The latest Apple iPad ad has appeared, and although slightly sappy in places, is a far better effort than their previous hit and miss efforts.  The advert implies the iPad will integrate itself in our lives to the extent where it’ll replace everything from a pen-and-paper to the TV. While starting any sentence with ‘we’ll always’ just makes me want to finish it with ‘have Paris’, the ad’s title tells watchers that they’ll carry on doing the same things, but with the iPad.  For example, it uses the phrase ‘We’ll always cook dinner and cheer for our favorite team’, and finishes with ‘But how we do all this will never be the same’. It’s a very strong message, and makes the iPad desirable, futuristic and for the first time in ages in an Apple ad, useful too.  It’s also great to see ‘real world’ use rather than boring specification talk!  There Read More

12 Apps for Following Baseball on Your iOS Device
Calendar16 Thu, 14 Jul 2011 17:13:58 UTC +00:00
Posted 07/14/2011 at 9:13am | by J Keirn-Swanson We're rounding the midseason right about now with a crushing defeat of the American League at the hands of the National League at this year's All Star Game. What's that? You didn't realize you could follow and play baseball games on your iOS devices? Well, get yourself some peanuts and cracker jack and a heaping helping of apps to get your game on. 1 of 12 MLB At BatIf you really need your baseball fix, this is the king daddy of them all. Our advice, though, is buy it and buy it now, but choose wisely between iPhone & iPad versions. Otherwise, you're gonna drop $9.99 for each version with MLB's highlights, scores, and Game Day audio feeds. Get it today, too, because after midnight tonight, the price goes up. Hit the Deck BaseballSimple and addictive, Hit the Deck Baseball is like those Read More
If you're a baseball fanatic, the MLB At Bat app is a must-have. It's packed with live updates, scores, stats, news, and videos -- and right now there's another great reason to pick up At Bat. Pony up for At Bat and you'll get to enjoy MLB.tv free for the entire month of April. The service streams games in HD to just about any connected device you can imagine, from iPhone to PS3, and even Roku boxes and LG Internet-ready televisions. The basic subscription will set you back $99 for the season, and a Premium sub is an extra $20 (and adds DVR functionality, multi-game PIP, and more). MLB At Bat is available for Android and iOS and both apps run to $14.99 US. Read More
MLB offers free MLB.tv trial during April for buying app
Calendar16 Sun, 03 Apr 2011 15:00:00 UTC +00:00
Baseball season started this week, and things are already off to a rip-roaring start, with the Yankees in first place. My Cubs are, well, losing as I write this (Dempster's grand slam on Friday didn't help my fantasy baseball team, either). We've already reported that the terrific MLB apps for iPhone and iPad have been updated this year, but now Major League Baseball is offering an even better deal: buying either of the apps for iPhone or iPad (or Android, if you happen to have that kind of phone) gets you a free MLB.tv trial through the month of April courtesy of automotive sponsor Volvo. I like the MLB.tv service. I didn't go for it this year (at least, not yet), but I subscribed last year and really enjoyed watching my Cubs games out of market here in Los Angeles, as well as pulling up all of the HD game videos Read More

AirFrame: It enables AirPlay video and photo streaming between iOS devices, so you can stream media from your iPhone to iPad or iPad to iPhone or iPad to friend's iPad and so on and so on. Basically, whatever works with AirPlay to AppleTV should work perfectly to another iOS device. $2 Contract Killer: It's such a simple game: you're a sniper and you get Grand Theft Auto type assignments where you're ordered to kill bad guys. There's 17 story missions and unlimited random missions where you can shoot off 20 different guns. I'm having a lot of fun trying to get the perfect headshot as fast as I can. Best part is it's free. Memefy: I don't think I could say it any better than Adrian did about Memefy on the iPad: 1. DOWNLOAD MEMEFY ON IPAD 2. PICK MEME TEMPLATE 3. ALTERNATELY, UPLOAD YOUR OWN PHOTO 4. MLB App Hits One Out of the Park With One-Month Free Trial
Calendar16 Thu, 31 Mar 2011 16:50:21 UTC +00:00
Thursday is opening day for the Major League Baseball season, and a new update for the MLB.com At Bat app has arrived just in time. The update brings a number of new features, including the ability to watch all out-of-market games live on your device free during the month of April. Live game video streaming is usually only available if, in addition to purchasing the app, you also have MLB.TV subscription access (which you can also now access on your Apple TV, by the way). For April, Volvo is sponsoring a free trial of live streaming for all MLB.com app owners (iPad and iPhone versions). It’s sure to be a hit with those who’ve yet to decide whether or not they want to sign up for a full MLB.TV subscription, but it might also alienate some who decided to take the plunge early and pay full price ahead of this feature Read More
In case you didn't know, the 2011 edition of the Great American Pastime starts Thursday the 31st. I'll be watching MLB.tv on my AppleTV -- and my iPhone and my iPad. Baseball everywhere! Awesome. MLB's television broadcast rules black out home team games via MLBtv, unfortunately, so I can't watch my local team, but that's OK. I'll watch whatever game looks interesting at the moment. MLB At Bat 11 apps for iPhone, iPad now available
Calendar16 Fri, 25 Feb 2011 22:30:00 UTC +00:00
With the wintry weather that seems to be hitting a lot of the U.S. today, most people probably aren't thinking about the start of the 2011 Major League Baseball season. There are two sure signs of spring today -- the MLB players started playing Spring Training exhibition games today, and the MLB At Bat 11 apps for iPhone/iPod touch and iPad are now available for sale in the App Store. At this point you'll be able to watch about 150 Spring Training games through a free preview of MLB.TV, and listen to available radio broadcasts of Spring Training games. Like the 2010 version of the app, you can get a close-up batter's view of every at-bat, breaking news, schedules, rosters, and players stats. The description of the app notes that additional features and functionality will be released for Opening Day on March 31. Major League Baseball apparently didn't listen to user Read More

