I use MotionX GPS every day, and I'm someone who not long ago didn't think I'd ever need a GPS system. But I've been using it daily to track my walking mileage to fit exercise into my day. I really like listening to music and just heading out the door --and the best part is I don't need a defined course/track to measure my distances (high school track or municipal trail, etc.). That works well for an "urban explorer" like me -- I can just walk wherever I want, and save my favorite routes, geo-tag photo's to "brag" to friends, etc. And I must say the overall polish of this program is impressive and shows the attention to detail that went into making it.

I'm a pro boarder and guide tours up the Sierras. So I built two setups: Incase extra battery and water sailing bag for long trecks and a simple Otterbox for trecks that are less than 4 hours. I am blown away by the fact that not only I can do everything that I couldn't do with a $500 Garmin, but I can also give tour updates through automated emails to the base and show them automatically where we are on the Mountain *WITH ONE CLICK*. At the end I can instantly send tracks with automatically attached pictures (on the track) to my customers..... I mean this is the next generation CONNECTED ACTION GPS. I thinkt hat the MotionX team has not done justice to what they built by not pumping what it really does. Anyone into an action sport like mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, climbing, sailing, running wants this. Get that Ottercase... It is totally water resistant (better than Garmin), costs less than $75 and allows you to use the touchscreen. It doesn't get much better than that. I hope that the MotionX team keeps on pushing this edge. Highly recommended!

This applications kicks the new Garmin Colorado C.  After using MotionX on my bike I decided to try it on a stand-up-paddle surfing expedition. 

Reading some of these reviews, it's obvious a few users don't understand this app. This isn't for turn-by-turn directions, nor should anyone attempt to use it for such. This is made for off-road use like hiking and mountain biking, and it does its job extraordinarily well. Like all GPS units not made for Joe Sixpack to get around town, this requires a little understanding of geographic coordinates. Try taking a Garmin or a Tom-Tom into the mountains and you'll quickly understand the difference.

C'mon folks. If you're looking for address input and turn by turn read the directions. This app is a great GPS app and a steal for the price. My only suggestion is to allow for different distance increments..ie feet/yards/meters. I would like to use this for golf bit the pin .03km isn't helpful as I would like. But for what the app was designed for, hands down a great app.

Two additions would take this to 5 stars (it is now up to 4.5 stars) and make it, literally, my favorite app on the iPhone.

I have yet to encounter a glitch with this app. It looks great as well. I was using another GPS app and it actually worked pretty well, but Motion X GPS is simply hands down superior. Plus, it has the look and feel and easy information architecture like a good Mac app. I just hope nobody got me a stand alone GPS for Christmas because I doubt I will be using it. This does what I need.

I love this for power walking! Awesome to log my tracks time and pace, then compare my speed, time and route over different days. I am using this to keep my exercise program interesting - It is really useful and super polished. Nice work folks!!

V4 takes it up another notch with a very nice UI and topo. Way to go!!!!!!I V3 takes this from a very good app to a great one!!!! I use this road cycling and it rocks!!!!

I ride many trails on my dirt bike out in the deserts of Califonia. I have always wanted a GPS system to track my route and speed and also to download the information to view and share with other fellow riders. I found those gps units made with these specs where very expensive. Then i found Motion X, I tried the Lite version and went on a ride with my iPhone. All i have to say is WOW!! i loved the features and interface of the program. So its natural to say i have upgraded to the full version. Way to go fullpower with another great app!!

New interface looks fantastic. This is by far the best GPS app out there.

I started using the Lite version then I decided to go with the final version because is a very good tool, I can use it to create my own waypoints and save it on google earth, got sports is great, when running this tool is needed to keep Tull records of your training, this is a must have tool

This is by far the best GPS app for the iPhone right now. I use it for geocaching and it works perfectly. The recently added tracks and camera functions are great for mapping your trip. By using the email track feature you can easily get your pictures and your track placed on google maps to see where you've been. Definitely worth buying the full version.

