I love Lonely Planet guidebooks, but compared to other Talking Language Phrasebook apps I got for FREE from right here at the App Store, the sound quality on this program was really LACKING. Plus, at a $9.99 price point, I expected much much more than what I got from the free apps (duh!)

The content is decent- you can get a sense of what phrases are available by examining the free Mandarin book.

I've used a lot of Lonely Planet guidebooks so I expected a product of similar high quality in this audio phrasebook, but it is a mess. Low sound levels and scratching sounds are the biggest problems. Makes you wonder whether anyone at the company listened to this before they offered it on iTunes. Really embarrassing. The LP should contact all of us who bought it to offer refunds or at least a cleaned-up version.

Lack of single word translation.

Learning Japanese is really fun. I hope others will share this experience with me.

I have to admit i like this app but i wish it was free. they offered the mandrian one for free so i think they should offer all of them for free. on top of that other companies have offered free ones and they are great apps. i am ticked off that they are now offering this product for $6.99 after i paid the $9.99. But all in all and the bottom line, i like the product, i have their previous phrasebook in paperback and have referred to it many times, but i do think this can be improved and all their products offered for free. they have plenty of other stuff on their site to sell to make up for it.

I highly recommend this app for those travelers looking to surprise some natives. This app is really useful for business and vacationers.

a bit overpriced because it has relatively few phrases. Organization could be helped to show the (romanized) Japanese and English together - more often I just wanted to see the word, not actually here the pronunciation.

Especially compared to the book- there is a lot that can't be constructed.
