Christmas Sale: Every EA Published Game $.99 or Free
Calendar16 Tue, 20 Dec 2011 19:51:29 UTC +00:00
We've come to expect EA to never mess around with its sales, and we're pleased to report that it certainly isn't messing around with its latest. From now, and presumably until shortly after New Years Day, all of the publisher's gargantuan premium catalogue is an agreeable $.99. That means games like Madden 12, Trenches II, and many others have been reduced up to 90-percent off the original asking price. Whoa, right? This same sale happened last year around this time, too. You probably know the story, but EA managed to choke the App Store's charts with its titles and pushed everyone out of its way. It was a powerful move that set the yuletide savings tone moving forward. We've got a list, but just as a note, we haven't listed every single EA game, just the ones in this "holiday sale." If you're looking for something else, hit up EA's publisher Read More

When I think of Valentine’s Day I think of Cupid prancing around, shooting his arrows into people to help them fall in love, couples planning their days out with brunches, picnics, and an elegant dinner at a 5 star restaurant. I also think of the rest of you poor bastards who say that you’re fine with being single and you prefer your independence rather than reporting in with someone on everything you do, but let’s face it, you just haven’t found the right person yet. Instead of staying home and being miserable watching RomComs while eating a bucket of Turkey Hill ice cream, you can stay home and celebrate your independence by playing games all weekend long. If playing some fine iOS games is your idea of a good time, then you’ve come to the right place as a both EA Mobile and Gameloft have dropped the prices of their iOS Read More

After seeing a ton of success with their massive holiday 99¢ sale, the folks at EA Mobile are once again going on a discount binge. While not quite as extensive as that previous sale, a number of EA titles have temporarily dropped to 99¢ as part of an "I  ♥ 99¢ Sales" sale. Check out the following list of discounted games which are directly linked to the App Store: iPhone/iPod touch games: iPad games: The sale is said to run for 48 hours, so make sure and grab whatever you like while it's currently discounted. We'll keep our eyes on AppShopper.com to see if any new titles are added to this sale, as several new games were added to the sale just as I've been working on this post. The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More
EA Mobile Hands-On Event – 'Monopoly Classic for iPad'
Calendar16 Fri, 03 Dec 2010 11:20:04 UTC +00:00
EA Mobile has already brought two successful versions of the Monopoly franchise to the iPhone/iPod touch, classic Monopoly [$2.99] and The World Edition [$2.99], but now it's the iPad's turn. Obviously the larger screen of the iPad makes for a more enjoyable experience with a virtual board game, but EA has also added a few interesting twists to the game to make it more than just a straight digital conversion. First of all, the other iOS versions of Monopoly are pretty hard. I've heard more than one player complain that the AI was “cheating” because they would get whooped badly so often. The iPad version looks to remedy this with Teacher Mode where you play a much friendlier AI, not just in difficulty but also in offering helpful hints and tips. The AI in Teacher Mode will pop up with information like which color properties get landed on the most so Read More
Happy Thanksgiving – Here Are a TON of Games on Sale
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Nov 2010 11:04:08 UTC +00:00
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been all my life. What's there not to love about an entire day revolving around eating massive amounts of turkey, stuffing, and all the other fixings? Sure, I could do without needing to feign interest in football, but thankfully tryptophan overload usually allows me to sleep through all of that. If you're looking for something to do this year while you do your best to either pretend to be interested in football or anxiously wait for the food to be done, there are a ton of sales on the App Store to consider. The basis of this post comes from SirAwesome's awesome thread in our new price drops, freebies, and deals forum. He put together an extremely exhaustive listing of everything that's on sale, and the thread is good to stop by just to make sure you're not missing anything that might Read More

iPad games we’d love to see
Calendar16 Fri, 26 Mar 2010 15:09:19 UTC +00:00
After news of the HD and XL iPad versions of some of our favorite games are on their way – Flight Control being one of my personal obsessions – we thought it would be fun to ponder what other boardgames would make for a fun iPad experience. Here’s our list. What would you guys like to see?Carcassonne – If you’ve never split a few bottles of wine (or tequila) and played Carcassonne, you haven’t lived. To be able to play this with a few people on the iPad would be amazing and you wouldn’t have to carry all those cards around. The game is pretty simple – you put down random cards to build cities, roads, and farms. You place a knight on a card to claim it and get the knight back when you’ve completed a feature. However, it’s amazingly addictive and an iPad version would be great. Sim City Read More

