Men like hitting stuff. At least, the “manly-men” of the world do, according to EA. The studio has kicked off its own Fathers’ Day celebration on the App Store, slashing prices for several of its action and sports-oriented titles. Big names like FIFA 11 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Madden 11 have been reduced to pennies, while others are receiving generous discounts. Dead Space, for example, is now just $3. Overall, there’s over a dozen EA-published games available at 85-percent off the normal rate. We’re not sure how much longer the “Many-Man sale” -- no joke -- will last, so it’s probably wise to grab any of these while they’re on the cheap. If you’re interested in more deals, know that EA isn’t the only publisher hacking at its standard prices -- Gameloft and Firemint have their own going on right now.   #5   Today, 04:45 PM Junior Member Read More
EA wields an incredible amount of power on the App Store. Their game catalog is incredibly vast, and consists of tons of well known IP that even non-gamers are familiar with. When they pulled a similar stunt this holiday season, EA absolutely dominated the top sales list which was great for gamers who scored absolutely insane deals, but bad for other developers who had their Christmas dreams decimated by EA controlling the majority of the App Store top 100. We'll see what happens this time around with this similarly massive sale- This is definitely a great time to fill in your collection if you're missing any of these EA titles. It's hard to really provide any real recommendations here since so many of these games are so good. If you don't have Dead Space yet, I'd really download that. Same with NBA Jam. Also, it's hard to really say which is Read More

When I think of Valentine’s Day I think of Cupid prancing around, shooting his arrows into people to help them fall in love, couples planning their days out with brunches, picnics, and an elegant dinner at a 5 star restaurant. I also think of the rest of you poor bastards who say that you’re fine with being single and you prefer your independence rather than reporting in with someone on everything you do, but let’s face it, you just haven’t found the right person yet. Instead of staying home and being miserable watching RomComs while eating a bucket of Turkey Hill ice cream, you can stay home and celebrate your independence by playing games all weekend long. If playing some fine iOS games is your idea of a good time, then you’ve come to the right place as a both EA Mobile and Gameloft have dropped the prices of their iOS Read More

After seeing a ton of success with their massive holiday 99¢ sale, the folks at EA Mobile are once again going on a discount binge. While not quite as extensive as that previous sale, a number of EA titles have temporarily dropped to 99¢ as part of an "I  ♥ 99¢ Sales" sale. Check out the following list of discounted games which are directly linked to the App Store: iPhone/iPod touch games: iPad games: The sale is said to run for 48 hours, so make sure and grab whatever you like while it's currently discounted. We'll keep our eyes on AppShopper.com to see if any new titles are added to this sale, as several new games were added to the sale just as I've been working on this post. Also, there's still a load of EA titles that are still 99¢ from their last big sale, so it may be worth Read More
The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More
Happy Thanksgiving – Here Are a TON of Games on Sale
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Nov 2010 11:04:08 UTC +00:00
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been all my life. What's there not to love about an entire day revolving around eating massive amounts of turkey, stuffing, and all the other fixings? Sure, I could do without needing to feign interest in football, but thankfully tryptophan overload usually allows me to sleep through all of that. If you're looking for something to do this year while you do your best to either pretend to be interested in football or anxiously wait for the food to be done, there are a ton of sales on the App Store to consider. The basis of this post comes from SirAwesome's awesome thread in our new price drops, freebies, and deals forum. He put together an extremely exhaustive listing of everything that's on sale, and the thread is good to stop by just to make sure you're not missing anything that might Read More

I was about to embark on a three-and-a-half-hour trek home to Connecticut from Maine after a beach weekend. I had two youngsters in the back seat and, my wife and I would quickly discover, no food. But I had gadgets, and I had apps. And I was about to find out if they could mollify an 8-year-old boy, Luca, and an 11-year-old girl, Juliana, more effectively than snacks. A little preview: if you have a BlackBerry, pack lots of snacks. An Android requires fewer, and an iPhone (or, better yet, an iPad) may completely replace road food, if you choose your apps well. My general philosophy is that staring silently out the window is one of the more rewarding uses of brain power. But when that gets old, the children’s bickering gets loud and you notice that two nearby drivers are engaged in highway texting (for real), philosophy does not help. Read More

by Game-maker Electronic Arts (EA) is selling a big chunk of its iPhone game library for just $0.99 per game for the next 48 hours — a steep discount for many of its titles which include Madden NFL 2010, FIFA 10 and SimCity. Not all of EA’s games are on sale, though. Sure, SimCity is $0.99, but [iTunes link] is still a steep $6.99, and while FIFA 2010 is just $0.99, the more timely [iTunes link] hangs at $2.99 — though that’s not a bad price, either. EA is one of the world’s biggest game publishers. Its EA Sports line of games is at the top of the heap, and franchises like The Sims, Mass Effect and Medal of Honor have at one time or another led in sales or influence. Increasingly, the company has extended those franchises to mobile devices like the iPhone. The full list of games on sale Read More

Don’t Miss 48hr Electronic Arts App Sale!
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 17:53:15 UTC +00:00
Electronic Arts produce some great games for the iPhone, however they’re never the cheapest on offer, but for the next 48 hours you could grab yourself some serious bargains, as EA have reduced 16 of their top games to $0.99/£0.59! The titles on offer are as follows, and clicking on a link will take you directly to iTunes. Many of these cost considerably more at launch, and titles such as Sim City, Need for Speed and Command & Conquer are certainly worth more than this low price given the polish those games have.  You have until midnight (US Eastern Time) on Wednesday 23rd June to download them for this price. We’ve picked up Battleship to add to our collection, how about you? Read More

