I must have gone through more than 2 Dozen note apps and todo apps trying to find something for all my needs. - It solved my need to insert dates for a work in progress. Logging in events for a project or issue toward resolution. Mine was logging status of different job applications. - syncing was pretty easy. Would have liked a web sync to my google or some site instead of to my computer but you can upload, download and back up with the computer download that is free. It's not bad. Wifi needed. - the notebooks are listed first and u can organize by date or title in reverse or regular order. That was valuable due to somethings are date specific and some are item specific. - after notebooks, the unfiled notes are listed so you just scroll to see everything. I don't like having to open up another screen just to see my random notes. - I like the go to button so u don't have to back screen. - the size changing is cool but I would have liked to be able to change the font size with the font change screen. It's a bit clumsy to try to figure out what font size u want to change to with the two fingure gesture. All in all though it has beat all the other apps I have downloaded so far.

Seems to be a very useful notebook app, especially because has editing functions, organizational scheme and can import and export from your computer. Developer might want to add into his instructions regarding exporting notes from Notebooks to SyncDocs on Mac: need to go into SyncDocs setup, then click on 'use user directory for downloads', this then allows the exported notes to show up in the finder under your computer name as a folder called 'SyncDocs', nested in that is a folder called 'Notebooks', this is where your exported files now sits. Really look forward to this app being further developed. Would really like pdf files to be included. Also excellent and quick response to email support questions.

Having migrated from a Palm Treo to the iPOD Touch, and having over 1500 notes, I needed a solution to sync them with my Mac. I've tried other programs for the iPod, but this is without a doubt the best one. The sync is very fast and easy. Having categories for the notes is essential for me. One caveat: don't use the character "&" in the title of the note -- it won't sync. One improvement I would ask for: the Search feature is slow -- rather than being able to type the search string first and then hit a search button, the program searches as you type each letter.

I'm writing a book and this is app lets me write anywhere and transfer the files to my computer! This is the best app for writers! I would like this app to have spellcheck and a trashcan though

And my complaints are all related: 1) it is too hard to scroll through long notes: even the barest caress of the screen as I flick along summons the keyboard. An 'edit' button would be nice there; 2) it doesn't have search so I can't jump to a spot; and 3) when I finally get to my spot and I'm tapping away at the status bar to summon or re-dismiss the keyboard, I get leaped back to the top of the doc! (this last is quite aggravating in light of 1 & 2, I assure you). In short, a great program that does what it says but that needs a touch more refinement -- more than it needs more file format suppport (or even password protection).

This is a beautiful product, both in appearance and functionality. Shortly after buying it I noticed a small aggravation (date format in auto titling used the "/" character which was then deemed unacceptable by the app when saving). I emailed the developer and received a response within hours that the problem was fixed and a new version submitted to the app store. Very satisfying. I recommend this app without reservation.

this app would be perfect if the user had the ability to adjust the placement of the 'books/notes' up and down for an extra touch of organization, and if it had password protection... wow!

I love the idea of importing documents from my computer onto the app. And its not just veiwing, i can also edit them! Just make sure you use the .txt files, not HTML. Really helps if your a writer, its like having everything you need everywhere you go. The landscape veiw feature helps so much, I can type almost as fast as I can on a real keyboard. It's perfect for everything I need, worth every cent!

I've been looking for a notes app that is functional but also simple and elegant. Notebooks is just that. You can organize books, inside them notes, and combine or email those notes. Access your notes quick and efficiently while it all looks good in the process. This is a striking and efficient notes app. Great job!

I'll admit I was hesitant to spend $6 on a notes app. I've tried many and some are ok but none really had everything I needed. I use notebooks for journaling, taking notes, making personal notes and lists, organizing documents, storing PDFs for later reading, and keeping track of everything I could ever possibly want at my fingertips 24/7. I'm a writer and also a bit OCD so I need an app that can handle an insane amount of notes and organize them extremely well. This app has all the features I was looking for: copy/paste, folders/categories, password protection for private files, landscape typing mode, changing text size for easier viewing, syncing with my computer (PC, Mac, and Linux), and works great as an email composer also. This is by far the best productivity app I've used.

I figured out how to add a notebook!!!! All you do is hold down the "add" button and then it let's you add a new notebook!! So now it gets 5 stars. I would give it a 4.5 star rating but you can't do that so I just rounded. It is totally worth 5 dollars.

I'm using it for creative and fiction writing while on the go. So far it's been the perfect tool... much better for me than the default Notes app... I really appreciate it's ability to organize my writiing into a heirarchy of notebooks as well as the landscape keyboard feature.

I recently switched from my Black Berry Bold to the Iphone 3G. The only thing that kept me from switching sooner was the fact I depend on the “Notes” feature in Outlook and the ability to sync my information. Given the fact that cannot been done on the Iphone, I was looking for a solution. The “Notebooks” app was my answer. Once I downloaded and took a little time to get myself familiar the features I was well on my way. I love the fact I can sync my information. Regarding syncing, I did find the Syndoc’s site a little confusing. I was actually making the download and function harder than it was. It would be nice to be able to download Syndoc right from the Notebook’s site. Finally, I also love the privacy option for books and notes…very nice. Bottom line, if you are willing to spend just a little time getting to know how this app works and if you were looking for something to replace Outlook Notes…this is even better!

