The app is simple, but it does the job. I suggest the following enhancements:

A pretty good app but some very stupid features. No way to delete a trip so after 10 trips or so you have to scroll to see all future trips. After you create an entry you cannot edit it--you can only change the number of pieces. So if you want to change an item you must create a new one and delete the old one. You can reorder items but you cannot drag between categories. So if you want an item in another category, you have to retype it in and delete the old one.

I will be making my first over seas trip next month and this app has been essential in helping make a pretty daunting task easy. I e-mailed support with 2 questions and ... No Kidding....got a response in less than an hour with the answers to both question. Thanks Quinn!

Good start. Would be nice to have an entry to add the weight for each item and then have the app calculate the total.

Lists part is great, but we must have a way to print the list. Wife and children Need their copies. Just being able to e-mail this list to family or friends or ourself would allow us to print iit out and make this App a real must have! I hope you do this by Christmas as I leaving on two different kinds of trips.

I wrote an earlier review that said I was having trouble with the app crashing. I resolved the problem by shutting down my iPhone and restarting and have not had a problem since, which is why I have re-rated this app.

This is a great app if you've ever made a packing list. You can learn it quickly and it can easily be customised to fit your particular needs. It even makes re-packing a breeze when you're heading back home -- you won't leave anything behind if you check your list as you repack. I can specify not only the number of shirts I want to take but the colors or styles as well. The developer has been responsive to comments and feedback, too. This is one of my must-have apps and I love it!

I only wish this had been available a little sooner! I'm leaving on an international trip in the morning and I always feel like I'm forgetting something. The preset templates helped me remember things I never would have written down and most likely, would have forgotten to pack.

I will save $1.99 on my first trip since I won't have to replace anything that I left at home. This will also be great for packing lists for camping trips, travel, etc that don't happen often and always seem to end up with buying duplicate gear. A recent skiing trip is proof. I now own a 4th camelback...

After reading all reviews, I went ahead and purchased. So many of the requests have been taken care of. Email available, no trouble adding or deleting, very easy to navigate.

I travel a lot and have found this app invaluable. It's easy to use and reuse, and each update makes it more so. The application is simple to configure and change as needed. I have been able to dispense with years of printed lists. Overall, the convenience and simplicity is hard to beat. I would strongly recommend the app for anyone who travels.

With the newest update adressing every major concern I've seen about this app it is a five star application hands down!

Most of the gripes you'll read in many of the reviews have been fixed. Since the latest update (Feb 09) was rolled out, the program is now extremely customizable. You can change the master headings. You can drag items on your packing lists from one category to another. The list does not back out to the beginning after adding each item.

I travel a lot to different places requiring completely different clothing and gear....so I appreciate the ability to create different lists that I can keep ready to go. As far as the problems....I dont need to know that soap is for my "body" or toothpaste is for my "mouth". I would get rid of that field entirely and increase the font size. I also agree that there is entirely too much tapping to add something to your packing list. I would also like to see the the "quantity" field optional. I dont need to know how many Q-tips to take with me and its another thing that clutters up the screen. I'm also not crazy about the opening screen....more unecessary tapping. When I hit the icon, I want to go to the program....not another icon that I have to tap to get to where I want to go. I think this has a lot of potential and I would rather have something devoted to just packing lists, but as it stands right now its almost easier to get one of the free "to do" lists and create a list in there.

*UPDATE* PPLEASE give us the option to put items in the list and have it SAVED with the other items and PLEASEE make the font larger... Should be able to make/delete our own list and there's too much tapping and going back to put an item on your list. Should be able to put a drop down 'menu' from the list, if you are bringing more than one pair of jeans and describe SPECIFICALLY which jeans you're bringing for each item. Should be able to check off the items once by one if you gave morw than one of the same item and not all at the same time and make this optional. This should of been free!

...but I can't. I am cheesed off enough about not being able to delete the sample packing lists, which I have not, do not, and will not use, that I just can't. Let me control my own app, let me delete useless material, and I'd be willing to give this five stars.

just what i was looking for! it has been very helpful. would like to see a list with items for children, and a to do list....because things always need to be done prior to a trip.

Excellent and very useful for any type of travelling. Will pay for itself right away by preventing you from forgetting necessary items. Great support also!!!!

