If you’ve been keeping tabs on Capcom’s mobile offerings, you’ll know they haven’t released many Mega Man titles. The only Mega Man game that has made it to the App Store was Mega Man II, and it was a ho-hum offering at best. Now, Capcom has released another Mega Man title onto the iOS platform, and this time, it’s arguably one of the greatest Mega Man titles for the 16-bit era, Mega Man X. Mega Man X for iPhone stars X, who happens to be the final creation of Dr. Light, as he fights a number of reploid robots to stop Sigma from destroying the human race. The game features graphics that have been optimized for the Retina Display, includes difficulty options, online rankings, and more. You’ll also be able to play the game in its regular format or full screen mode and you’ll also be able to activate a number Read More

Capcom, Namco, Sega Announce Big 99 Cent Game Sales
Calendar16 Thu, 10 Feb 2011 17:10:19 UTC +00:00
Posted 02/10/2011 at 9:10am | by Andrew Groen There's officially no good reason to pay more than 99 cents for any game on the App Store this month. We always thought Valentine's Day was the kind of holiday that specialized more in cheap pink teddy bears than smartphone software, but apparently we were wrong. The past couple of weeks have been positively flooded with huge iOS video game sales from major publishers, and now Sega, Capcom, and Namco are getting in on the action. Some of their very best games are included so check out the full list. Listen up, fellas and ladies, sure you could go to the shop this Valentine's Day and get your special someone a ho-hum set of bad flowers and some fluffy pink polyester that will be sure to make them feel completely average. Or you could surprise them with an onslaught of totally awesome games Read More

Five For Friday: Week of September 24, 2010
Calendar16 Fri, 24 Sep 2010 17:04:53 UTC +00:00
By Chris Nitz on September 24th, 2010 Big sales and big patches rule the week, with your latest dose of recent apps and games that you may have overlooked. Dark Void Zero:Dark Void on the consoles may have bombed on the review charts, but the iPhone version is an utterly different story. 8-bit visuals, achievements, online leaderboards, and so much more make this side scrolling shooter a highly addictive game. Capcom, being the devilishly nice company they are, is even feeling a bit generous and letting you get it for a lousy $0.99 this weekend. $2.99 iPhone App - Designed for the iPhone, compatible with the iPad Released: 2010-04-12 :: Category: Games Mega Man II:The Blue Bomber is back and better than ever. Enjoy the original NES game without having to do any funny stuff with ROMs and emulators. Enjoy all 14 levels and 8 bosses in this side scrolling shooter. Read More

Select Capcom Titles Drop to 99¢ Through the Weekend
Calendar16 Thu, 23 Sep 2010 13:00:59 UTC +00:00
Yesterday, developer Capcom announced that  they are having a 99¢ blowout sale on eight of their App Store titles. My personal picks of the bunch are Resident Evil 4 which is a scaled down version of the console title that still retains much of the same content and gameplay, and Dark Void Zero which is an 8-bit "demake" of the console title Dark Void and completely nails the feeling of playing an old NES game (right down to blowing in the cartridge when starting it up). Check over the list, and if there's something on there you've been waiting to pick up now would be a great time to do so. Cash Cab, - $4.99 → 99¢ The sale is set to last through the coming weekend, so make sure to grab any titles you want before they return to their original prices. Select Gameloft and Capcom Titles On Sale for 99¢
Calendar16 Wed, 21 Jul 2010 12:00:49 UTC +00:00
UPDATE: Since this article was written, Capcom has added some excellent titles to their sale in celebration of Comic-Con.  We've added those games to the list, and added Gameloft's Fishing Kings which dropped to 99¢ a few days ago. Gameloft and Capcom have recently dropped some of their games down to 99¢, and while some of these titles have been on sale before, there's a couple of great deals to be had out of the bunch. Gameloft titles on sale: Capcom titles on sale: My personal pick on the Gameloft side is Modern Combat: Sandstorm, which is a very good Call of Duty-like FPS with online multiplayer. On the Capcom side I recommend Dark Void Zero, which is an 8-bit “demake” of the console game Dark Void. It really nails the look and feel of the classic NES games, and even has you blowing into the mic of your iPhone to Read More

