Happy Thanksgiving – Here Are a TON of Games on Sale
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Nov 2010 11:04:08 UTC +00:00
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been all my life. What's there not to love about an entire day revolving around eating massive amounts of turkey, stuffing, and all the other fixings? Sure, I could do without needing to feign interest in football, but thankfully tryptophan overload usually allows me to sleep through all of that. If you're looking for something to do this year while you do your best to either pretend to be interested in football or anxiously wait for the food to be done, there are a ton of sales on the App Store to consider. The basis of this post comes from SirAwesome's awesome thread in our new price drops, freebies, and deals forum. He put together an extremely exhaustive listing of everything that's on sale, and the thread is good to stop by just to make sure you're not missing anything that might Read More

If you’re a fan of receiving free candy or for cleaning off an absurd amount of toilet paper off your front lawn, then you’ll know that Halloween is nearly upon us. Most people celebrate Halloween by paying money to go to places for the sole purpose of possibly getting frightened, walking with their children to complete strangers homes in order to get a treat, or keeping all of their lights off in order to avoid wave after wave of trick-or-treaters. If the last example sounds like your kind of Halloween, then why not take advantage of the big Halloween sales a number of iOS game publishers are offering for this weekend only? Playing on your iDevice of choice would certainly keep strangers from knowing you’re home, so give it a try! Calendar16 Sun, 05 Sep 2010 17:53:17 UTC +00:00
It's Labor Day Weekend in the U.S. and most every retail sector in the land is offering major product sales -- and the App Store is no exception. So, without further ado, the following games are available for a reduced price through this three-day, holiday weekend. Namco Sky Burger, Free (down from $1.99) NimbleBit's Sky Burger is a fun exercise in burger stacking that's seen a great deal of success since it recently went free; presently it's sitting at #6 free title in the App Store. Now's the time to grab it. Glu Mobile Robot Unicorn Attack, $0.99 (down from $2.99) If there's any game in the App Store that is double rainbow all the way, it is without question Adult Swim's Robot Unicorn Attack. It's got unicorns!! I Dig It HD, $6.99 (down from $9.99) InMotion Software's I Dig It HD is an iPad take on the iPhone original that Read More
On the heels of Glu Mobile’s Independence Day promotion, we have another publisher joining the party – Namco, which just recently celebrated Pac-Man’s 30th birthday. However, unlike Glu, Namco hasn’t made most of its titles available for 99 cents — it decided to slash prices just a bit, yet enough to make the games more attractive to consumers. Here’s what they got: iPhone: Android (all games are $2.99): If you find something of interest – act now! The sale ends today — unfortunately, we’ve missed Namco’s original announcement. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also Read More

In celebration of this holiday weekend, several game companies are hoping that you'll load up on some new games while loading up on burgers and hot dogs. Four of the biggest iPhone developers have discounted a selection of their games for this event, and a few other random sales are occurring as well. There's bound to be something on this massive list that piques your interest, so in between lighting off tiny explosives in the name of freedom and stuffing your face with barbecued treats make sure you hit up these sales before they're gone. Holidays on the App Store mean big savings for customers. Developers including Glu, Gameloft, and Namco are putting oodles of apps on sale, with many as low as $0.99. Grab 'em while you can! We Americans celebrate July 4th as Independence Day. Usually it involves fireworks, glow-sticks, barbecues, and patriotic parades. But quite a few developers have decided to celebrate in yet another way—by putting their apps on sale. Yay, cheap apps! Yay, developers selling lots of apps! Yay, fireworks! So far we’ve got sales from EA Games, Glu, Gameloft, and Namco, as well as a few bonus apps. Hit the break for a full listing of on-sale apps and games. Namco Namco is the developer behind lots of games, not just the Pac-man titles, and they’d like us all to remember that with this crazy sale. Many games are $0.99; others are still significantly cheaper than their already-low App Store Read More

Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Thursday, June 3, 2010 Category: iPod, iPhone, and iPad Gems: Apps, Games + More Welcome to this week’s gaming edition of iPhone Gems! Each of the four titles we’re looking at today is designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch, rather than the iPad, though they all run on the iPad in 1X or 2X emulation mode. They span several different genres ranging from driving to action and puzzles, sometimes mixing multiple genres together, and for the first time in a while, none of the games merited a B+ or higher recommendation. One was such a mess that we didn’t even want to waste the time necessary to fully review it. Our top pick of the week is the B-rated puzzle game The Package. Read on for all the details. One thing that’s becoming increasingly popular in the realm of match 3 games is to have a split screen, where one half of the screen is matching and the other half is something happening as a result of the matching. Sometimes the non-matching side is interactive, sometimes it’s not. Either way it adds a fresh spin to a fun but increasingly oversaturated genre. One of the latest efforts to rise to the occasion is Lt. Fly Rise of the Arachnids, and it’s quite an effort indeed. The first level starts off a bit slow, but when it takes off (level 2) it really takes off, and joyous mayhem ensues. Match 3 fans looking for something a little different won’t be disappointed. You play the part of the titular character, Lt. Fly. It is your mission to rid your realm of a horde of invading spiders. The game takes place in your Read More

Fun but...

Fun puzzle game with a unique theme and funny graphics, but there is just too much going on sometimes and the instructions are pretty vague. Don't let casual looking interface fool you - only hardcore need apply
Insane Puzzle game!!
Talfin 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Nice Mechanics, great originality. I really like the incorporation of gestures to this genre. There are some cool boss battles. It's like Bejeweled Freaked out. Great Game!
Cool Concept! Even better gameplay!

Didn't know what I was getting into, but it turned out to be the best 1.99 I've spent on the App Store. Great Game with cool graphics. Fuses puzzles with firepower!
Fun puzzle/shooter

I like the game it adds an interesting new mechanic to the standard matching game.
Not exactly the original
Etansel 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I first played the flash version before I played this one. I do like the achievements and new power-ups, but the game itself was kinda confusing to use at first. There was little to no direction on how to play the game, and a lot of guess work involved. The updated graphics to the original look great though, and ammo is a little more pleantiful this time around.
Super Combo
WhiteKnight1 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Cool idea. While not normally a huge fan of puzzlers (I don't even like Bejeweled - yes, I know that may make you stop reading my review), I dig this one cause it combines the puzzle with a fun action shooter. And not in a minigame format, but all on the same screen simultaneously; don't think it's too much multi-tasking though. I love animals and all, but who doesn't enjoy killing spiders?!
Wow!
luisdzl 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I'm not a big fan for puzzles, but I decided to buy this one because I like how it looks. Well, I have to recognize I've had big FUN with this puzzler, having to shoot down those spiders while matching the tokens just make it more fun! I can get easily bored, but I've found myself playing this one for long periods of time without noticing it! (except when my battery runs low!! LOL). I believe this is a game that can fit very well for people who likes puzzles(making it more enjoyable by adding a little action) and for people who like shooting action (making it more gratifying by adding a little thinking through). The graphics are really cool and the weapons are really fun to use. I bought the war chest expansion at the store and I'm having a blast frying down those spiders with my new weapons!!!. REALLY FUN!!!!