This makes the price of an Iphone free. I am an amateur nature photographer. I spend hours in heavy swamp land taking nature shots with my D300 and always wanted to keep track of my movements. What a great app that cost nearly nothing.

This app rocks! The GPS is able to keep track of where you have gone while hiking, flying, etc. I enjoy that it doesn't just give you the two points you've been to, it shows the path you took as well. I think that the people at MotionX must be pretty smart to have come up with something like this.

I love the email function. I find the waypoint save it and send the info to my email all in 2 minutes.

Great update! I m over the google map thang! Better without it! Don't need tightwad google anyways,the four hours I used google sat.image was confusing and hard to read. 'f' google, who needs em! Use another search once in awhile! Good work Motion-X! This app is recommened to ALL!

This is the best app on my iPhone. I use it for mountain biking with a RAM mount and it works great. I also use it for hiking, skiing, and other sports. Absolutely amazing. Once I am finished with the track, I download it to Every Trail and get a great view of what I just did and I can share it with my friends. Awesome job MotionX!!

I am pleased with the value of this GPS application. It has replaced my old Magellan, along with all the features I used. While the antenna doesn't do well in between the tall buildings downtown, I was surprised that it kept a good track while riding the bus once we left town. I'm going to use this program for my geocaching, even though I also own the official Geocaching application. I'll still use it to select which geocache I'll search for. ;)

I'm in charge of GPS purchases for a government agency, and am a huge fan of Gar__n's products. While you are limited by the iphone hardware and battery, this software blows the doors off of any of G's products - easily the best GPS interface I've used.

this app is great! it makes your iPhone a real GPS. it can measure your distance, time, speed very accurately. it will also follow you and record all your track. the apps finds you instantly and very accurately. it has a very convinient layout and works just great! it is really a must have and i recomend it for everyone that owns an iPhone 3G.

It's amazing to me that the folks at MotionX have the time to make upgrades....they seem to spend so much time writing their own reviews....or, enlisting their friends to do the same so no negative reviews are visible on the first screen. Nothing has changed: this is still a waste of money and you are being misled. Previous review; Frankly when I see how quickly there are lengthy responses to negative reviews....especially with very technical responses that all seem to speak for the designers....I'm beginning to think the developers are writing their own reviews. Seems to me that this is likely illegal or at the very least, if exposed, will show what lengths they will go to in an effort to dupe even more consumers. When you are looking at the information trying to decide if this really is the bomb....ignore the quote from iPhone blog that says "awesome, better than my $500 Garmin." This quote disingenuously leads you to believe that you're buying a gps that will give you directions. It's only AFTER you've wasted your money that you can read in the FAQ section that this app will not give you turn by turn directions. Yes, Garmin does make a device similar to this app but most of us want directions, not a compass or our longitudinal and latitudinal positioning. This app is also deceivingly placed in the navigation category. Even if you mistake GPS for a direction device like people have in their cars, as I dif, you will certainly think a navigation system Is exactly that. Maybe I didn't read the information and reviews carefully enough but I feel DUPED. Why would you bury the fact that you can't get directions only to disclose it after you've gotten a customer to uwittingly purchase an app useless to most people? Garmin and TomTom may make devices that do what this app does but those two names are synonymous with navigation systems for cars and this is not that. I want my money back.

I'm new to this just figuring out GPS but this is soo cool. Much more useful than all these games out there. I can actually do something with this. Just took a walk around the block with it, I'm gonna try it with my mountain bike this weekend.

Just checked out the new features for OS 3.0. Pretty cool. Love the iPod access -- wish more of my apps would offer this feature. Magnetic compass works awesome. Pretty sweet deal for just $3 bucks.

When I first started using this application I thought it was perfect. I was wrong. Every upgrade has made it even better. Thank you Motion X for supporting your software and improving it for us. I hike in some rugged areas, and I trust this application to find my way out even more than my Garmin E-Trex.