Popular iPhone And iPod Touch Games On Sale This Weekend
Calendar16 Fri, 04 Sep 2009 22:43:45 UTC +00:00
This weekend’s sales include tons of big name titles, including the elusive Real Racing, Resident Evil 4, and even the popular Civilization Revolution, so let’s jump right in. Real Racing ($9.99 -> $6.99): One of the best racing games to ever hit the App Store.  Real Racing features great graphics, intelligent AI, 48 cars, 12 tracks, local multiplayer for up to six players, and stellar controls.  This is the first time Firemint has ever placed it on sale, so don’t miss out. Yahtzee Adventures ($2.99 -> $1.99): The classic game of Yahtzee, but modified for the iPhone.  It features four different game modes, touch and accelerometer-based controls, and four-player multiplayer via pass and play. Trivial Pursuit ($4.99 -> $2.99): EA seems to be the king of porting board games to the iPhone, and this one is no exception.  The game features thousands of new trivia questions, touch-based controls, four-player multiplayer via Read More
Vintage Gaming: Mega Man II for the iPhone
Calendar16 Mon, 03 Aug 2009 16:24:38 UTC +00:00
I’ve been meaning to tell you all about this for some time now… Not sure what has held me up, but here we go. This one is for all of the vintage gamers packing an iPhone. If you remember and LOVE the Mega Man series, the developers at Capcom released a gem of a game for the iPhone and iPod Touch last month. Mega Man II is the title I’m talking about, and while not much hoopla or foo-farulla was made of it, the game has quickly become one of my favorites. All of the classic ‘bosses’ are found inside, as well as classic controls. You can switch classic controls off for easier controls, fewer enemies and an auto-fire option. Makes the game a little easier to play, for sure. You can also choose to play the game in portrait or landscape, whichever orientation works best for you. While reviews of Read More

