to use and and kind of pointless!
If you have crashes
esoffron 4.0 stars Version: 1.54
I found that the app would immediately quit when I logged in, even after a fresh iPhone reboot. What fixed it for me was to put in a wrong password one time first and then enter my correct password after the failed login -- no crash.
Great App
Sorsik 5.0 stars Version: 1.54
I love this app!! The two things that would make this app heaven sent would be the ablility to recieve text and mms! Text & mms would be forwarded right to your email on file. Also to have the ability to record calls right from the app then forward them to email would be awsome!!!
SOFTWARE DOESN't WORK ON IPHONE or MACS for WINDOWS ONLY
Diplomattm 1.0 stars Version: 1.54
I signed up online at the site, but there is no way to start using the APP without SIGNING UP AGAIN for ANOTHER NUMBER??!!
Pass the buck...
EdgeRegalo 1.0 stars Version: 1.54
The app crashes most of the time... and that's just the tip of the iceburg. Customer service is crap. It took ALOT of my time trying to hunt someone down to answer simple questions. The service simply isn't what it says it is. When I finally got contacted by their CEO about why I didn't like their service OR the app I was told that all of my problems were because I was on AT&T... Way to pass the buck! Don't waste your money on the app or the service!

This app should have 5 stars every feature has worked perfect it does everything the app describes unlike some apps out there I can't wait till wifi comes out. customer service was prompt within hours does not get better than that. Thank you to the toktumi team. Now that wifi is here their app should be a ten. Customer service rocks always willing to improve any situation if you don't know how to use their service learn it don't give the bad rating this is one company that does not deserve a bad rating. Very happy with toktumi. Thank you!

Amazing program
ZeroHourSolutions 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
This program combined with Toktumi's hosted PBX system is the ideal solution for the small business owner. Their tech support is top notch. I can't say enough good things about this service.
Requires a contract
v28 4.0 stars Version: 1.54
It's my fault, I didn't see the "more" link in the description to read the part that said requires a $20 a month contract before I downloaded the app. It's only $.99 so I won't complain too much. Aside from that. It's a nice app but I doubt I will continue to use it beyond it's free trial.

I am a Toktumi customer that just transitioned our company's phone service and number to toktumi. Am extremely disappointed in the reliability of this app. Crashes on opening every time when running latest iPhone OS. This app needs more support and resources devoted to its development.
Pricey but works great!
ST0NEYD 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
A bit pricey in addition to your monthly. Worked great on first try! Need interface with Mac OS X.
Great start!!!
MusicManMike 4.0 stars Version: 2.0
My area code is suppose to be added soon. Needs to sync better with iPhone contacts. Need to keep iPhone groups when syncing and keep the card format(one contact with multiple numbers). Need SMS asap.
Awesome service.

Love it. The auto attendant allows me to screen callers. I can separate my personal calls from work calls. You should def sign up!
Does NOT work on iPod Touch-2nd Gen!!!
cheeriegirl 1.0 stars Version: 2.1
I was so excited about this software being able to turn my 2nd generation iPod Touch into a "phone", that I went ahead and purchased it. However, after a few seconds, iTunes has a message for me that states ..."This application will not run on this version of iPod Touch." The message appeared AFTER I'd purchased the app! According to the software description above, it should operate on a 2nd generation iPod Touch with the latest software update ... I have both of those. It would make more sense if Apple iTunes offered a way for the apps to "check" your device PRIOR to purchase to ensure the app will run as described.
Needs PUSH and SMS
Ggcjjgfddhjf 4.0 stars Version: 2.1
This app rocks!!! It does everything it says it does, and the call quality is well worth the $15/mo. I trust this app with very important business calls. My only suggestions for improvement are (1) that it needs PUSH notifications for incoming calls. Presently, the app must be open and running to receive an incoming call. If you're using some other app and someone calls you, your caller goes straight to voicemail. It would be great if you got an alert so that you could close out the other app, open Line2 and answer the call. And (2) SMS would be great since people generally assume that they can send a text to a cell phone number. Presently, if someone texts your Line2 number, the message is lost in the cloud. That is to say that you never receive the text, and the sender never gets any "bounce-back" message letting him/her know that the text didn't go through. Add these two features and the app is 5-star worthy hands down.
International NOT

Got this after reading a stellar review in the International Herald Tribune. Unfortunately, only works on phones registered in the USA... Very sad.
Needs push

