Men like hitting stuff. At least, the “manly-men” of the world do, according to EA. The studio has kicked off its own Fathers’ Day celebration on the App Store, slashing prices for several of its action and sports-oriented titles. Big names like FIFA 11 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Madden 11 have been reduced to pennies, while others are receiving generous discounts. Dead Space, for example, is now just $3. Overall, there’s over a dozen EA-published games available at 85-percent off the normal rate. We’re not sure how much longer the “Many-Man sale” -- no joke -- will last, so it’s probably wise to grab any of these while they’re on the cheap. If you’re interested in more deals, know that EA isn’t the only publisher hacking at its standard prices -- Gameloft and Firemint have their own going on right now.   #5   Today, 04:45 PM Junior Member Read More
EA wields an incredible amount of power on the App Store. Their game catalog is incredibly vast, and consists of tons of well known IP that even non-gamers are familiar with. When they pulled a similar stunt this holiday season, EA absolutely dominated the top sales list which was great for gamers who scored absolutely insane deals, but bad for other developers who had their Christmas dreams decimated by EA controlling the majority of the App Store top 100. We'll see what happens this time around with this similarly massive sale- This is definitely a great time to fill in your collection if you're missing any of these EA titles. It's hard to really provide any real recommendations here since so many of these games are so good. If you don't have Dead Space yet, I'd really download that. Same with NBA Jam. Also, it's hard to really say which is Read More

The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More
For those of you running Madden NFL 11 for iPad, an update you’ve no doubt been waiting for has arrived. That’s right, the ‘Vintage Voltage Football’ mode has been added to the app, and quite honestly, it’s a little bit of awesome. When in the new game mode (which is an iPad exclusive by the way), the players on the field look like figurines (see screenshot above). It’s meant to remind you and play like those old electric football games. You know the ones, right? Well if you had one, and want to experience the same thing with a 2010 technological twist, you may want to grab the update. The other notable enhancement in the update is new head-to-head gameplay. The new feature allows you to compete locally with your buddies via WiFi or Bluetooth. With the NFL season really starting to heat up, the timing of the update couldn’t be Read More
EA recently made good on their promise made all the way back in July and finally implemented the iPad-exclusive "Vintage Voltage Football" mode in Madden NFL 11 for iPad [$12.99]. This new mode supplements the existing awesome football gameplay and all the cool new features (like Game Flow) that we loved in our review. The Vintage Voltage Football mode uses the existing football player models which stand in one position and look like figurines. The amount of effort that has gone in to this new game mode is incredibly apparent, as even the interface is dripping with retro charm. In addition, Madden NFL 11 for iPad also had local multiplayer modes added. Now, two people with iPads and the game can play via either Bluetooth or WiFi. Even though this update did take quite a while to land, it's still cool to see EA releasing substantial updates to their games. Download Read More
Happy Thanksgiving – Here Are a TON of Games on Sale
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Nov 2010 11:04:08 UTC +00:00
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been all my life. What's there not to love about an entire day revolving around eating massive amounts of turkey, stuffing, and all the other fixings? Sure, I could do without needing to feign interest in football, but thankfully tryptophan overload usually allows me to sleep through all of that. If you're looking for something to do this year while you do your best to either pretend to be interested in football or anxiously wait for the food to be done, there are a ton of sales on the App Store to consider. The basis of this post comes from SirAwesome's awesome thread in our new price drops, freebies, and deals forum. He put together an extremely exhaustive listing of everything that's on sale, and the thread is good to stop by just to make sure you're not missing anything that might Read More

I rarely take photos with my phone because I am a lousy enough photographer with a real camera. The various app markets brim with software to help people like me. But I recently stumbled onto something far more useful: apps that take your lousy shots and help you turn them into something ridiculous, bizarre or maybe even beautiful. The short list includes, for Apple users, ToonPaint ($2), SketchMee ($3 for iPhones, $5 for iPads), Unicorn Shots ($1) and Color Splash ($2). For Android are free apps like PicSay and Pic Paint. On BlackBerry, Picture Magic ($5), Doodle ($1) and PhotoColor ($3) are worth a look. As is almost always the case, there are more, and better, apps in this category for iPhone users than for those with Android or BlackBerry devices. For people who are contemplating their next phone, the broader issue here may be worth quickly noting. IPhone app developers Read More
Review: Electronic Arts Madden NFL 11

