I'm an Italian and I speak it fluently. I purchased this cause I thought it'd be cool for my phone to speak all of the phrases that I have in my actual Lonely Planet Phrase book, of which is really good! So i purchased this app, for like almost $10, and I'm not happy with it at all! I'm really upset that the speaker that they got to say the words prounces the words with "z" wrong and the quality of the voice is unclear. I have purchased in the past an app that was FREE and it spoke italian and the voice was of a friendly and expersionate female voice that was CLEAR and has CORRECT PRONOUNCIATION. Honestly speaking, if you DO NOT speak italian and are looking for this to help you in learning it, DO NOT BUT IT!! There are FREE and BETTER Italian speaking apps on the App store that are more woth having! I really hope that there will be an update to this that will bascially make it better cause this one that I bought like not even 5 minutes ago is terrible. I'm NOT saying that the phrases are not grammatically correct or that there isn't a good amount and diversity of phrases becuase that's NOT the case, there are deffinetly A LOT of PHRASES and the gramar is CORRECT. Its basic and nothing spectacular..buy it if you like but I don't reccomend it. 3 stars at most and I feel the actual book from Lonely Planet is better. I also bought it becuase it used to be around $14 so i thought this was a better deal but its less money for worse I presume. Good luck! :)

It's verry cool but is expensive and it don't have a lot of sentences!!!

I installed the update, but the sound is still barely audible. Perhaps the update didn't install correctly? There is no indication which version number is running.

I have to say I am disappointed. I expect a Lonely Planet production to be good. For one, the speaker's voice is not clear and he speaks too fast. For a person trying to learn a new language, the speed needs to be slower than regular conversational speed. I wish there is a setting that let you choose slow or normal speed. And please fix the quality of the sound.

This really does look like it was adapted for the iPhone,unlike lingolooks app for 4.99. Hide and reveal makes it suitable for quizzing yourself. Recordings are a bit faint, though--turn up the volume!

This is a handy phrase book. It covers survival Italian. This won't teach you Italian but is a great suppliment to any beginers education. The sounds seems fine to me. Although you do have to turn it up while it is playing which can be tricky. Overall, nice app.
