Apple iPhone, Android get TeleNav OnMyWay app
Calendar16 Fri, 27 Aug 2010 00:00:00 UTC +00:00
Sadly, I often find myself in a real time crunch when I’m heading to meetings. I always seem to be about 10 minutes behind and have to frantically send out an e-mail approximating how long it will take me to get to a location. TeleNav is hoping to ease this pain with its new OnMyWay app for the Apple iPhone and Android. The OnMyWay app for Apple iPhone and Android lets you send a notification to a person or group about how long it will take for you to arrive. As you would expect from TeleNav, this is done by using your phone’s GPS. The Apple iPhone and Android app integrate with your phone’s address book to pull in your contacts. To make it work, you simply enter your destination, your schedule time and those you want to contact and the OnMyWay app does the rest. The app has been available Read More
TeleNav Unveils OnMyWay for Android | AndroidGuys
Calendar16 Fri, 27 Aug 2010 00:00:00 UTC +00:00
TeleNav is releasing another handy application, OnMyWay into the Android Market today. You know TeleNav, don't you?  They're the brains behind your Sprint and AT&T navigation titles. To describe their new (free) app's premise, I think it's best to use it in a short hypothetical scenario. Let's say you are on your way to a ten o'clock brunch meeting and you've got a an hour drive ahead of you. You start off on time, but later you find yourself stuck in traffic and it looks like you're going to be late. What's the best way to to let everyone know what time you'll actually get to the restaurant? You don't want to call everyone, do you?  And we all know better than to text while driving, right? OnMyWay does this for you. OnMyWay alerts a pre-set recipient or group of people as to your status and ETA. Set the notification right Read More
TeleNav’s helping to keep you safe on the road by automating your need to inform people you’re meeting with that you’re running late. The app’s name is OnMyWay and is being launched today in the Android market. The concept is simple (and quite frankly, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before): you enter your appointment details – including the date and time, the place, and the people you’re meeting with – and it’ll automatically notify those people if you’re running late with an estimated time of arrival calculated using GPS (though your coordinates aren’t shared with the recipients.) Head on over to the Android market now to check it out (1.6 and higher). Read More
Summary: TeleNav rolled out their Android and iOS versions of OnMyWay (already on BB) today. This is a GPS location notification utility that keeps meeting attendees updated on your status. I attended a TeleNav event a few months ago (still owe you all a write up of that) and one of the upcoming services we were shown is OnMyWay that was released today for the iOS and Android platforms for free. It has been available for BlackBerry devices since early this year and has been downloaded by tens of thousands of BB owners. As stated by TeleNav: OnMyWay is a simple-to-use notification application that automatically alerts a pre-determined person or group of people of the sender’s trip status and estimated time of arrival (ETA). Drivers can quickly set an OnMyWay notification prior to getting on the road and the application will automatically send travel time updates based on location to designated Read More