For iPod touch/iPhoneFor iPad Company: Electronic Arts Price: $8-$13 Compatible: iPad, iPhone (EDGE/3G/3GS/4), iPod touch Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Wednesday, August 11, 2010 Category: Games - iPad, iPhone + iPod When we covered last week's release of NFL 2011 by Gameloft, we decided to hold off on reaching any final conclusions or issuing a rating until Electronic Arts published Madden NFL 11 -- the 800-pound gorilla of American football video games. Now that both companies have their games in the App Store, we're reviewing them together here, though you can save yourself the read with one sentence: Madden's better, particularly on the iPhone 4, but more expensive. Read on for the details. Backstory Last year’s release of Madden NFL 10 took place a month after Gameloft debuted NFL 2010, its effort to stake an early claim to iPhone and iPod touch football fans. Madden 2011 released into App Store for iPhone and iPad
Calendar16 Tue, 10 Aug 2010 22:21:21 UTC +00:00
By Jeremy Sikora, Tuesday, Aug 10, 2010 | Football season is fast approaching and why not prepare for the upcoming season by checking out the newly released Madden 2011 for not only the iPhone but on the iPad as well. The iPhone version will run you $7.99 while the iPad version is a bit steeper at $12.99. Yes, these two are pricier than we’d like to see but this is EA’s cream of the crop and has been for many years so it was to be expected. If you are not in a hurry to pick these up, simply wait a few weeks and it’s very possible you will soon see the prices come down. The game itself contains some pretty great graphics for a portable device but also has some killer features carried over from the console versions as well. TDC (“Total Defensive Control”) makes playing defense pure fun. Press Read More
Review: Madden NFL 11 for iPhone & iPad
Calendar16 Tue, 10 Aug 2010 22:44:21 UTC +00:00
When it comes to footaball games, it’s undeniable that EA’s Madden NFL series is the best. Madden NFL has always bridged authenticity with fun and engaging gameplay and that’s why so many sports game fans have always flocked to the Madden series. That’s also why we had to get a hands-on look at Madden NFL 11 for ourselves. Madden NFL 11 was not only released across all major consoles today, but EA Mobile also released the iPhone & iPad version of the game simultaneously. Does the iPhone & iPad version of the game live up to the console version? Let’s find out. Madden NFL 11 allows you to play as one of 32 official NFL teams and features around 2,000 real players. One of the first things you’ll notice on either platform is how amazing the graphics are, especially on the ’s Retina Display. The stadiums, players, and even the field Read More
Madden 2011 out for iPad and iPhone
Calendar16 Tue, 10 Aug 2010 22:00:00 UTC +00:00
This year has just flown by -- it's almost that time again, when the leaves start to change color, the kids head back to school, and footballs fill the air. That also means the new Madden is now out, and for the first time, EA has brought the game to the iPad. By all accounts, it's pretty good -- the graphics are not quite comparable to the console versions, but they look nice, and you also get the ability to draw out hot routes and use an adapted version of the GameFlow feature from the console versions. Plus, the iPad version is also getting multiplayer soon, as well as a "Vintage Voltage Football" mode, a Madden-style homage to the old electric football games. The only drawback is that the game's not cheap -- EA is going all out with a price for the iPad of $12.99. The game's also available for Read More
The Madden series hardly needs an introduction, as football player turned coach turned commentator John Madden has had his name on football games for the better part of 20 years now. On home consoles, it has become tradition for EA to release a new Madden game each year with updated rosters, a few new features, and other various tweaks. As of tonight, the second yearly installment of the Madden series has arrived for the iPhone. Last year we took a close look at Madden NFL 10 and thought it was a really great football game for the iPhone. Madden '10 came loaded with all the licensed players, stadiums, logos, and everything else you'd expect of a Madden game along with game modes ranging from single exhibition games to full seasons. The two hip new features of Madden NFL 10 for the iPhone were hot routes allowing players to draw on the Read More

Excellent gameplay! How can you go wrong with Madden.
Fantastic
Bruno Milanello 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Anyone can say that console games are better than mobile version of any game. It is time to review that statement. Madden NFL 11 for iPad brings console quality graphics and a much better gameplay. Being able to interact (touch) and draw hot routes for your offense is one of the unique features that only a touchy device can offer. There is no such a comparable experience on the iPad to date. Remember that you are paying much less for a console-like game. Stop reading right now, go play!!

Just happened to check, hoping this was released as the console versions were. Midnight App store release, sweet. About to play first game. Go Hogs!
Good effort
RetireFarve 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Played a couple games and is the best Madden you can take with you. Few bugs to work out in the updates and not having multiplayer at launch is a little disappointing. Crowd noise and Madden's very few and repetitive calls are awful. Overall good effort for iPad.
Best iPad sports game I own
PaulCaspar 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I'm not sure a football game can get more playable, something Madden on the console systems sometimes struggled with. Awesome use of 13 bucks!
Best portable version of Madden Football yet!
Rey G 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Being a longtime Madden player (Sega Genesis) I was skeptical of the game translating well to a touch interface. This just works. Unique gameplay, custom hand-drawn routes, great UI, and quality gameplay make this the portable Madden to beat. Good job EA!
Xbox? What's That?!
ariom2010 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Wow! Best $13.00 I have ever spent on a video game! Absolutely amazing! Download this immediately! Multiplayer is coming soon also? This game is so close to console quality it's scary! Way to go EA!
Best football game on iPhone or iPad
Pitbull1980 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This game looks, plays, and sounds awesome. A must buy if you own an iPad. I bought it for my iPhone 4 and iPad and it unbelievable. Thank you EA for stepping up and doing a side by side launch with the console version. Do this more often with your console releases and you will def be the top app developer in the app store. On a side note I also have NFL 11 by gameloft and their collision detection blows maddens out of the water. The tackles in this game look very rough and unrealistic. Gameloft's NFL 11 really got down the collision detection and player movement. This is a superior game in every way but the tackling which looks downright aweful. BUT, Do yourself a favor if your a football fan get this game now! There is nothing even close football wise for the iPad to this game.