Need push but other than that is awesome
Exactly as advertised, but better
Wake Walker 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
This spells the end for AT&T...this app works amazing well, and the clarity between 2 callers using Line2 (which isn't necessary) is scary good. I just added this as our home number, which means I just saved $63 a month on a home phone as well. Great app!
Great App
Sorsik 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
I love this app!! The two things that would make this app heaven sent would be the ablility to recieve text and mms! Text & mms would be forwarded right to your email on file. Also to have the ability to record calls right from the app then forward them to email would be awsome!!! ALSO WHAT WHOULD BE GREAT! IF YOU COULD CONTROL THE AUTO ATTENDENT FEATURES FROM THE APP, like turning it on or off!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Cecil3 1.0 stars Version: 2.2
I wanted to upgrade my trial account, but after 2 unreturned emails to customer service and 3 HOURS total waiting on 2 CHAT sessions, I gave up. They ONLY have CHAT Customer Service. Emails to their customer service account are not returned and the job tickets have been erased when you log into your account. No Phone number is given out even when requested.
I love this app
Byran 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
Right now I'm using the app on the iPad, in an enlarged state (2x pixels), and I can't wait for the ipad version to make it's appearance. In it's current incarnation, it's phenomenal. I can use my MiFi to make calls, I can call my number from my cell phone and be connected to any number I want, and all my business contacts can call me. For me, as a small business, its perfect. Their voicemail (IVR) routing is great, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the call clarity, and functionality. When the iPhone 4.0 OS is released, I'll be able to keep this app in the background, and I CANT WAIT. Way to knock it out of the park, Toktumi. $15 per month, AND a toll free number? It's a winner.
Best app on my phone
RobotChicken142 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
Despite lacking text over wifi and lock screen notice, this is the best application I own. I have only wifi at my house, so I set the iPhone call forward to my Line2 number and background the app. It works perfect and once 4.0 is released widely, you'll be able to get calls no problem without leaving the app open all the time. It just needs text, lock screen notice/ability to answer, AND ring tone change, hopefully with the next/4.0 update. Totally worth the money to still get my calls at home. Best app ever.
I was dubious, but it really does work!
Cardshark60 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
After review in the NY Times, figured we'd try it. We want it for several purposes, to: 1) have a cheap "local" number where our vacation home is; 2) cut the number of minutes I'm paying for with AT&T (savings of $20 per month); 3) be able to use this at home and get rid of landline (annual savings of approx. $400); and 4) make inexpensive international calls from my iPhone and from my wife's cell phone, too. When I went online to Line2's website and saw calling rates of 1 and 2 cents per minute to Germany, the UK, etc., I realized we needed to try this. So I downloaded the app. Went to the website for info. The site seemed barebones (i.e., insufficient) until I clicked on the Line2 User Guide and Contact Us links at the bottom of the page. (Note to Toktumi: those need to be more clearly labeled and easier to see.) Once I did that, everything was pretty easy, and I'm a 50 year old layperson, not a young techie. Connected my wife's cell phone and my phone, paid the $14.95 for a month's subscription, and then made a short call to Britain from my wife's phone. It showed up on the call history, and it did indeed cost 1 cent to call London for a minute! Wow! Call quality was decent, better than Skype, but not quite as good as a good cell or landline connection. All told, by paying Line2 $14.95 per month, we're saving $20 at AT&T, saving AT LEAST $10 per month on international calls, saving approx. $35/month by getting rid of landline AND we're getting a second line on my cell phone in another area code where we wanted a local line. Quite a deal! And really not very difficult to deal with, even for a middle-aged non-techie.
Great product
Zachs dad 4.0 stars Version: 2.2
For those of you that knock it because it's 15$. You don't understand that it's not just calling. First it's the best call quality. Second Bluetooth over Voip third 3g calling. Now the actual calling features: call forward, manage phone calls do not disturb times, types of calls to put through or not. And an 800 #. Use the product for its fill intended use and not just voip calls. Then voice your informed opinions. Great Product
Game Changer!
Arcojuve 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
First of all, people need to realize that this is THE ONE that wool eventually help lower cell phone rates in the future !! My iPod touch is now a cell phone!! Of course you need the microphone but with it you can now make phone calls for only $15 a month! (the first months free) What exactly is the problem people?? You just got in on the ground floor of a tech revolution!!
I saved $500 in a week
Laurent W 5.0 stars Version: 2.3.1
Traveled to China for 10 days. Line2 saved me at least $500 of roaming fees!!! Transferred my 800 number since. Voicemail is great and very easy to setup. One of the best app I got in 3 years
The Best Option for iPhone VOIP -- But it Could Be Better
TedBater 4.0 stars Version: 2.4.1
The latest update has added support for iOS4 with background VOIP. In practice, it seems to work fairly well over WiFi. I work in a building with zero AT&T coverage but WiFi everywhere. Line2 offers me a nice solution for making calls when I'm at work. It's been my hope that iOS4 and Line2 would bring me the ability to answer calls anywhere...however in practice, this doesn't always work as some calls just won't come through. I believe that this is because the building where I work is blanketted in mutliple access points causing the iPhone to constantly be switching between them. The fault is likely with the iPhone's ability to negotiate its transition between points rather than with Line2...but only time will tell. But for being able to stop in one location, ensure I have a WiFi signal, and make an outgoing call--it's fantastic. Call quality of Line2 is second to none. It's at least as good as my cell coverage and 1000x better than any other iPhone solution--especially the free ones like Skype. I've made blinded calls to my wife from work asking her which service I sound better on; the choice is always clear, Line2 blows away the others. And it's not just in the call clarity, but it cuts MUCH less than the competition. Overall, the service is great and works well. However, with all the robust call settings and features at your fingertips, the fact that you still cannot send/receive SMS or MMS means that this app is severely handicapped at the momment. I would LOVE to be able to give my Line2 number out to both my friends and businesses as my primary contact, but I simply can't do this because they'll never be able to send me a text message. If they're going to tout this service as a business replacement, then SMS support is an absolute must and is critical for its success. SMS should be their first priority right now. Fix SMS and you'll have a 6 star app.
Wont issue a number - no tech support
The Senator1 1.0 stars Version: 2.1
I bought this app for .99, they offer a free trial and then charge 14.99 a month after that. The app should technically be free. However, not the issue. When trying to get a phone number it wont issue a phone number. I tried an 800 number, a local number and even numbers from other states. NOTHING. The worst part. If you click on their tech support the page is invalid. If you try to contact them through their website its also invalid. There is a lot to say about a company that doesnt even have a support email or phone number. BUYER BEWARE!
Great app! Works as advertised.
kmac99 4.0 stars Version: 2.1
I read about this app in The New York Times and thought I'd give it a shot. I'm impressed with its features and ease of use. The DoS attack they sustained was unfortunate and certainly embarrased the developers, but everything is running smoothly again. I really like this app and am recommending it to all my friends before Apple pulls it from the App Store. -Ken San Antonio, TX

