[app] 360 Panorama – der Rundumblick
Calendar16 Wed, 01 Dec 2010 20:38:30 UTC +00:00
‘‘ (2.39 €; App Store-Link) oder ‘You Gotta See This!‘ (1.59 €; App Store-Link) verfolgen Read More

Homescreens – August 2010
Calendar16 Mon, 16 Aug 2010 11:59:02 UTC +00:00
Read More
By Allyson Kazmucha, Thursday, Jul 29, 2010 | As you all know by now, we’re still watching for iOS4 updates that crop up in the app store, and as always, if you guys see interesting ones, feel free to let us know.  Here’s the ones we found in the last week or so, and if you haven’t checked for updates, go check that update tab and let us know if you caught something we didn’t! Osfoora has taken the place as my favorite Twitter client (for now anyways). They received an iOS4 update we covered a few weeks back, but this one is even better. It adds full retina display support for the iPhone 4 and boy is it pretty. The whole app got somewhat of a facelift as well. The text really pops and the main menus have been revamped. So if you haven’t updated, go for it, or if Read More

Pano is a popular panoramic photo app from Debacle Software that has earned 4 and 5 star reviews world wide and it’s available now at a reduced price of $0.99 for a limited time only. Pano is a great way to snap panoramic shots on your iPhone, it intelligently stitches up to 16 photos together using a slick UI that won a ‘Best Apps of 2009′ award from Apple. The photos produced by this app are nothing short of impressive and the ease at which you can take them, using the semi-transparent guide, is unbelievable. Debacle Software's Pano app has been a photo favorite since the App Store opened in 2008. The Toronto-based development team announced that they've shipped version 4.0 of the app, with new and improved features (a recent scaling update has since bumped it to version 4.0.1). As we've discussed before here at TUAW, Pano lets you take panoramic photos with your iPhone camera by giving you a semi-transparent guide to help you align adjacent shots. You can even take 360° panoramic photos if you so desire; it just takes a steady hand and sixteen photos. Once you've taken all of your individual photos, Pano stitches them together to make a seamless photo like the one you see above (which I took in Miami, FL). The new version of the software not only speeds up the process of aligning and blending your photos together, but sports an improved user interface as well. If Read More
What's on your iPhone, Steve Sande?
Calendar16 Mon, 12 Apr 2010 16:30:00 UTC +00:00
is a new TUAW series that we'll run occasionally so you can see what the bloggers at your favorite Apple site are running on their pocket devices. This was suggested by one of our readers, who wanted to know just what kind of stuff we had on our iPhones. Since we're a group of individuals who all think a bit differently, it makes a lot of sense to have each of the bloggers in turn write up a short blurb on their favorite apps. In this post I'll list those apps that deserve special attention, but to see all of the apps that I currently have on my iPhone 3GS, you'll need to take a look at the gallery at the end of the post. To start with, you'll find that I have a lot of camera apps. In nearly three years, I've used my iPhones to take literally thousands of Read More
TUAW review: Create perfect self-portraits with Self Image
Calendar16 Tue, 16 Feb 2010 22:00:00 UTC +00:00
How many times have you tried to take a picture of yourself or you and a buddy with your iPhone, only to end up with your face well out of the frame? The folks who brought you the fun panoramic photo app, Pano, have just delivered their latest creation to the App Store -- Self Image is now available for just US$.99. Self Image uses sophisticated face-detection algorithms to let the iPhone camera know when it has a face or two in the field of view, at which time it begins a countdown to get you ready for a photo. The app is simple to use -- you launch it, press a button marked with a "1" if you're taking a photo of yourself, "2+" if taking a photo of yourself with a friend or two, or "self-timer" if you want to just take a photo with a self-timer. If you're Read More

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of iPhone photography apps. I've written about Best Camera, played with ColorSplash, and taken panoramic photos with Pano. When I noticed the $1.99US Lo-Mob [iTunes Link] while doing my weekly pass through the photo apps, I decided to buy it and give it a try. Part of my fascination with iPhone photo apps is that the flexibility of the software combines with the camera that is always at your fingertips, and you can do things with your photos with a few taps that would have taken hours in a darkroom. Lo-Mob provides 33 different effects that give your iPhone pics the look of taking photos with old film, instant film, 35 mm film in a medium-format camera, and more. With many of the effects, changes with saturation, focus, and tint are mixed with artifacts (dust on the frame, for example), vignetting, and frames. Read More