If you ask someone for a list of the best platformers of the 8-bit era, or really, best platformers of all time, Mega Man II [App Store] will undoubtedly be on that list somewhere and likely near the top. Mega Man II had it all-- Highly refined controls, an excellent difficulty curve, and a significant improvement on the then-revolutionary system seen in the first Mega Man that allowed players to harness the abilities of bosses. The original release of the Mega Man II port for the iPhone was plagued with controls that made the game nearly unplayable. Also instead of porting the original NES game, Capcom ported the version that had been retuned for cell phones, making the game significantly easier. After hearing the cries of countless disappointed gamers, Capcom revisited Mega Man II and released the significant 1.5 update. The first improvement made is the inclusion of "Classic Mode". Capcom: More iPhone Titles on the Way
Calendar16 Fri, 22 May 2009 21:30:48 UTC +00:00
As Reuters reports, Capcom Cheif Financial Officer Kazuhiko Abe indicated, during a speech at the Reuters Global Technology Summit in Tokyo, that the game maker plans to launch more than 10 iPhone game titles between now and March of next year. Abe spoke of Capcom's current success in the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 space with 4.4 million sales of Resident Evil 5, released just this past March.  The company forecasts a 6% rise in operating profit in the year to March 2010. Capcom recently released the iPhone action horror title Resident Evil: Degeneration [App Store] and, in March, brought NES classic Mega Man 2 [App Store] to the platform.   The company has an impressive list of games in its arsenal -- 1942, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Street Fighter, Bionic Commando, and Devil May Cry to name a few -- any of which would be welcome additions to the App Store library. This is MegaMan 2 in Music & Name ONLY!
beldandy561 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I am an avid MegaMan nut. I have played and bested every megaman title that has been released on any platform(except for MegaMan & Bass, SNES/GBA) Yes even the 2 on the WonderSwan! (wiki it if you don't know what a Wonderswan is).
Game Over
Profeta Cinque 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
The graphics look very nice but the controls pretty much ruin the experience. I love Mega Man but wish I could get my money back.
A Classic Turned into a Train Wreck
SuperMega 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
As an avid MegaMan fan, I was one of the first out there to discover this app. After spending a good amount of time with the port to IPhone, I must say I am disappointed in the lack of effort Capcom has put in this game. Seriously Capcom, why? For those who are curious, here is a basic rundown:
What Hurts the Most is the Potential
Thryllus 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Not much to say. The game looks great, but feels tiny in its "window" that isn't even half the screen. I agree with the other reviews that wish for a landscape version so the game will appear bigger.
Looks terrible
PowerLlama 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Why wouldn't Capcom make the screen go all the way to the edges? Why did they put the joystick so far into the middle? And they took out half of flashman's stage! I guess they thought it would be too hard even though you have total air control. I am disappointed.
Nostalgia only goes so far
The Russtastic 5 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The game is the game, as you remember...except for the controls are way more difficult. While I appreciate the frame made to look like the arcade machine, it really sacrifices screen space that could be used to see the game, you know, because your playing it on a phone...
Classic game comes to iPhone
doragreyguitar 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great game from my childhood comes to my phone in it's entirety. Was concerned that amazing sound track wasn't included but if you go to options and turn SOUND ON, shazam. Best sound track ever. 5 stars. Would rate again. Here from x-play we give it a...THREE out of five....
Great memories
CommanderEpic 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Controls for joystick were a bit awkward, but high jumps and quick running made up for it. Great work Capcom!
Great
Dale Bosarge 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I don't understand everybody's problem with the controls. I have played every iteration of this game since it came out, and this feels the same. I say get it.
Fun, but lots of stuff to work on.
CARemey 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
First off there should be some type of landscape mode. Holding the phone upright can be annoying. Maybe you can have it with the joystick on the left and the two buttons on the right? And a large pause button would make things a lot easier. Or forget about the pause button, maybe you could take out the Mega Man header on top and replace it with an easy to navigate power-up switcher?
Great game, great music!
ZenZeroHero 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this game from back in the NES days and the soundtrack is CLASSIC!
Needs alot of work!!!!!!
Johnny Starq 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I bought this despite all of the negative reviews. I thought "It can't be that bad." The controls need alot of work. I find myself going the wrong direction and falling from cliffs, or taking damage that could have been avoided. Landscape mode would help. I hope capcom fixes the issuses with this game. It could be fun to have more classic games on ipod/ iPhone. If Konami is reading maybe Castlevania, but only if the controls get perfected. So for now avoid this until it gets updated.
It's good
Capcom fan 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The controller is a little bit hard to use, screen can't tilt for widescreen could prefer megaman 6.
No sound = not worth the money
Jbanks97 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I really hope there's an update coming in the very near future. Megaman 2 without it's soundtrack is not what I paid 5 bucks for
Not bad for V1.0
Addoru2021 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Excellent. Would get a 5 if they add landscape mode and fix the bugs on the contols
Awsome!!
Vampsonic 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love the game! My only complaints r that the controls r too close andif he ran at a normal speed
Weak controls
Meanasjed 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I wish you could use the controls in landscape. Very uncomfortable to play the way it is currently setup.
Hell ya
anthonthgr8 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I miss how simple things used to be. I want more old NES games on my iPhone! Sweet.
Good port
blaine00 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
People are being way too hard on this game. First of all, there is sound and music, you just have to turn it on it the options menu. Second, the controls work fine. Believe it or not, Capcon were not able to make a NES controller pop out of your iphone. It is a touch screen people. Within about 10 minutes, I had gotton used to the controls and had beat 2 stages. Most of the elements of the game have been faithfully ported over. You will find the same sound fx and music but it seems to have been converted to sound files because music does start and stop at strange times. Also, the physics are way different. There seems to be less gravity in the game because everything, including Megaman, falls much slower. Of course, once you get used to this, this makes the game easier. Graphics are nearly the same as the NES version... which means they are terrible if you rate them according to iphone standards... but fans will love them. The only differences I have noticed is the lack of grapical artifacts such as flickering. This is a good thing, but purists might miss them. People new to the series will be happy to see an easy mode that does make the game MUCH easier. This is also nice for people to practice with while they adjust to the controls. I too would like to see a landscape option, but I'll live if they don't add one. I recommend this to any Megaman fans thay are forgiving to physics changes and are willing to spend a little time adjust to the touch screen controls.
Awesome!
Mcawesome1865 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
So fun! I don't get what everyones problem is. This game is awesome! I just beat it and I have to say it's the best app for the iphone
Awesome!!!
Stvnjdfjirfno 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I Love mega man and this app gives you the chance to play Mega man 2 anywhere you want.
Needs some work still...
Dr. Unk 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is not as bad as people say it is. It would be nice if it filled the screen and it would be nice if the controls were spaced out a bit. I think people forget what controls were like on nintendo back in the day. It's still Mega Man and it's still fun once you get used to it.
Perfect
TheBigZee 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great port!!
Better than walking around with a NES.
I luvs my phone 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I guess I’m not a Mega Man purest, cause I’m OK with the changes. I do think widescreen is a missed opportunity, and the controls do take some getting used to. It does scream for an update, but at the end of the day it’s still fun to play.
Overall, A Good Port
CraigAA 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I was skeptical going into Mega Man 2 based on the reviews about the control issues. After playing though it on normal difficulty, I don't understand all the negative feedback.. Occasionally, the controls being so close together get in the way. I'll jump when I want to shoot and vice versa. However, 90% of the time, the controls work well. Dying was usually caused by an error made by me, not the controls. I can see how people with large thumbs will have issues. While it is not perfect, the game is fun and works well on the iPhone. An update allowing for landscape mode would be appreciated so the buttons are a bit further apart, but aside from that, Mega Man 2 great game to kill time with.
Awsome
$_AARON_$ 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
First there is sound second the controls r good i mean the controls arnt going to pop out of the screen last $5 isnt a lot if ur a true megaman fan i nean come on the whole game for 5 bucks dont think just buy
Not a good port
DixonUranus 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I must have played through Mega Man 2 at least a hundred times on the NES. This really is a disappointing port. I love the original, but the joystick and buttons are too close together and often times you will either hit the wrong button or both at the same time. The jump is floaty and the game does run a little faster then it should. Capcom, you should issue a refund for this one.
Capcom, Please Read!!!
elementaljohn 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
good game I geuss. never played the original but Ive played battle network and star force megamans, as well as megaman maverick hunter x. I know there's a megaman x game with similar graphics to this app's. please make magaman x for iPod touch or even better, megaman maverick hunter x. please understand that we have plenty of space on our iPods. also, we're willing to wait. but really, the iPod touch has a screen size similar to the psp's. at least make megaman x for the iPod touch.
Physics way off
Wedge603 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Controls are a bit difficult to get used to, but my main problem is that megaman seems to jump higher and slower than in the original. The game is way too easy because of it.
sooo dope