So far so good
SketchyEMT 4.0 stars Version: 2.1
Downloaded this AM with no problems... It's almost like a hypervisor as it's a virtual phone on a physical phone. Mine works fine so far - though they did not have any numbers in my state (WV) :o( other than that, it's working great so far...
Very very good and getting better
Chuck3D 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
I work in Canada a lot. Talk to Canada. AT&T's long distance and roaming after just my first month would have been close to $300 already. Sometimes there is a glitch or two, people ring my VOIP number and it's my iPhone not my VOIP answering. But I just end the call and call them back. Doesn't always happen. I wish the VOIP did not have to be the active app to receive a VOIP call, but there are workarounds to that. The bottom line is still the bottom line: very good quality and virtually cost-free calling. Interfacing with the app is seamless and Toktumi continues to improve it. A small learning curve to the web interface to all the settings and trying to understand what some of them do. I have a few questions, but like I said, I'm saving $300 a month talking to my family while I travel. Let me check that -- at 70 cents a minute roaming, a 1-hr chat with the kids & wife is ... $42 a day. Yeah, Line2 is doing it's job.
Amazing, unnoticeable

I used this line for business calls they didn't even notice it was a second line. I get the calls to my cell love it love!! A must have! And it's only 14.95 amonth. Wow!
Update makes this service even better
Katnbirdie 5.0 stars Version: 2.4
Even with the monthly service fee, I'm saving a ton of money on my AT&T bill. The app is always open in the background allowing for all of my calls to come in via 3g or wifi which is free via this service - more importantly I'm now able to get calls at home where I do not get AT&T service. The soft app also allows me to take and make calls via my computer which has been helpful for my 3 hour conference calls - again all for free. I know I sound like a lunatic - once you sign up for the service you'll be raving about it too. I, too, was skeptical but with the 30 day free trial, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Happy Calling.
Great app but $15 monthly no good !!!
NOexpert-2010 4.0 stars Version: 2.2
In Wifi and 3G mode work great but the monthly fee if $14.99 is a bad number. The magic number is $9.99 monthly and that should put everyone motivated !!
Doesn't deliver as promised
skibum moldonado 1.0 stars Version: 2.2
Poor quality phone calls. Calls often went over cellular network even though I specificed "VOIP only". I tried to contact Customer Support but all emails went unanswered after several weeks. I let my free subscription lapse rather than pay $15/mo for lousy phone calls and terrible customer service.
Needs PUSH and SMS

