Most Complete Oxford
Ravenflite 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is the only dictionary that has the complete NOAD. This is not a butchered 'Concise, Mini, or Pocket' edition. The application is also extremely fast- I like the pronunciation button which uses sound files done by real people saying the word. The pronunciation button is also surprisingly lightning fast- considering the fact that it requires an internet connection to work. (The text part of the dictionary doesn't require an internet connection- just the sound portion) I do wish this dictionary had the ability to tap on a word within the definition to get the definition of that word. This feature would make the app immensely more fun and useful for me. Also where is the spell checker? For this kind of money I would like to see a few more features. I hope that Handmark is listening and will be releasing major updates in features the way Enfour is doing with their American Heritage Dictionary.
Well, the definitions are always accessible. . .

I wasn't impressed with the format of this app. You can't click on text with in definitions, which makes cross-referencing difficult. The button “more apps” is also annoying since it is very easy to hit it while scrolling.
Improve it
JUAN J L A 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
You say this app has 60000 audio pronunciation, but never said that this audio needs wi fi,please for $30 this app should have audio recorded without wifi as American heritage dictionary has.please upgrade it
Great dictionary, but...

Functionality is a miss. This functions only as a book. Why? Make words within the definitions clickable links. This IS a computer, after all. Sideways mobility is a must.
Changing my review - VERY Unhappy!
Bawker 1.0 stars Version: 1.2
I'm very angry - I paid $30 to have a full-featured offline dictionary for when I was away from home - and this P.O.S will only work in areas where there is WiFi access! Totally unacceptable!!! I'll change my review once this horrible bug is fixed.
works perfecto for meo
chubbybunny55 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Fast, responsive, easy to use interface. I didnt have any problems with it crashing. Maybe other reviewer was out of memory. Dictionary prices seem a bit high on the iphone compared to other apps but this is definitely the best of the best.
Suggestions,

Make words in definitions tapable, LIKE WORDBOOK HAS IT AND IT COSTS 4 BUCKS, and make audio accesible via the itouch itself not wifi...WOW.. for 30 bucks, you guys are doing horrible, jipping people off is not good.. I WILL GIVE 5 STAR WHEN FIXED, OTHER WISE ANYONE WHO SEES THIS, I SUGGEST YOU GET WORDBOOK DICTIONARY, IT HAS BETTER FEATURES.
The best
Truetotexas 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
By far the best dictionary app out there. The interface is beautiful and nothing else can touch it's completeness... Good job
Great but...

Ok, great app with so many entries and very clear word sound reproduction. But it should be possible to change the font size (which is small by default). And how come they ask for so much for an app and place an advertisement icon on every page??? (It stands right where you see an "i" (information) on the examples here in the store, in fact the "i" just doesn't exist)
Excellent Dictionary Moderate App

NOAD, as it calls itself, is a wonderful dictionary, perhaps the best there is by my standards, and I am glad to have it on my iPhone, where its encyclopedic coverage, its erudition, and its linguistic elegance are worth a minor headache or two. But, as other reviewers have observed, it could be a much better application than it is. Problems: (1) Unclickability of words within definitions. To define "jealousy" as the "state of being jealous" is reasonable in the interests of space, but to have to look up "jealous" separately is absurd. (2) I have had some crashes and freezes. (3) Valuable real estate in the Features bar at the bottom of the screen yielded to advertising! ("More Apps"). That lacks class, to say the least. I can think of some other features that deserve a place there. (4) Dictionary defaults (on an empty Search window, and on first opening) uselessly and annoyingly to the beginning of the alphabet. It would make more sense to me if it defaulted to "History." (5) Keyboard defaults to initial cap on all search requests. Merely annoying, because the cap rarely matters, but illogical because the vast majority of searches in a dictionary are not on proper names. I hope to see this fine (and expensive) dictionary evolve into a first-class application. My fear is that the publisher sees it merely as a cash cow. I bought it, didn't I?
Very Good
APDX 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It works fine on my ipod touch. The page setup of each article is as you would find it in the actual dictionary. Useful product which works anywere, even in the absence of wifi connection. I would appreciate an illustrated version.
Amazing
G Alexander 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
What a treat to carry a full dictionary in my pocket. I agree, the ability to tap on any word in a definition and go to that word's definition would be the ultimate in cross referencing. This seems like a tall order though, having millions of words all hyperlinked. It would also make scrolling via the touch screen a nightmare. Everywhere you touched would send you to another page. This application is amazing the way it is. Expensive, but amazing.
Best dictionary

Excellent Dictionary Moderate App

Update: I thought I'd discovered an inexplicable omission from the dictionary. I was wrong. Handmark quickly and courteously corrected me, and now I understand the interface better (a superscripted number at the end of the searched word indicates the availability of other entries accessible with up and down arrows.) NOAD, as it calls itself, is a wonderful dictionary, perhaps the best there is by my standards, and I am glad to have it on my iPhone, where its encyclopedic coverage, its erudition, and its linguistic elegance are worth a minor headache or two. But, as other reviewers have observed, it could be a much better application than it is. Problems: (1) Unclickability of words within definitions. Too expensive

Please make this app better. I can't even click any word on definition
As Good As I Can Find
goodtutor 5.0 stars Version: 1.3.100
I've been using this app as my dictionary of first resort for several months now. It has not let me down. The lexicon is large, the definitions as concise and accurate as one would expect in a dictionary bearing the Oxford name. I do wish that key words in the definitions were themselves clickable links. If a reader is not enlightened much by the information that sonething 'hortatory' usually exhorts, he must start a new search for 'exhort.' Etymologies are useful when supplied but for reasons that remain obscure they are often absent. The essays on usage are an unexpected disappointment. I cannot believe that they were written by Oxford scholars, or indeed writers of any great caliber. They are clumsily composed. They give examples of usage that only those who seek to master the well-turned platitude should follow. They promise a deft capture of elusive nuances of connotation, but deliver, more often than not, only a vague feint in the right general direction.
Buggy
Bseems 1.0 stars Version: 1.3.100
I was looking for a dictionary with more words than the (free) dictionary.com one. I've had the app for about 15 minutes and am currently trying to get my money back. I have a 3GS with about 30GB free space, yet when I click on certain words (about 15% of the ones i've tried thus far), like "kaffir lime" or "kaffiyeh," the app shuts down. Also I'm not convinced that this dictionary has more words than the dictionary.com one (based on a few quick lookups - one that didn't crash the app).
Too expensive
Gofchula 1.0 stars Version: 1.3.100
I still have problem with this Dictionary, I will not recommend this app to anyone I know. What a letdown. I've been waiting moths for update.