By Chris Hall on February 25th, 2011 MLB At Bat 2011 is here just in time for Spring Training. There’s nothing overtly new about this seasons variety of the amazing MLB At Bat apps, but with baseball season just around the corner, it’s now prime time to pick up the app. As an extra treat for those who download early, the MLB will be streaming around 150 spring training games this season as part of the free MLB.tv mobile preview. In addition, each game will receive the same on-air radio treatment and batter-by-batter action that each game gives you during the regular season. Check out the full list of Spring Training goodies: For the first time ever I’ll get to see my Astros play spring training ball in the Grapefruit League. I’m more than just a little excited. For those who had never used MLB At Bat in the past, it Read More

Shame on MLB......Again!
kypokerguy 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Obviously our complaints from last season fell on deaf ears. Why can't they offer one reasonable price for a combined iPad/iPod app? $120 for MLB.tv PLUS $14.99 for the iPad app PLUS $14.99 for the iPod app? Talk about taking advantage of loyal customers and baseball fans. I can only hope the PS3 app will still be free, guess we'll find out soon.
Subscription=$119, Plus $14.99=iPad, Plus $14.99=iPhone=RIDICULOUS!
Foo4Everlong 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
I love this app, but I must say to make us pay for a subscription plus another $14.99 each for the iPad and the iPhone is just a little ridiculous! I mean, if u charge us a one time fee for both applications then that's reasonable, but $14.99 for each is a little hefty. Maybe instead make it a package deal of $20 if u purchase both apps, or better yet, $14.99 for both sounds better to me. Thanks for your great work on the apps I just think your prices are just a little high. Thanks for reading. Later
WTF Ads?
Metrobus 2.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
While I like the features of this app, I'm kind of disgusted that MLB charges $15 for the app then has the unmitigated gall to throw ads into the articles. Not sure I'm going to buy this after this season - the greed is just too disgusting.
There's not ONE new feature
Tpshortstop 2.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
No player tracking, no archived games, not one new thing for another $30 for the two versions. Terribly disappointed that they could make us pay again for doing absolutely nothing.
finally baseball is back!
Phillies2011champs 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Loved the app in 2010, excited the 2011 season is here!
Simply the Best!!!!!!!
OhhhWell 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
This is by far the best sports app for either the iPhone or iPad. Add MLB.TV and you have yourself something that is truly magical for all MLB fans. I only have one request "AirPlay". I think anyone who owns an AppleTV would love to beam these games to the big screen. Make it happen MLB.
Good App Fine Tuned and Better for '11
Robb Sky 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
This app was great last year, and it looks mostly the same for 2011. However, MLB has promised to add new features by opening day, so I imagine it will get even better. Apart from that, this app performs better than the 2010 app. Articles and videos load faster, the navigation is much quicker, and overall it feels very fine tuned compared to the 2010 edition. Some people complain about the price, but included in the $14.99 is one free televised game per day as well as all the games you want by radio. You would pay for those if you wanted them on the web, so for me, it's not an extravagant price. It would be nice to have a universal app for iPhone/iPad, but there isn't, at least not this season. I'd rather have the iPad app due to the larger screen real estate since I have to choose. Looking forward to all the free Spring Training games through the app as well. Overall, a solid app and a must-have for any baseball fan. Looking forward to the updates throughout spring training and into the season.
A HOME RUN!
SpYderMike 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
This app is amazing. I've bought the iPhone AND iPad app for the past 2 seasons. I have no problem spending $30 for them cause I never have any problems with either apps and because I know I'm gonna use them every single day. Highly recommend this app to anyone who loves baseball. These apps coupled with MLB.tv premium is every baseball fan's dream. Don't be scared of the price. Buy it, you'll love it.
At Bat is the ONLY Baseball app needed
dt31 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Great app. Only complaint is that it isn't available for both iPad and iPhone w one purchase....go Phillies!
Good App, bad pricing strategy.
SlBees Fan 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
i'm not saying anything that hasnt been said. but if enough voices get behind it, maybe mlb will change. shouldn't have to buy multiple apps. either make one app that scales to ipad and iphone, or cut the price. while i like having it in hd (ipad) this probably be the last year
GREEDY SOB's
NoBaseLikeHome 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Good app, but you are nonetheless Triple dipping SOB's.
Take it in the pants
J\Man 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Would have been good for MLB to listen to their fans..novel idea I know. The app is amazing the PS3 app is outstanding but the apps should be included for those of us who sign up annually for MLBTV.
Love it
Harley-Rider 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Still one of my favorite apps. Go White Sox!
Best Baseball App Period
Oblidoblido 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
If you are truly a MLB fan, you will buy this App to go along with your 2011 Season subscription to MLBTV just to watch live games ... of all teams. I cannot even begin to imagine life without it.
Well worth it
LPMNetwork 5.0 stars Version: 4.0.0
Worth the fifteen bucks, I'd pay 30 for it! use it every day all year long