This app rocks!!! It does everything it says it does, and the call quality is well worth the $15/mo. I trust this app with very important business calls. Add these two features and the app is 5-star worthy hands down. Sept. 24th update: this app really is awesome!!! With iOS 4, my first concern is now moot, and with the recent SMS update, my second concern is now also moot. Only one problem: with recent update, the app freezes and crashes when you access the forwarding feature within the settings. PLEASE FIX this minor big. Thanks.
THE Best Option for iPhone VOIP...and I
TedBater 5.0 stars Version: 3.0.1
If you are looking for the single best VOIP option for your iPhone, then this is it. And now, Line2 is the ONLY VOIP service in the App Store to offer the ability to send SMS. Ever since buying my 2G iPhone on launch day, I’ve loathed the AT&T service where I work and have longed for a VOIP solution. When the VOIP apps started popping up on the App store, I began my quest for the perfect VOIP solution and this is it. Believe me, I’ve tried them all because I’ve had to try them all. I rely on VOIP to communicate everyday at work. I work in a building with absolutely zero AT&T coverage but WiFi everywhere. Line2 offers me the definitive solution for making calls when I'm at work. In a perfect world, iOS4 and Line2 would bring me the ability to answer calls anywhere at anytime...however in practice, this doesn't always work as some calls just won't come through. I believe that this is because the building where I work is blanketed in multiple access points causing the iPhone to constantly be switching between them. The fault is with the iPhone's ability to negotiate its transition between points rather than with Line2. But with that said, I still receive the vast majority of calls…the only calls that won’t come through are usually when I am in an elevator or walking (indoors) between buildings. But even that’s okay because I can setup my service on the website to forward those calls to my office! However, for being able to stop in one location, ensure I have a WiFi signal, and make a call--it's more than fantastic. Call quality of Line2 is second to none. It's at least as good as my cell coverage and 10000x better than any other iPhone solution--especially the free ones like Skype. I've made blinded calls to my wife from work asking her which service I sound better on; the choice is always clear, Line2 blows away the others. And it's not just in the call clarity, but it cuts and pops out MUCH less than the competition…actually, it never pops and only cuts out if my iPhone drops the WiFi signal and I have no cell service. Toktumi has now added the ability to send SMS with their latest update. This. Is. Huge. To my knowledge, this is the only VOIP solution on the App store that allows you to send SMS, and it has enormous implications for power users like myself. This now means that I can safely and reliably give out my Line2 number to my business contacts, family, friends, whoever and know that no matter where I am or what kinda crappy AT&T coverage I have, they can contact me through SMS or voice. I plan to continue to thoroughly test this over the coming weeks and fully expect to be ordering new business cards with my Line2 number instead of my current business cell. Combine SMS/Voice and the extremely robust options you have through the Toktumi website for call forwarding, blocking, conferencing, etc, etc and you have the ultimate solution for mobile professionals or really anyone who’s fed up with poor AT&T service. Previously, my biggest complaint was the lack of SMS, but they’ve fixed that. And I’m now getting hard pressed to find the cons. I guess that my biggest complaint at this point would be the fact that if your phone is locked with a passcode and you receive a call, then you have to enter your passcode before you can answer. I know that this is a security measure put in place by Apple and not Toktumi, but it needs to be fixed on Steve’s end. I would also love to see the option to send/receive MMS in a future update. In the end, this IS the definitive solution for VOIP on the iPhone. Yes, it costs. But you get what you pay for in life and in the App Stote—actually, in this case, you get more than what you pay for with Line2. This is a premium service with premium features at a price that pays for itself in a month. If you have bad AT&T coverage, if you want to save on minutes, if you want extensive control over call settings and features, then Line2 is unquestionably the solution. There’s a free 30 day trial, so you’ve got nothing to lose.
toktumi the best