If an angry, perspiring Steve Ballmer took over control of my iPhone and said I could only have one third-party app on it, I know which app I'd keep. EA's Monopoly Here and Now: The World Edition [US$4.99, iTunes Link] has been my favorite game on the iPhone since it first appeared. Just how much am I addicted to this game? I've played 272 games against three other AI players. At about 45 minutes per game, that's almost nine days of my life that I've spent enjoying Monopoly on my iPhone. There was always one thing that bothered me about The World Edition: that it wasn't the game I remembered as a child. It uses cities from all over the world, from Gdynia to Montreal, transportation modes from rail to space instead of the four classic railroads, and had some other rule changes that were different. EA just made my day, Read More
If EA’s previous version of Monopoly for the iPhone and iPod touch left you feeling unsatisfied, then you will definitely be pleased to know that they have finally released the original version of the classic board game. Monopoly looks and feels much more like the classic board game that we all know and love.  It features the usual touch-based game mechanics to purchase, trade, and upgrade your properties, and the ability to shake your device to roll the dice.  Everything is modeled in 3D, and you can choose between three different room styles to reflect your mood.  The game’s rules can be customized in a variety of ways, so you can play exactly how you want.  The game also contains three levels of difficulty, in case you are already a Monopoly master. The game features four-player multiplayer via Wi-Fi and pass and play, or two-player via Bluetooth.  Sadly, Monopoly doesn’t support Read More

Are you all slow?
Super confused gamer 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
Ummm it seems like the stuff most of you complain about (other than classic mode) such as turning off tutorials and the facts on the cards can all be turned off in options...... Doesn't anyone else check options anymore??? Personally that's the first thing I do in every single game. Fantastic version, a classic board would make this game unbeatable!!!!
Not to love?

Dear Electronic Arts
Great but...
Monopolymaniac 1.0 stars Version: 1.2
I hate how the money is in millions, I rather it have a classic mode with the original properties
Well done!

Are you serious, EA? You couldn't have done better?
Bambi3155 2.0 stars Version: 2.3
The graphics are great. It would have been nice if EA had at least offered the option of playing the original Monopoly, but I bought this version anyways because I *love* Monopoly.
Exciting to see Monopoly but it needs a CLASSIC MODE!
rwl4 3.0 stars Version: 1.2
Monopoly is one of my favorite games, and this version has good interaction, but I'm definitely not into the "here and now" aspect of it. I would upgrade my rating to 5 stars if EA would add a classic mode.
Perfect
The Bitter End 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
I was hoping for this game to be all that I love about the board game, and it was better. Here is why.
Well done!
Galley99 5.0 stars Version: 2.2
EA did a great job on developing Monopoly for the iPhone. The interface is well-designed, and the customizations are most welcome. The graphics are sometimes jaggy, and it would also be nice if there was an original game board option. The dice-shaking physics could be improved. With a few tweaks it would definitely be a 5-star game. Overall, it's well worth the $7.99 price.
fantastic!
gamer 123 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
This game is amazing.
FIX FOR NON WORKING GAME!
BenDaltonDOTCom 2.0 stars Version: 1.2
First off, boo to EA games for their lack of acknowledgement of this issue. I checked their support website and the best advice they had was to reboot the phone. Obviously this was an issue affecting many customers. Also, boo to Apple for not integrating a better customer service system for App developers. Apple, you should do something ala GetSatisfaction.com so that users can connect up with companies regarding their product. Since you have made us go through you to acquire the product, you should provide the mechanism for us to get refunds when things don't work and connect up with the software provider. Okay, the fix is below...
Finally! The last of my "Must Have" games!
iPhapp Pete 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
I wish it were the original version, but this'll do. Pretty intuitive commands and quick playing. I've played one game so far, and lost. :( I wish there were more options, such as to turn off the "fun facts." But pretty much everything else is there that I'm used to. Buy it!
Best mobile Monopoly ever!
Guvnor007 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
The graphics are smooth and fun and it's a blast to play! I too wish there were an option to play classic Monopoly but this version is really, really great!
AI is ridiculous
Chrisryanj 1.0 stars Version: 2.2
The AI whipped into submission. Collected free parking 10 times, never hit luxury tax or any of my monopolies. I always hit the tax, and hit his one monopoly multiple times. He had $50m while I hovered around $3m all game. The dice are absolutely not random. This game is awesome until the computer decides to cheat. Please change to random dice.
Best game ever!!!