Five Apps for the art lover
Calendar16 Mon, 10 Aug 2009 15:30:00 UTC +00:00
I haven't always loved art. During my life, I went through a phase where I think my engineer / logical-brain kicked the artist brain out of the nest. Now my wife and I are avid art collectors, and I'm writing this while on our annual tour of Santa Fe, New Mexico art galleries. The picture above is a panorama taken on August 6th from the Santa Fe Opera House using the outstanding Pano app for iPhone. As part of our continuing Five Apps series, I decided to take on the challenging task of finding five applications for Mac and iPhone that would be useful to the art lover or collector. Read on for my take on the cream of the art crop. #1 -- The first is an iPhone app simply called Art [App Store, US$0.99]. Art is a pocket compendium of the best works by 80 great artists and includes Read More
[app] Pano - Panorama-Photos
Calendar16 Mon, 13 Apr 2009 16:12:14 UTC +00:00
Read More

Excellent app for the price!
Pinhole Maker 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have purchased both Pano and Panorama. Personally I feel the image quality of Panorama is slightly better. I did about 10 side by side panos and Panorama's quality was slightly better every time (when viewed closely in photoshop). Panorama seems to use more overlap to construct their panormas, which creates a more seamless appearance. However, I did like Pano's interface better because of the transparency edge for lining up the images. Also it requires less button pushing to create the final image. To the casual observer the quality of both programs is very close. Considering the price difference and the interface it's hard not to recommend Pano, however for me the higher quality of the images (more seamless) created in Panorama will keep it on my phone rather than Pano. I will definitely check back when updates are released. I am amazed at how well both of these apps are able to create excellent images! You should note that due to the limitations of the iphone's mail program the finished panoramas will be sent via email at 800px wide. However, If you import them from from the phone into iphoto they end up at about 2600 px wide.
I love it
WouldUdoit 5.0 stars Version: 3.0
This app does a gr8 job and is a gr8 price. That other one costs too damn much and has no transparent helper. Screw that. I feel the quality is really quite acceptable for an iPhone app. The pic comes out comparable to what the built in cam produces. Their FAQ page is really helpful. Check it out before you buy. Just click on the support link on this exact page. What's also neat is that they have a flikr group set up already. The FAQ will link you. There you can see examples of the pics it produces. Remember to click on the large image link. But even the large is half the full resolution you'll get I believe. You won't regret your purchase. Just keep in mind it won't come out any better than what the cam is capable of and how good you are at taking pictures.
Lots of Fun & Easy to Use!!
WKurtz 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Wow was I impressed!! I was goofing around looking for some fun apps to add to my phone. I rarely, if ever, use my phone to take pictures, but this application has got me addicted. The stitching is pretty good and it handles differences in exposures from one picture to another very well. My one complaint is that after you take a picture, you cannot save it and immediately take another. You have to quit the application and restart. Hopefully this will be added in future version, but for me this a a very inexpensive application that is a lot of fun, easy to use, and has tremendous results.
Not as good as Panorama app...
greenldr79 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
First the good: Pano is less expensive than "Panorama" app (also available in the App Store), and it has a semi-transparent alignment guide that Panorama lacks.
Raises photography on the iPhone to a whole new level
Tomas2012 5.0 stars Version: 3.0
This app is just plain fun! I've tried both panorama apps and (at this point) I prefer this one. It is incredibly intuitive and has a transparent overlay which makes getting successive pictures started a cinch. It's amazing the level of quality and accuracy that can be achieved using this little program, and raises photography on the iPhone to a whole new level. It has proven extremely stable on the 3G thus far.
OMG, It's What You've Been Waiting For!!! Idiot Proof (almost) Panorama Shots with iPhone 5 Stars!