Great game!

I will admit the controls were a rough to master, but now I can play very easily. Congrats to capcom for making the first leap into taking old games and making them on iPod. Could you possibly make Megaman 1 and 3-9 on iPod too?
Mega man
bryce_zombie 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is great and once you get the hang of it the controls feel natural
Well...
Darkroku21000 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I do like the game and all those bad reviews means the people got big hands lol but all in all i like the controls and good size and the music is A+ like seriously i beat the game already
A great start!
jmsmith2434 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Yes, the modern controls take a lot of getting used to. Yes there are some slight differences from the original game (some of which I personally consider improvements). It even saves your progress for you so you don't have to remember a passcode! Bottom line, this game is freaking awesome to have on your ipod. Totally worth the price. I mean, you can play Mega Man WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT!!!! Don't let the negative reviews sway you. If you're a Mega Man fan, this belongs on your ipod. Period. Thanks Capcom!!

I think the reason why people find it hard to control is because there screen is dirty. This is just a theory though. P.S. Great App!!!!

This is a great app. The controls are easy. The miss conception on the controls is that you don't have to tap and slide the joystick to move. Just simply tap a little to the left, right, up and down of the joystick to move Megaman. Just think of it as a NES thumbpad vice a joystick. The games sound is off by default, all you need to do it turn it on. The screen should be made bigger, but it's still viewable. Hope to see more Capcom games on the iPhone!
Great Mega man Fix

ok it's a great classic game but it needs sound and I agree with others when I say as well this game should have a horizantal option sense the buttons are so close together and add a option to make the screen bigger please and this would be a perfect game while ur on the road
Great but...

It's classic Megaman, and for the iPhone too, so it's difficult to not be satisfied with it. But there are certain parts where the inconsistent controls/physics interfere with the gameplay of those that enjoy the classic on the NES. Some areas that were originally very easy are extremely difficult because of the cramped controls and the very different jumping physics. Likewise, some originally difficult areas are now far too easy. Nonetheless, the game is still enjoyable. So unless you want to play a 100% perfect copy of the game, it's worth getting. But I do hope the developers work towards making it more like the original.
Dissapointed

Very dissapointed with the physics in the version. For me, the way Megaman jumps is the biggest problem. Next, the joystick graphic feels awkward. Compared to the "other" emulated NES version, feels unplayable.

Hard to play. Buttons could have been placed better. Make the view horizon in stead of vertical. Place attack and jump on the right side. And D pad on the left. ( would have been better ) Second to last stage funny bug. Run by DR. W space ship and u will go to a new level... Happened once tried once. Lots of fun!!!! Do more!!!! Work on buttons????

As I am able to play the original thru the NES emulator app and compare the two versions, i would say that this update is spot on. The music seems a little choppy here and there but its alright. Those of u who think he jumps slow obviously havent played the original. Before the update he jumped like a helium filled baloon. Thanks capcom for the great fix!
It's great A+