This was really worth $8. I actually read some reviews on this and it discouraged me to purchase monopoly, but then I went to YouTube and saw a video of someone playin it and it completely changed my mind. I'd given it 10 stars to be honest. I can't put down my itouch now. Also, it has really awesome animations. Buy this game, you won't regret it! [:
Well Done!

Very clear graphics, nice interface. Like playing the board game, but not having to worry about keeping the money straight. Wish there was a way to use original names, but I guess I'll get used to the new names.
Finally!

I've been waiting for this game forever and it has exceeded my expectations so far. Fun gameplay with good graphics this is one of the better Monopoly ports I've played. Not sure what all the one-star reviews are for... for those who don't think that the standard currency is $, lets use our heads a little. K=Thousands and M=Millions. Most people who have played here and now know that the prices of properties have increased to reflect current rates. And yes, you are buying landmarks around the world instead of the traditional Monopoly spaces. Most people who read the name of this app could have probably told you that even without buying the app itself. Just ignore all of the low reviews. If you are a fan of Monopoly you should definately pick this up.
I want classic!

I love monopoly and I have been waiting for it since the app store was launched. They need to get the classic version the "here and now" version is way too confusing!
HUGE disappointment

Doesn't give option for currency and the default is not $. Are you kidding me? Agree that classic version should be option and also should have option of no auction. I hate auction. I want similar version to what I had on my Palm where I could set my game preferences. On the plus side, love shaking the dice and having the game piece scurry around the board and of course the graphics are really purdy. I know an update must be on the way for the desired options...and then the price could jump to m250K - yeah, that's the rent on the current square I see. What the heck???
I cried because I had no shoe...

but then I got over it - so far, like the game - would like to be able to turn of the Auction option - otherwise, a neat port of Monopoly. Used to love this on the Treo, but this is much more like playing on an actual board. Dig it!
Love it.

Monopoly works great on my 3G and my friend's iPod touch. I can't say anything but I love it and can't stop playing.

The rolls aren't random. They favor the "AI" to different degrees depending on the difficulty setting. Computer uncanilly avoids your properties and makes dumb trades with other computer players.
Great game!

If you don't really mind the fact that the property names aren't from the classic version, and that the currency works in millions instead of thousands, it's hours of fun! Great graphics, and though some people seem to be having crash problems, on my phone it's completely stable. Totally worth 8 bucks! I had the palm os version a few years ago, which sold for 20 bucks, and this version is way better.
Monopoly!

I had been waiting so long for EA to come out with Monopoly for the iPod touch/ iPhone!!! I love this game! Yes it is different from the classic, but really not that much. The property names are different, (but still the same cost and locations) the pieces are different, and the money is different (still the same numbers but measured in millions and thosands. For instance, one "railroad" in the classic game cost 200 whereas now it costs 2M). Overall this game is my new favorite game on my iPod and it doesn't get old like most other games. The graphics are awesome and the "world edition" aspect really doesn't bother me even though I am a diehard classic Monopoly fan. Buy this game!!!
