Gameloft Releasing Standalone 'Gameloft Live' App
Calendar16 Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:45:16 UTC +00:00
Yesterday, Gameloft announced the release of a standalone app for their online gaming network Gameloft Live for Android devices, with the app scheduled to hit the iOS App Store in the near future. In case you're unaware, Gameloft Live is a service baked into all of Gameloft's games that allows for persistent tracking of achievements and leaderboards, as well as a friend list and social features, across their library of titles. While I prefer Game Center nowadays as it's the Apple standard, I've always felt that Gameloft Live provided one of the strongest 3rd party social gaming networks. Perhaps true to Gameloft's form, Gameloft Live reminded me a lot of the Xbox Live service on consoles. The standalone app will allow you to access Gameloft Live from outside of a game, and looks to offer a lot of new features. You can meet up with friends in the app and chat, check Read More

Posted 12/16/2011 at 8:11am | by Steve Haske Far be it from us to question Microsoft’s unexpected decision to cross-pollinate its Xbox gaming brand with iOS, but if you’ve ever wanted instant access to your Xbox Live account from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, the aptly-named My Xbox Live does exactly that. As you might expect, the app itself is a pretty straightforward affair. After logging in to your Live account, the interface becomes a portable version of the Xbox 360 console Dashboard, offering news and personal updates, such as messages. And interestingly enough, My Xbox Live also has far fewer ads than you’ll find in the latest Xbox 360 interface. It’s the personal interactions that make this app worthwhile for avid Xbox Live players. Want to see which of your friends are online, and what they’re playing? You can do that. You can also change your avatar’s look -- Read More

My Xbox LIVE
Calendar16 Mon, 12 Dec 2011 23:31:58 UTC +00:00
If you want to log into your Xbox LIVE account without having to use a PC or your Xbox 360, this app is for you. My Xbox LIVE lets you read and send messages to your friends, set beacons, watch videos, check out achievements, and even change the clothing and features of your avatar. It may not sound like much, but it’s a welcome addition to any Xbox gamer’s iOS device. All they have to do is download it to their iOS device, log in with their account info and they’re good to go. This iPhone app also works with the iPad and iPod Touch. There are three main sections for My Xbox LIVE: Spotlight, Social, and Games. Spotlight consists of videos that you would usually see of the Xbox 360 dashboard. From previews and trailers to tips and specials, there’s plenty of stuff to watch if you’re looking for new Read More

+ Universal App FREE! Our Review By Oliver Haslam on December 12th, 2011 Rating: :: Lively It may say iPhone and iPad in the app description, but as soon as "My Xbox Live" is fired up we're immediately using a Windows Phone 7 device, and I love it. Some, however, might not. Developer: Price: FREE Version Reviewed: 1.2.0 Device Reviewed On: iPhone 4S & iPad 2 iPhone Integration Rating: User Interface Rating: Re-use Value Rating: Overall Rating: It has taken much, much longer than it really should, but Microsoft has finally found it worth the effort to put out an iOS app which ties right into our Xbox Live accounts, bringing everything from videos and features to friend interaction to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Once downloaded, we are asked to enter our Xbox Live credentials, a necessity if the app is to go off and connect to the same Read More
My Xbox Live Hits the iOS App Store
Calendar16 Thu, 08 Dec 2011 17:14:10 UTC +00:00
by Xbox has just released the My Xbox Live app for iOS. The app follows close on the heels of a massive update for Xbox 360 which turns Microsoft’s video game console into a gesture and voice-controlled media hub. The free mobile app is a companion to the 360, allowing users to access their Xbox Live profile and achievements, edit their avatar and connect with friends over the social web. No, you cannot play Xbox games through the app.Microsoft and Apple have had a complicated rivalry over the years as the companies butted heads while showing some begrudging mutual respect. The release of My Xbox Live is a nice example of cross-pollination. Apple doesn’t have a home console so there’s little to lose by allowing Microsoft’s games-based app to go live. My Xbox Live might be a welcome addition to the app market but Microsoft is still withholding some functionality. The Read More
La Read More
Microsoft released an update to its Xbox 360 yesterday that drastically changes its UI that they’re hoping will streamline the Xbox experience to both hardcore and casual Xbox 360 owners. Today, the company went ahead and released an Xbox Companion app on Windows Phone, but surprisingly, an official Xbox Live app has finally made its way to the iOS platform. Both the Xbox Live iOS app and Xbox Companion for Windows Phone allows users to log in to their Xbox Live account windows their Windows Live ID. The Xbox Live app for iOS should be familiar for those of you who have used the Xbox Live app for Windows Phone. You can view your Xbox Live profile, friends list, send & receive messages, check on your achievements, and even view videos and other content from the Xbox 360 dashboard on your device. You can even change your avatar’s clothing on the Read More
My Xbox Live available on the App Store
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Dec 2011 22:05:00 UTC +00:00
Xbox owners with iPhones or iPads, rejoice! Microsoft has added a brand new app called My Xbox Live to the App Store today. The free app takes your Xbox Live experience portable, letting you connect with friends, update your Avatar, and even browse through the games hub all directly from the App. The app is a 17 MB download and is universal for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It requires iOS 4.3 or later. It also needs (of course) an Xbox LIVE membership, and you'll have to know the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox account. If you've updated your Xbox this week already with the new dashboard, you'll know that you have to approve some brand new Terms of Service to sign in to Xbox Live, so you'll have to approve those to use this app as well. Our friends at Joystiq have found that the ToS might Read More
Microsoft Releases Official Xbox Live App
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Dec 2011 21:05:31 UTC +00:00
Microsoft, via Xbox Live evangelist Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, has just announced the immediate release of the company's first Xbox Live-oriented app, My Xbox Live [Free]. It's a free app that basically acts as a mobile companion to some of the more important aspects of the service. You can read and send messages to anyone on your Friend's List, manage that list or invite new people onto it, edit your profile, gander at all of your hard-earned achievements, or even mess with your Avatar's apparel. Our time with My Xbox Live has been pretty limited so far, but we're pretty pleased with its presentation and how silky smooth the menu-to-menu navigation is on our iPhone 4S. What's especially tickling us is how it plays all those wonderful little dashboard sounds we've come to love, too. If you're into the idea of having a mobile version of your Live dashboard in your Read More
Microsoft debuts official Xbox LIVE client for iOS devices
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Dec 2011 20:53:39 UTC +00:00
Microsoft may have launched its companion app for Xbox consoles on Windows Phone 7 devices exclusively, but it isn’t leaving iOS users completely out in the cold. The official My Xbox LIVE universal app, which works on both iPhone and iPad, is in the App Store now. My Xbox LIVE doesn’t have the console-controlling functions of the Xbox Companion app, but it does offer gamers access to their Xbox LIVE account info, including game achievements, your 3D avatar and friends management and messaging. In fact, if you don’t have a keyboard accessory for your Xbox controller, it makes chatting with friends, managing your friends list and setting Beacons, which alert you to when your friends want to do the same thing as you, much easier. Loading Picture 1 of 8 It’s actually a very handy little app, and it does a good imitation of Windows Phone 7 for people who haven’t experienced Read More

Finally a Microsoft-made XBL app!

Clean interface, friend messaging and videos you normally see only on the Xbox won me over. Now, add the Marketplace and this app will make all other XBL apps irrelevant.
Thank you guys
