Movie★Slate is a digital slate, clapper board, shot log, and shot notepad— designed for use with film, television, documentaries, interviews, and home movies.

Movie★Slate provides an easy way to log footage and take notes as you shoot— saving you time later when you capture and edit the footage on your computer.

DIGITAL SLATE

Photograph the slate at the start of each shot. Enter production info by tapping a particular slate field. Easily "jam" (set) the timecode using the optimized keypad, or sync to time-of-day. Sync timecode over bluetooth to other iPhones and iPod touches. Use the optimized keypad to quickly increment roll, scene, take. Choose director and D.P. names from your contacts, or enter them using the keyboard. Or load all production data from the saved History, making it easy to quickly switch between multiple productions. You can customize the slate’s appearance for each production or shot-- choose from various clapper stick designs, slate background colors, slate fonts, and clock timecode colors.

CLAPPER BOARD

Tap the clapper: it opens and closes, producing an optional sync sound and animation. An optional credits “leader roll” displays each piece of production information (date, timecode, production, director, roll, scene, take) for one second, full screen. Moments later, a screen appears with buttons to ★-rate audio/video quality, create shot marker/notes, or end the shot (saving the timecode OUT point to the shot’s History). Optional “end roll” credit animations can appear at the end of each shot.

SHOT MARKER/NOTES, VOICENOTES, IMAGENOTES

During each shot, you can save multiple timecode-stamped notes. Notes can contain text, audio*, or images* (* requires iPhone OS 3 on a device with microphone/camera). For instance, when shooting interviews use notes to document when a particular question was asked, or when something remarkable was said. You can enter notes using the microphone, camera, keyboard, or insert built-in snippet phrases (such as “Interview”, “Question”, “Extreme Close Up”, or “Handheld”). You can customize snippet phrases too.

SHOT LOG HISTORY

When you tap the clapper, all production, GPS location, and timecode data is stored to a Shot Log History, where you can view, edit, or ★-rate shots. From the app, you can search History by production, roll, scene, or take. You can also sort History by roll/scene/take, date/time, or ★-rate. History and Notes can be emailed in HTML, CSV, tab-delimited, or Final Cut XML* formats (* requires iPhone OS 3).
