Mint states that they don't store your bank password. That is right. They instead give your password to yodley. And what yodley does is encrypt your password with an encryption key and store the encrypted password as well as the key in their database. It is important to note that the key has to be stored somewhere on the system since it will be needed to periodically decrypt your bank password in order to pull fresh data from your bank. Unfortunately, What this means is that a database administrator or anyone with suitable access can first read the key and then use that to decrypt your bank password. You know the rest of the story... Thank you mint... I initially thought that you were using federated identity management to avoid storing my bank passwords in any sytem. But I was wrong. I am closing my mint account.

By downloading this you are "giving up your right to have a trial by Jury" as well as many other rights to your own money. You also give Power of Attorney to Mint.com. Great interface for budgeting but you are setting yourself up for identity theft with no recourse to retrieve your money through legal dispute.

... or is anyone else out there not entirely uncomfortable giving a third party website all my bank account info and passwords? There are plenty other apps out there where I can track my expenses without giving up my sensitive info. I'd steer away from this personally.

I don't want to put a pin on my phone just to keep people out of one app. Other than that the functionality is awesome!

What I love: (1) Amazingly simple UI. (2) Nearly as much info available as on their *FREE* regular web browser version. (3) Can monitor budgets / spending, cash assets vs. o/s expenses, invetments, credit card / online bill pay / ATM transaction detail. (4) Can see what types of expenses eat up the most of your money (e.g. shopping, movies, etc.) or which merchants you spend the most money at (e.g. Target, NetFlix, etc.). It's basically the full "readable" version of Mint's web version in your iPhone! I only have a few requests as they improve this app in the future: (1) Add graphs / pie charts to show comparative spending breakdown similar to the "Trends" tab online. Just a relatively simple version would work -- no need for anything fancy. It'd be a nice piece of info to see. Could have an option to see 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or All. (2) Would be nice to edit budgets directly from the iPhone. (3) Would be nice to edit transaction details from the phone. I'm sure I'll habe more suggestions going forward, but that's all I've had time to think about at this point (...I've only really used the app for about 5 min at this point). But, I will say that this app will be a mainstay on my first iPhone page from this point forward. Goodbye, Pageonce... Once again, Mint has simplified my life by offering unmatchable personal money management software! I'd say only 4 stars because there can still be some improvements made, but overall, it's currently the best available -- by far -- and it's one of the best first version app attempts I've seen to date! I find the review about it not being secure interesting. Both systems, either via Federated Identity Management or Yodlee, require the storage of user information and the Hash Key. In fact, if you go to the Yodlee and look at their customers, there are quite a few Multi-billion dollar businesses using them (MSN, Etrade, ScottTrade, T-Rowe Price, Fidelity, Capital One, etc.). The security measures in question are how do these types of companies handle internal security. Short of using RSA type security services (e.g. synchronized 6-digit psuedo randomly generated fobbles), then anyone with the proper security clearance can gain access, but would they have access to complete the necessary fruad.

Wow...easy to set up an account online and to have such a beautiful interface right on your phone to stay updated everywhere you go is just amazing. Very nicely put together great job!!

I logged in and it quickly downloaded my information. It is also secure, prompting at login and logout. Mint definitely came through with this

The website is excellent and this app is a great way to check up on how you're doing this month. Especially for bad spenders like me. :) But the data is sensitive. Much, much more sensitive than anything else on my phone! So while I understand their suggestion that I passcode-lock my entire phone, that's wasteful of my time because I only use this once a day or so. And logging out every use is a hassle too, because I would have to type my full login info when I run the app. Instead, i'd like a setting that remembers my username but not my password. That way when I run the app it can ask for my password only, and I would also have the opportunity to login as a different user. It should not show me my username though as that is also sensitive. And when I quit the app or sleep my phone, it doesn't logout, but I do have to enter my password to get at my data again. That would earn 5 stars from me. I'm a big fan of using Mint's web app to track my financial accounts, and I've long been quietly hoping they'd make a native app for my iPhone. So for me, this was definitely a welcome arrival to the App Store. If a few more features are added in a future update, it'll get 5 Stars from me, but I still give it a respectable 4 Stars in its current incarnation.

Mint let's me track my checking, credit card, and investment balances while on the go. It's great when out shopping or figuring out if I can afford to buy dinner for friends - just hit the "refresh" button and I see my real time balances accross all my accounts. I think they support something like 8,000 banks. Awesome!

First, I have to say that Mint.com is a great website. It's a good way to manage your finances but apply some automation to it to keep it simple. I think they took a similarly simple approach when making this app; it downloads the overviews, transactions, and alerts from the main site but nothing more than that - and that's a good thing. Its easy for such a powerful website to overload you with features that, on the iPhone, would be cumbersome to manage. Its clear they focused on developing a good app that gives you the information you need without adding unneeded complexities.

I've been using Mint for the past few months and found it to be extremely useful in tracking my spending habits. I love the SMS alerts too - it helps me pay bills on time, and keep tabs on fraudulent activity.

I haven't written any reviews yet but this one deserved some attention. Simple version of the great online application. Check it out if you care about your finances!

Nice interface, good for the basics. Can't wait till you can tag transactions. 5 stars for a beta effort. There's a lot of built up goodwill in 2 of those stars! :-)

Although it seems like a really great program there are a couple of things people should be aware of. 1). Many people, myself included, have complained that the program does not give accurate, "current" balance results. You are better off logging into your bank account or calling your bank if you really want or need to know your balance to avoid overdrafts or whatever. YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS. 2). Reporting a problem takes you to a forum where you can see many other people complaining of and asking for an update, response to or assistance to the same problem....hello? Anybody out there reading these? Bottom line....until it can update your true balance save yourself the time and frustration. As for me? I give it 1 star for now. If my balance isn't accurate the program is worthless.

I've been trying to add my bank account for two weeks, to no avail. It is listed in Mint's directory, but my bank recently updated their Web site and their login URL has changed. Mint has the old login URL. After three emails over two weeks trying to inform Mint of this problem I have received NO RESPONSE other than the automated response indicating the receipt of my email.

I love this app. I was searching the app store last week looking for an app that would integrate with mint.com and couldn't find anything. Now, here is an app from Mint that shows you all your transactions, balances, budgets, investment balances and more, and like Mint.com, it is free. I am very pleased with this app and think that you will be too. It is an absolute must for all mint.com users!

Add manual transactions with transaction matching and it'll steal the show... I need a "real balance" / pending and future transactions...

Once again the Mint.com team rulez. Now I can keep track of my expenses and account data from anywhere!!

I've been using this app for about 6 or 7 months now and have always enjoyed it, especially after the last large update. However, the new update includes the property and stuff you've added, which is great. Unfortunately they add this up to the total amount of money you have across all acounts, which really doesn't make any sense. So now I could easily spend too much on my credit cards ad still think I have enough money to pay for it. There should be a separate total including the property you've added, or at the very least a setting to disable it. Great app otherwise :-)

Changed my rating from 2 to 4 stars as the update does increase the speed of updates. Mint also listens to feedback and makes improvements based on it. Keep up the good work!

Works on the iPad ok, but was obviously made for the iPhone not the iPad. Needs an iPad version that actually fits the whole screen, has better resolution, and utilizes the larger screen for more information. Other than that, the app is great.

Data is fine, but very slow to update on both iPhone and web site.
