No iPhone? As I said in MMAHQ last week, I am in Sugar Land, TX for the month of November, living it up with the townies. For those of you who don’t know, Sugar Land is the anchor suburb of the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metro area, and was rated by CNN/Money as the third best city in the United States. You would think that in a well to do suburb with a ton of kids, you would see an insane number of iPhones. I live in Phoenix most of the year, and everyone I know there has an iPhone (maybe because they all work or worked at various Apple Stores…). Not seeing someone with an iPhone is almost confusing to me. I mean, how in the world would I communicate with people without it. Some people claim that using the phone feature is the answer, but their 20th century thought process is as Read More
Math Flash Cards - Test Those Math Skills!
Calendar16 Fri, 01 May 2009 16:54:05 UTC +00:00
Math Flash Cards by One Moxie Ventures LLC is an app that throws you back to your early elementary school days when you use to use those really big math flash cards that had the answer on the back and you use to peak to make yourself feel smart, especially on the multiplication ones. Come on…you know you did! Now, this app can get a little stressful the more you play. The stress comes in because the series of cards you are doing is timed. And if you’re like me, you want to get done as fast as possible. Why? Because you want to go to recess! Duh! It also will show you the percentage of cards you have gotten right. The fastest time and score is stored to motivate you to get better. This app allows you to also select the type of cards (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division) and number Read More

Great Product
skasper 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
Having three young children this product is great.. It is amazing how the game on the phone has become an educational tool. I like the flexibility of the product and the ability to taylor it to each child's skill level.
Very adaptable for age and ability
rustyBrower 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
The easy to set options allow me to make it simple enough for my 4 year old but challenging enough for my 10 year old! I plan to make my kids do a set of flash cards before playing any games. Suggestion: adding fun sound effects might make it seem more like a game.
Great app for kids and parents... keep the enhancements coming
eduparent 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
This is a 'have to have' app for any parent who has kids learning and refining addition, subtraction, multiplication or division (pretty much the foundation of all math). Any time one of my kids can kept quiet and learning at the same time is a big plus in my house. Anything one your iphone and it automatically gains their attention, make it valuable, and it's even a bigger plus. Lots of good options, only key request right now is to allow the parent or child the ability to set how many problems to test at a time.
Best program of its kind. Best support from developer I've ever seen.
bibiasmom 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I highly recommend this product for parents who want their kids to really learn, not just guess at an answer or have the answer triggered by clues (that's what's wrong with multiple choice). I was looking for something to help my kids practice their Kumon math facts that didn't involve me toting around their worksheets, which never seem to be on hand when we have a few minutes to practice (like in the doctor's waiting room, in line at the store, etc.) however all the other programs use multiple choice answers. I asked the developer if they could make multiple choice an option and they did it! They got back to me right away and within a few days, put up a new version. They're wonderful. This program will give my kids a better grasp of math problems than any of the other programs out there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Fantastic Application
douglasland 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
Our 6 year old needed just this application. It is fast and clear. He enjoys trying to best his time. The app flawlessly allows parents to manage difficulty. Our son is mastering 0-11 addition facts. All we did was make the top number 6-0 and the bottom 5-0. His last attempt was 90% correct in 5:47. This tool will continue to be with us as we hit the remaining math milestones.
Great for testing math skills
CostelloDad 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
Just downloaded the upgrades. They are fantastic and thank you to the developers for responding so quickly to suggestions. Still on my wish list: - allow mixing of types of test. For example allow users to take a test with both addition and subtraction. - allow number of cards in a test to be set. This way if there are 256 cards available and the test is set to 50, the person gets a random test that holds their attention. First post: Great app. My only suggestions for future upgrades are: - allow setting of number of questions per test. 256 questions are way too many for a first grader. - keep track of progress. For example, 10 of 10 correct. - allow test to mix two or more functions. For example, both addition and subtraction. -allow larger numbers - keys are easy for children to fat finger. Can something be done to help prevent fat fingering? - pause a little after an incorrect answer so they have a chance to learn from their mistakes. I look forward to seeing more updates.
Great app...Kids love it...Not a flashy game... A real educational tool
momsruletheroost 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I've had this app on my iPhone for a couple of months. Using it daily, I must say that I have seen dramatic improvement in both of my kids (8 and 10) rote recall of math. The side advantage has been increased confidence and overall adeptness in other elementary math skills (fractions, percentage, rounding) which foundate on rote math memorization and fast recall.
Decent start, with a few bugs...
egadgetboy 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Decent start to a reasonable app, clean interface for young fingers. Shuffle feature doesn't work though, making this program somewhat disappointing because the answer to the next question is alway one number higher/lower than the previous one. Also, you can't mix addition and subtraction questions into the same test - you have to stick to one or the other at a time. "Practice" option seems to crash the app almost every time. Wait for an update that incorporates all of these things before you consider making a purchase...