EA Holding Massive $0.99 Sale for 48 Hours
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 14:04:00 UTC +00:00
EA is holding a massive $0.99 sale on over a dozen titles. The sale will only last 48 hours, so you have to act quickly. The games have been nicely organized by niezam into games that have never been $0.99 before, and ones that have (U.S. Links): $.99 for the first time $.99 once or several time before While all the games are good values for only $0.99, we'd probably say Need for Speed: Shift is the "must get" game from the list. It has frequently been cited as one of the best racing games for the iPhone, so it's a good one to have. So, I wrote iTunes (reported a problem) when I received my bill. And even though the game's info says that it's in English, and it's not, I was told that there is nothing that they can do for me, that the 'functionality of the game is Read More

'Split/Second' Explodes on to the App Store
Calendar16 Tue, 18 May 2010 10:28:57 UTC +00:00
Disney Interactive's arcade racing collaboration with Black Rock Studios, [$6.99], hit the App Store tonight and so far seems remarkably similar to the version we previewed last week: In Split/Second, you compete in a fictional reality television show where you compete for fame and fortune. Included are three gameplay modes: Season mode where you play through the TV show, quick race where you can play any unlocked track, and multiplayer mode which not only can be played locally via bluetooth and WiFi but also online. The main gimmick of Split/Second is the powerplay system. Racing through the game, a gauge near the back of your car slowly fills up in three segments. Doing things like drifting, drafting opponents, and just generally racing as aggressive as possible increases your powerplay meter. You can then spend this powerplay energy to initiate various explosions throughout the track to take out enemy racers as well Read More

Apple put up their full keynote today which can be streamed online or downloaded through iTunes by subscribing to the Apple events podcast. We clipped out the three games shown during the keynote: SnoCross was demonstrated as an example of a, existing 3D game from the App Store running on the iPad, while both N.O.V.A. and Need for Speed were tweaked to show some iPad-specific functionality utilizing the additional screen real estate available on the larger and higher resolution screen: Following the keynote, Joystiq got some hands-on time with the device where they played Need for Speed, N.O.V.A. and Scrabble: Also, if you listened to our recent podcast and want to hear more of what developers think of the iPad, both Joystiq and Boing Boing have great articles worth reading. The 53 Best iPhone Games [IPhone Apps]
Calendar16 Thu, 14 Jan 2010 00:40:00 UTC +00:00
Scouring the App Store for the best games is a full time job. Luckily, it's a job held by the guys over at Touch Arcade. Here are their picks for the best games—and only games—available on the iPhone. While the App Store had clearly been a huge success in 2008, the continued growth and explosion of iPhone game releases in 2009 was beyond everyone's expectations. The number of apps in the App Store soared past 100,000 with hundreds of new games being released every day. We sat down trying to figure out the best iPhone games of 2009 and found the task of narrowing down the list to a select few to be near impossible. Instead, we've organized our year in review into categories with what we feel is an excellent cross section of games from 2009. If you just got an iPhone or iPod Touch for Christmas, this list is Read More
Price: $9.99 Publisher: EA Mobile Buy now on It wasn’t long ago I heard that NFS: Shift would be coming to the iPhone.  Ever since, I have looked forward to seeing the type of adaptation it would get from EA Mobile.  The console game is universally adored and I went into this review hoping for the same, almost expecting to be disappointed.  Especially since EA Mobile’s track record has been mediocre at best.  So what did I find? The game has quite a bit of content.  20 cars, 18 tracks set in 4 different locations.  All of the locations look different and all of the cars look great.  A definite plus.  I started out using a Mazda and stepped up to a Porsche and could definitely tell a difference in engine sound, handling, etc.  It’s nice to see that kind of attention to detail on the iPhone. The sound is nice Read More

Need for Speed Undercover is the uncontested arcade racing king while Real Racing holds onto the simulation racing spot. Where does this belong? Need for Speed Shift was meant to be a simulation racer but instead the iPhone version is dead smack in the middle of the two genres. The racing style in NFS Shift is designed to be more of a simulation experience, with no incoming cars or being able to make other cars to flying. The racing modes and track designs just give this an arcade feel and the mix of the two makes for a deadly combination. Presentation To be honest as first I thought the graphics were a bit of a let down when compared to NFS Undercover. In Undercover it was released before the 3GS so they had to unload all they had onto the current devices to make it look good. In Shift the small Read More
If you're a fan of racing games, and were holding back on picking up EA's recently released Need For Speed: Shift [App Store] for some kind of sale, now is your chance. The price was dropped from $9.99 to $6.99 yesterday, and since then Shift has been rocketing up the iTunes charts. If this is the first you've heard of this game, we got a great deal of hands-on time before its release and posted an in-depth preview. Shift departs from the Need For Speed arcade style gameplay which has become standard over the years to include more simulation elements including the ability to customize cars in many different ways, buy new ones, and the game even constantly tracks your performance to determine what kind of driver you are-- Aggressive or precise. There's a lot to like about Need For Speed: Shift and we think it can easily hang with the Read More