It meets all of my obsessive compulsive note-taking needs. Some things I would love to see in future versions are; different page background colours and different book icon colours to choose from; different fonts, font colour, size and bold, italic, etc.. Perhaps even a picture adding feature to notes? Keep up the good work =) ! (Chrixter; You can always sort your notes your way by putting letters infront of each name. i.e. "A. Note, B. Note, etc.")

Amazing! I just wrote a review that didn't go through but I'll write another. This app is just what a writer needs. Great updates, great tool for keeping track if story lines or random ideas as they pop into your head through out the day! I love love love this app. This and stanza are my favorite itouch apps, hands down. And they do a great job with updates too!

I've tried a large number of note apps and this one combines all the features I couldn't get in one single app so far. One or two features were always amiss. In v 1.2 this app has copy and paste (implemented very well), search, im/export, and all the other standards of note applications. Not only that, the book/notes approach (notes can be part of and grouped together in a book) makes this the most "natural" note-taking app for me. Yes others feature this as well, but they don't provide this level of feature-depth (including copy & paste).

I tried different notebook applicaitons and this one is really good. Organizing your notes into different notebooks with different titles is easy. Jumping from one notebook to another notebook is also very easy. You can nest your notebooks and move your notes around anyway you like. The text is sharp and easy to read. You can edit any of your notes with ease. Good job with making this app.

Would give this 5 stars if I could password protect my notes.

This is the best notes program I have used. It does take some time to learn the cut and paste function and other functions. Help documents could be improved. Would be even better if there was a shortcut to insert bullet points. And to have them continue when you hit return.

Everything I expected and wanted. Would get the fifth star if you made the copied text when copy pasting highlighted it would be alot easier

This app is very useful, but I would like to have a way to protect my files from unwanted viewers with password protection. Otherwise this is a very good app.!

I don't know why this app seems to work wonderfully for some users but not for me. I cannot figure out how to nest books. It keeps crashing. It won't let me do a custom order. Neither the Website PDF or the FAQs are helpful. Wish I could get my$$$ back, or get some helpful help!!!

this application is great! a huge improvement from the standard notes application.

I have tried and tried, but cannot get connected. I wasted $5.00. I am using XP. And I am not turning off all security and firewall to make this work! Looks like a good program. I wish I could see it work. I think it would be nice to sync using USB. I need to plug in to charge and to connect to itunes!!

For journaling, blogging, writing a book, or simply taking and keeping organized notes, this works great. I've tried several others, but this one is better overall. The ability to nest and so organize notebooks is hands down the best feature. This opens up so many more uses that a flat structure simply can't scale to support. You can choose from a number of fonts for each note, which is great. That you can sync is a basic requirement. When you password protect an item, it's not even visible in the list of items until you enter your passcode. I like how that works. You hit the unlock button, then enter your passcode, and Notebooks enters the unlocked mode. Then all your protected items are visible and accessible freely until you hit unlock again to lock them back up and hide them. Very efficient. The landscape keyboard is quite a bit faster to type on for me because I hit the wrong letter less often and so have more confidence. Browsing notebooks in landscape is nice because you can see more of the title (first line) in the list (titles are chopped, not wrapped, in the hierarchy list). There are buttons to quickly add date and time, great for journal entries. You can sort a list of notes by name or date, and switch from ascending to descending. Or you can sort a list manually. All very nice. I wish it had a button to insert a bulleted or numbered list. I wish you could add a bit of space between paragraphs. Hope these can be added. I haven't used all the features yet, like syncing a doc, but I expect that will be very useful too. I tried this one last because it was the most expensive. I should have tried it first. None of the others I tried have nested notes, which is a must have to scale. If you write, try this app.

If I could only have ONE app on my iPod, well... this would be the one! I love the ability to organize my most necessary documents, and to be able to add notations whenever I'm out and away from my computer. The only update I'd ask for would be to be able to RENAME folders. Otherwise, this is a perfect five... and I don't give those out often!!

I wrote a review earlier this month and gave this App a very low rating because of recent problems with the App that caused the loss of weeks of work which I had stored in Notebooks. But I am now changing my rating to 3 stars. Once the problem's cause is definitively solved, I'll likely raise my rating again. This App was trustworthy for months and only recently developed a problem with deletion of notes and a book. When I contacted its developer, Alfons replied quickly and has made enormous efforts in pinpointing the problem and finding a solution. He seems very committed to making this a quality product, and also in helping those of us who use it. That, together with the App itself (without the recent problem) requires a higher rating. I have no doubt that Alfons will fix whatever bug has hatched, so that I can once again have full reliance on the stability of Notebooks. * * * * At first, I loved this app because its interface is so nice. I began using it heavily, for labor-intensive writing projects. Then, recently, an entire very lengthy project note disappeared. At first, I attributed it to a mistake I thought I must have made in accidentally deleting the note. But it has happened now FOUR times. I have figured out that the deletions occurred immediately after updating the app. I am out hours and hours of research and writing. This is UNACCEPTABLE and IRRESPONSIBLE. You cannot depend on this app AT ALL to keep your work secure. I am incredibly disappointed and very angry, as you can tell. I am now weeks behind in my projects as a result.

Installation was mostly straightforward. I don't remember it being mentioned that I needed to download and install a service on my MAC to get it to work. That install was simple, however, and within 15 minutes I had it up and running.

Dozens of apps on my iPhone, this is my first review... it’s that good.

This application has a very nice interface and a good user's manual available from the designer's web site. Generally, its clean in appearance and design--on the surface.