Almost perfect
Mikeilasdad 4.0 stars Version: 2.0
This is an excellent app. I concur with some of the others in that there may still be some room for improvement. Foremost, I think the number button colors should be configurable. Black text on a red button would probably be my last choice for readabilty. My daughter also accidentally backed out a number of times... "are you sure you're finished?" would also be a welcome revision. Thanks for a good product.
Best Educational App Ever!
Stephanie Berry 5.0 stars Version: 2.1.1
My son has become the #1 Math wiz in his class thanks to this app! With this app my son feels as though he's playing a game and homework is no longer a chore. WIN/WIN!! Buying this app is a MUST! Thanks to the developers for such an amazing product!!!!!!'n

Simplistic and Inadequate
Excellent update!
momsruletheroost 5.0 stars Version: 2.1.1
We have been using the update for several days. Great new look and the ability to limit the number of cards per quiz makes this already excellent app even better. We use it all the time in the car. Keep up the good work.
Convenient
Jr Rios 5.0 stars Version: 2.1.1
Technology, you've got to love it!
Awesome app!
Scott Suhy 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
I'm a dad with a little boy and this is one of the greatest apps i've downloaded. My son and I use it all the time and it's really helping him in school.
easy to use, kids seem to enjoy it
wisher54 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
Very well done. App is solid and kids are liking it. Not a game like some others. Just simple flash cards. Old school, tried and true technique to memorize the buggers.
nice features, clean UI, fun for the kids
wisher54 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
Very well done. App is solid and kids are using it. Old school, tried and true technique to memorize the buggers.
Simply the best of the flash cards apps
atm675 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
This apps continues to improve. We have been using it since 1.0. It is rock solid. I had a moment to look at two negative reviews and they are factually incorrect. Both keyboard and multiple choice are in the configuration screen (just turn off multiple choice and the quiz will use a number keyboard) and editing and deleting of quizes is simple and works just like every other iPhone app. You swipe left or right on the quiz in the list to delete and tap the blue circle on the row to edit. Simple.
Poor usability, buggy
czgarrett 1.0 stars Version: 2.2
The description mentions a keypad, but I saw no settings for this anywhere. It only had multiple choice, which is meaningless for answering math questions. You can add new card decks, but there is no way to edit existing ones or remove any. I wouldn't like this app even if it were free. I'm sorry I paid $1.99 for it.
Simply the best of the flash cards apps
atm675 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
It's great there are so many flash card apps for iPhone. Keeps you developers on your toes!
replaces paper flash cards
wisher54 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
Very well executed program. Good job.
Great math app!
momedy 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
Best one we've found. Highly recommended. The fact that you can use a keypad instead of just multiple choice is key. It is helping my kids hone their math skills this summer. I love all the flexibility with the settings. For future, three and four digit numbers would also be great for adding and subtracting. Thanks!
Awesome considering...
Eirebard 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
Considering this app was created by an 11 yr old and his 9 yr old brother I'm pretty sure this is the best $.99 I've ever spent! My son loves to play it when we have time to kill and is really learning his math facts. BTW - to change from multiple choice to keyboard you simply turn "off" the multiple choice button. :)
Great support and kids like the app
ShebaTheDog 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
Thanks for your quick response! My kids have been fighting over this app. Not sure how long that will last, but it sure is fun to see!
This app is really neat!!!!!!
KS 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
This app really is fun to use. It helps me to refine my math skills. Thanks for this app!
Good but needs wider range
sebsmom 3.0 stars Version: 2.3
I like this app. My son is happy to do it for about 5 minutes at a time, after that it is a little too boring. However, I wish it went all the way up to 20. My son is great with 1-10, but needs to work on 10-20 facts. On the plus side, it gives him the chance to try out multiplication in a non-threatening environment. (He's just starting 3rd grade; multiplication not introduced yet).
From F's to A's with this App
Cospringer 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
My son struggles with math facts in school, and needs daily practice to help him keep up with his class. We have been using this app EVERY DAY for 5 months now, and his math facts grades have gone from F's to A's! The program is great because he can be going through these flashcards and getting direct feedback on his performance, and I can be making dinner instead of sitting with him during this time. A time saver for all.
My kids love this app
Acumom 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
My children (ages 7 & 11) look forward to their math study time with this app. Definitly worth $0.99!
Nice
Martin__Jeff 4.0 stars Version: 2.3
Nice app and a good price.
Get it
HotInTheDesert 4.0 stars Version: 2.3
Yep, it's worth a buck. My fourth grader hates math review (and man he needs it) but he loves to play with my iPhone. So this worked for us!
Very nice app.
JohnK68 4.0 stars Version: 2.3
I am pleased with this app and a great price. A couple of things I would like to see: 1. Wider range, at least 20 or 25. 2. Separate the deck configuration from deck selection to play. It is a little confusing for kids since there is an arrow and I don't want it to be quite so easy for them to change the configs I set up for them. 3. Ability to mix operators for a set.
Awesome
Math Tutor 323 5.0 stars Version: 2.3
This beats paying money and time on writing up flashcards. Great options so that you can work with the numbers you want. Gonna be using this with my students tutor sessions
