Being a recent Pocket PC transplant and complete iPhone convert, I have been appalled by the lack of voice recognition support in the iPhone (to say nothing of a *cough* real camera). I've tried the other voice dialers and quickly removed them - they're just not viable products (compared to the Pocket PC voice dialer). Today I was pleasantly surprised by the Melodis Voice Dialer. It works!

First off let me start by saying I rarely write reviews, but when I do they are for products that deserve my time. Congrates to the developers for making such a good application.

I have voice dial in my car but my other car does not. This is better then the built in one. I even tried it out in the noisy street and it was correct every time. And it is fast.

I've used a number of the voice dialers available on iTunes and this one is far superior to all the others (Say WHO is probably second best). I have yet to get a wrong number with any request and that's unprecedented. Most of the voice dialers are so far off my family and I have sat around the living room laughing at some of the names that come up on the screen. The only problem with this one is that we'll now need to find a new form of family entertainment. I am moving this app to my home page. It's that good.

This app is super d duper effective, accurate, and just overall on point. I've never written a review for an app before, however I love this app enough to make a suggestion to the developers, Add an option for auto-close. After the call I don't need to go back to the app. I now have to manually close the app. It would be nice of there was an automatic close switch. It would have to be a switch or toggle or something because I just might to make another phone call. All-in-all very stable, must have application. Thanks again to the developers for making this wonderful app FREE! Oh YEEEAAAHHHH!!!

I find this voice dialer to be the best one I've used so far. It does a great job of recognizing the names and errs on the side of being conservative if it's not completely sure of who I meant to call. The only real beef I have is the load time which can sometimes be an inconvient several seconds. Still, even with that, I use it throughout the day, every day and rarely fall back to the built-in iPhone dialer.

This makes it possible to make one-handed phone calls on the iPhone. The best part about this app is you can say anything, and you don't have to commit to a dial. Say "Lisa" while touching the screen and it will show you all the Lisas in your contact list with all numbers. If Lisa has three numbers "call Lisa mobile" will bring up her cell phone and dial it automatically. When a list comes up, the numbers and contacts are big thumb-able buttons. Much quicker than tweezing through Apple's virtual rolodex; very handy if you are walking the dog or holding your child. It also uses just enough subtle audio feedback to let you know when the button has been touched, and if the search found something or not.

This is my very first app review. I've tried a couple other voice dialers and were very disappointed by the lack of accuracy and the time it take to process the voice data before a result was displayed. I am highly impressed with this app's speed and accuracy and would recommend it highly. It is also worth noting that spellings of foreign names were also recognized properly. This truly addresses a sore omission in the phone's featureset.

I downloaded some other popular voice dialers and was a bit disappointed at the length of time it took to come up with the names. This app, which loads about as quickly as others, was quite surprising. Even almost whispering, it produced exact results in a matter of seconds. What I like most about it is that I can call, text, email or just view contact details with this program. An unbelievable free app!!!

Works well, but please add the suggested motion sensing so simply holding the phone to your ear will activate the voice-dialing capability. Also, inclusion of a voice "end call" command, or similar, to hang up would add a nice convenience. These additions would eliminate the need to touch anything once the app is launched.

Love this app! I tested over 20 different times and only had one that didn't return the results I expected. I tried that test again and enunciated a bit better and it found the correct result. It's quick, and very useful. This app just found a coveted spot on my dock.

I've tried the other voice dialers, and they pale in comparison. Anyone that has used the Google Mobile App with voice search knows how awesome that technology is. If Google wanted to make their voice recognition better, they'd license the technology from this App. It's unbelievably accurate. I have over 1300 contacts, and in my own testing, it's 99% accurate, including auto dialing a specific contact's number (mobile or office) when I tell it to. I also have 7 pages of Apps, and this is going on Page 1 in place of my Contacts App. I'll never type to search for a contact again. Thank you Melodis!

Best voice dialer I've tried

I am in sales have over 2,000 contacts. IPhone 3G. This app is well thought out and works. Voice recognition works for me. None are 100% but this is very close. I like the way it will dial for you. I suggest scrubbing your data. If a contact has more than one like phone number then the software can't dial automatically since it need operator intervention to select the number. So make sure your data is true. I use this every day all day.

This one actually works, and has made my transition to hands free driving much easier. Most of the things people have complained about (having to tap and hold, using with bluetooth) are impossible for melodis to fix because Apple doesn't allow it. It's perfect and free.

Gotta Love when an ap works. NO PROGRAMING - I downloaded it it picked up my contacts and worked. End of Story - That Easy!

Voice dialing is a huge omission on the iPhone. I have tried all that I have found and used none! This app is the best there is. Interface is great, clean, big buttons. It works as well finding numbers in a jiffy as my old Pocket PC voice dialer from MS (wasn't that 40 bucks!?).

I installed 5 different dialers to see which one was the best. By far, this is the best one I found. It understands everything and even finds weird names. The only negative I see in it is that it takes about 5 seconds from the time I hit the icon to when I can speak into it. Every other dialer I've tried does this too though, so can't really take off points for that.

Like others I have had a great experience with this app. I was using say who before but this app is mucccchhhh better.

I've been using this app for the better part of a week now, and I've been very impressed with it's performance. It brings up your contacts quickly and easily. I'm even considering switching it out with the phone button on the springboard! The only thing that I'd like to see implemented in the future would be a way for the app to recognize contacts by their nickname as well.

I've tried several diff voice dialers, which were just 'ok.' this one is BY FAR the best one. Very accurate, easy, customizeable... I like being able to just say a name to get info but it's great to just say "call _____" great job! Thanks! Now if only an app comes out that is voice to text for txt msging & emailing... :-)

This is everything a voice dialing app for the iPhone should be. It's intuitive, responsive, and completely easy to use. Will be keeping this for a long time!

Having tried several voice dialing apps including Cactus and Say Who, I have found nirvana in this app. This is by far the most intuitive voice diaper bar none. 5 Big Stars

I have paid for voice apps and downloaded free ones. Nothing! Compares to this one! Nothing! Fast! Accurate! Perfect! You guys need to charge for this! Please don' change a thing! Love it! I have tried all of the other free voice dialers and was excited to see this one hit the app store being from the creators of Midomi and have been amazed with it's accuracy. this one is simple well beyond the others in accuracy. I have a LOT of friends with uncommon surnames, and so far this app has recognized them all. due to privacy reasons, I won't list their names, but I was simply shocked it recognized all of them where other voice dialers have failed on multiple attempts. this is even more accurate than the systems built into other phones I've used like the blackberry. it's fast, accurate, and the user interface is very clean, east to use, and handsome unlike some of the other apps. the customizable delay between search and calling is especially nice to cancel calls before dialing in case the app gets it wrong, but ive gone through my whole phone book without a single error, and thus have set it to a 1 second delay. its just that good. this is my new voice dialing solution. if u need one too, don't bother with the others and get this while it's free. and if it does go up in price, don't hesitate and get it. you won't regret it. by far one of the few solid gems in the app store.

First Midomi and now this! I am simply amazed at how accurate this app picks up my unusual dialect easily as well as unusually spelled names in my contact list. I hope they continue to update this app as quickly and as often as they did with Midomi to integrate number dial. Another winner from Melodis!

Quick and accurate. It's able to handle non-english names without any problem (it's done 20 of 21 in my test, and it only missed the one where my contact info didn't contain the nickname I used). This is good enough that I want a hardware switch to enable it! (Maybe a quadruple click of the earbuds or a double tap on the lock key?) Phenomenal app!!
