Really useful, accurate translations
forehead 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
My wife is a native Cantonese speaker, and this is by far the best Cantonese audio-phrase book available for the iPhone. They use the same colloquial phrasing that a native speaker would use, their pronunciations were very good. There are a wide variety of phrases covering emergencies, shopping, transportation, lodging, greetings, and more. I did a spot test of 20-30 phrases and had her guess what was being said. The only failures were where there was not enough conversational context to distinguish between two words that sounded very similar. It was also very nice that they include the written Chinese so you can let them read it (e.g., due to noise, or to disambiguate words that sound very similar).
What about dim sum?
Moonieromance 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
This little app is fine and dandy, but what about DIM SUM translations? One cannot visit Hong Kong without knowing his dim sum! USELESS! Lonely Planet needs to update with a DIM SUM category, stat!
Great! But bad audio.

Could you guys please just improve the audio quality? This could easily be a great app if the audio was better. Your free Mandarin version has better audio quality than this one.
ehh

basic phrasebook organized by catagory; nothing special. audio is too fast to pick up well. not worth 10 bucks to me.
Best Cantonese app in the Store!
skabadelic 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Audio is louder, but not exactly more clear. The audio was improved, and there is a good response to customer feedback. I'd love to see both this and the Mandarin app expanded with more vocab. Maybe something less traveler oriented. Keep up the good work!
Meh....
Missneek 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
I expected a lot more content. I am upset about the fact that I just handed over $10 for only a few useful phrases. Maybe I am asking for too much, but I sure do not feel happy with this purchase. Overall, I liked the concept of this app but I am very upset at the price - not worth $10! Maybe $5?
Good

Good app, with earphones sound good. but how about some ROMANTIC TRANSLATION. Like: I love you, i miss you, honey, you smell good. Etc. Please. It will help me. Thank you
AHHH! you can hear it!!!!
joshintosh 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
It's impossible to hear. I'm so angry! I vaguely hear a guy whisper something when I'm in a quite room and I hold the speaker up to my ear. And yes, I checked the volume on the phone. What the #&$! are you thinking???!!! that's the whole point of this application. 10 dollars wasted. I even saw a review saying you increased the sound volume? what was it like before? I am so angry. I can't believe Apple approved this app. This is the most I've spent on an app, and now I've lost all faith in Apples ability to screen these apps.
Needs glossary search, but good!
Xibee 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
Every program like this could always be bigger, but I sure could use more basics, like colors, container words, etc. However I am pleased with the pronunciation of the recordings--they might seem quick to some, but are accurate enough. The problem I see is that the transliteration of the syllable sounds you see in alphabet characters is not necessarily what I have heard or used in normal conversation. Sometimes it's right on and sometimes not (a bit too pronounced and formal); so I advise users to take what you hear over what you see in english print. And PLEASE, creators, I want to search by glossary for a word, and then see my phrase options! A bit expensive, but the other apps are not as good as this.
