This application is by far the best social networking application on the iphone... I have tried all of them now. Sign up and Set up was easy, inviting friends was easy... everthing works! A solid "A" in my book!

This is a very useful service! There is nothing cooler than being able to see what your friends are up to. And the app on the iPhone is definately better than anyother mobile platform that loopt has out. It's great to see which friends are near you and awesome that you can switch who can see you in about 3secs. The implementation of yelp reviews for places of business is great too. No more bad resaurants or bad service:-) I wish I could work for them! Do you guys have any sales positions?? Great work! The future is all about LBS trust me I've been in the mobile telecommunications industry for 5 years!
This app is great!

Awesome!! 5 Stars
Very impresive, can only get better
I must say this app has a lot of potential that will become unlocked as more people become connected and the 3G iphone GPS features become available. I can't wait till my friendslist is filled up.
Awesome!

Should get better over time, not a bad program at all. I tried others but this seems to be the best.

Loopt is the best social-spatial app I've seen so far. It updates your position and is a fun way to track your friends. I've had a few bugs where it couldn't locate but then I found it was an iPhone internal error.. As far as SMS goes it does send you them though you can turn them off at will. It's quite cool
Loopt...
Love it! Down side is I don't know many people with a smart phone!
Great App - Dont listen to the negative reviews!
First of all let me say that this is an amazing application that, given time, will really grow to be something unbelivably fun and cool.
For the record - this app does NOT run on SMS and it does NOT use SMS to locate you and it does NOT [insert ignorant comment about SMS]. What it DOES do is chose to send you various alerts via SMS by default; all of these alerts can easily be switched off with a tap of the finger by going to your settings. All of the reviews giving this wonderful app 1 star because of this misconception should be deleted.
Now that that's out of the way let me share my thoughts on the app. It's definitely one of the best of it's kind - the location function works flawlessly even over edge on a 1g phone. It has a built in feature that allows you to search through your contacts and see if anyone on there is already using loopt, which I thought was very cool. Throw in the built in locations by Yelp (restaurants and what not), built in integration with Twitter and Facebook, and you've got yourself quite the social application.
As others have mentioned, however, it isn't quite perfect. Although a small problem one thing I don't like is that you need to open loopt and have it relocate you anytime you go somewhere. Because of this the location of your friends may not always be accurate if they have forgotten to open loopt when they went somewhere else. A small problem, to be sure, but a problem nevertheless. Hopefully the guys at loopt can deliver on a solution with future updates.
omgg
cant wait til it loads up w iphone users
Great
Awesome app. Much better than others like it.
Uses SMS, make it too expensive, rip off.

Why use SMS it makes it expensive and slow by needing to send SMS.
If they make a option of SMS or Internet then it would be a cool app.
cool app
Probably one of the coolest apps...this is an awesome way to network with friends through iPhone. i love it
Loopt FTW

This thing doesn't even let you invite friends. Everytine I click on it it sends me back to home screen. Basically it's just a map
Fun for a full 3 minutes.

I registered for Loopt on their web site a few days ago, so when I downloaded this app, I tried to use my existing details. No dice. Nothing worked.
Then I tried to register - after taking me all the way through the process, I was asked to click a link in an SMS which took me to their web site where I had to enter my password again then I was told to click another link which took me back to sign in for the app, then it crashed.
This whole process clearly needs to be improve
This is a great app! Also, it does NOT use SMS for data.

True, it uses an SMS or two to verify your identity, but after that you can disable all SMS messages. (They're used when people ping you, want to friend you, or to let you know you have a new comment.) All data goes over WiFi or the cellular network.
Very cool app

Love being able to post my status and location to Twitter! Works great even on a non-3G iPhone!

Cool program, however your friend who are on other services have to pay a small fee. You might also get your wireless number out there so third party partners can send you SMS messages. If you download this be sure to have unlimited SMS plan as that is how it tracks you on NOT your GPS...
Great app! Now I can update twitter while seeing where friends are!

Don't know what people are talking about, haven't received any SMS spam at all - you can go into the settings page and turn off all SMS notifications and then you don't need to worry about it ever again, unless you want to get a txt whenever a friend invites you (I know I don't, especially since AT&T charges $5 for 200 msgs now).
On the fence
Great interface, nice and clean and easy to use. 2 problems