Nice concept, but crashes too much

Just a list you can edit. I have an excel spreadsheet that allows me to specify #days, type of trip, weather etc to generate a list for me. This app doesn't come close to replacing it

I am a list maker, and this app is an awesome tool for making travel plans. It's worth the $.

This is a great start, but it needs more options. 1. Allow the user to create another group in addition to Essentials, Gadgets, Clothing etc. I'm a diver and would like to put all my dive gear in a group if it's own. UPDATE FIXED THIS. 2. You allow the user to put in a custom category within a group, but you need to allow the master categories to be edited and added to. UPDATE FIXED THIS. 3. Allow the user to not show the categories. They take up too much space and in most cases are redundant. 4. Other developers have figured out how to provide sort options other than a manual sort. If you're going to charge for this app, then be professional enough to do the same. Update 12/20/08. This fixed the major issues I had with the app. Thanks.

I would LOVE if you could make it so I could use photos of the packed items. This could also be helpful if you luggage was lost or something stolen while on vacation.

Wonderful app! Well worth the money! I love the templates as a starting point and also love that you can delete what you don't want and add anything you want! Also love that you can email the list! Thanks for an awesome app!

I liked this program from the get-go. It was a tiny bit confusing to set up my own lists and to figure out the different layers to create a check off item. But I love the uncheck all capability and the fact I can reuse lists. This is perfect for my pre-travel check list of house chores which are routine and need to get done before I leave! Beats my to-do apps, as I can group and reuse my tasks more cleanly.

An excellent app. Tended like a bonsai tree by its developer, with a steady stream of THOUGHTFUL and MEANINGFUL updates always flowing. Each update allows more flexibility, a cleaner interface, and more intuitive functionality. I can't remember the last time I bought something for $1.99 and received such sustained, sterling attention from the vendor.

it's a great app! it's a must have for those who always forget to pack something. i just wish there was a sort function.

I thought this would be a fun and cute app. However, while I was entering my items, it crashed. Then I started all over again and it crashed. I lost all information that I entered. I didn't have it emailed as a back-up because I was still entering my packing list.

this is a great idea for i phone application but it didn't meet my expectations. . instead of making things simpler I find my packing become more complicated - this application is not easy to use and i can't find any help. Took me too much time trying to understand how it work and i am still not clear on it. i am giving up on this.... it is not something for me. . is there a way for me to get money back? :-(

The one thing this app needs is the capability to let users name categories. If that happens it will be five stars. The reviewer who says too much typing is too stupid to believe. How do you type "passport," for instance, other than "p-a-s-s-p-o-r-t?" Actually, though, most templates include that. So, you don't even have to type it unless you want to. It's a good app. Just needs that one improvement.

Please allow the user to edit and add new master categories. I like to organize my packing lists based on the suitcases I'm loading (I.e. Carry-on, garment bag, etc.). The pre-existing categories (essentials, clothing, etc.) don't work for me and make me have to kluge the list.

Having switched from a Palm to the iPhone (and therefore lost the packing list in Worldmate), I was hoping that this app would fill the gap. It does have a few nice features, like the ability to key in a quantity for each item (like 4 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes etc), but the app's overall look (rather amateur-looking) and ease of navigation (tough) still need improvement. Having bought the app I'll probably reinstall it from time to time to see if I'll like it better. Meanwhile, a simple list in Lists Free serves as a workable alternative for me.

Please make it possible to email or Dow load into excel!!

I travel a lot and thought this could be useful but it absolutely is not. I just make a list in my notes app of what I need..it's much faster and a lot less hassle and I get to do it my way. This thing is done in a very specific way so your brain needs to function in a specifically compatible OCD way for this to work for you. I'd rather buy gum!

When I shopped for a packing list app, I chose this one because it seemed most similar to my existing system (using spreadsheets). While the prepared templates weren't all that useful, the basic structure of the catalog and the customizability meant that -- with only one false start -- it was a near-perfect match for how my brain works. I've used it for camping trips, for academic conferences, for personal travel, and for some rather idiosyncratic hobby-related activities that were never dreamed of in the existing master catalog. Being the sort of person who doodles packing lists in the margins of meeting agendas for weeks in advance of a trip, this app fits nearly seamlessly into my working style.