Phantastic Photo App

I tried this App today and could not believe the stunning result: that app just works! It is extremely simple to use and gives exactly what it promises. Would be great to get more pics but we shall see what comes up. Thanks for the great work!! mk
Good Deal!
Old13 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
WOW, This sucker really works! So glad I tried it.
Makes The Cam Fun
chindogu 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Frankly, the on-board camera has been a bit of a yawn. Pano has injected some much needed purpose and fun - I actually enjoy using the camera now when making panos. The application was well designed for casual use. It's very easy to snap a series of images and then see the result. The transparent guide makes lining up neighboring images super simple and stitching usually yields acceptable results. Performance is a bit slow, but this may be due to the laggy shutter on the camera. Great lil' app.
Very very cool!
jaimieartist 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The stitching and blending process that this App. does is very amazing and would save you quite a bit of time in Photoshop cleaning. It's very good.

I wanna marry my iphone
Neededtoread 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I read the reviews and was very skeptacle on this app. I bought it and every time crashed on me. I emailed support and they promptly responded. They gave me an answer I could have found on my own if I wasn't a rookie at this thing. I think for a gadget this iPhone thing is this is an unbelivable program to have. Now I don't have to carry my digital camera with me to my jobs I take pics of. It's all done here now, emailing instantly as well. The support group is honestly the best I have ever had experience with. This is way too easy to use and pic quality is amazing. Thanks to the developers for this great app.
Buy it - it does what it says excellently!
Steve Drake 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love it. And I've only used it once, for a tough forest shot, with the light at my back washing out the iphone screen, but I was able to frame the shots well, and the stitching process made the joints invisible. The finished product is incredible! Well worth the small price. Thanks!
Love it
Ridestrt 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Makes surprisingly good panoramas I was pleasantly surprised. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because they are no options or adjustments on the photos.
Amazing
dromnicom 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is an awesome app, definitely a must-have for any iPhone user. Can't recommend it more highly. I have taken some amazing shots with it - people are stunned at the quality and scope. It's a no-brainer; buy it already.
Great app but needs ability to use existing photos
Kiggles 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very good for fast and attractive results. Needs ability to use existing library photos. Also, the pictures the program outputs don't display properly in landscape in the Facebook app's photo viewer. Other than these minute issues, the panoramas this app produces are extremely impressive.
Love it.
Isbeorn 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works great. I love it. If you are having trouble with crashes just reboot your phone. The app uses alot of memory to merge images, a quick power cycle will clear up some memory.
The best photo app out there!
iJohnw 5.0 stars Version: 3.0
You cannot get any better than this program for the camera! Beautiful pics and easy to use!
Crashed Everytime ! FIXED !
Tigerider 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
AFTER TURNING OFF "PHOTO NOTE " PANO WORKED PERFECTLY !
Works great!
MusicFan1975 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love this, works great. Pictures look amazing (for an iPhone camera) Works amazingly well, with the ability to take 4 shots and merge is amazing. How do it do it? Well worth the $2.99 in my opinion, haven't tried the other one cause it's too expensive.
Is This a Real Panoramic App?
Hume2 2.0 stars Version: 3.0
It seems to me that this app doesnt' really stitch the pics together as you would expect in a panoramic app, rather it just butts them into each other and blurs the line between them. Using the tips, holding the camera steady, overlapping sufficiently between shots, etc doesn't seem to produce a real panoramic shot. Am I missing something or is everyone all fired up about butting pics together? A real panoramic app would recognize and line up objects in the overlapping shots, and blend them into each other...
Bad Resolution
maltepost2 3.0 stars Version: 3.0
Nice App, but the Resolution of the Pics is still too bad for a "usefull" Panorama! Why don´t you implement the original 1200px height (2 MP) of the iphone? PLEASE!!!
Save your money
Nanook31 ooy 1.0 stars Version: 3.0
Not worth it you have to do all the work
3.0
baumgc 3.0 stars Version: 3.0
I can tell there is something special here, but the app crashes upon taking the first photo in 3.0. Sadness.
Works on my 3GS!
Tesseract 5.0 stars Version: 3.2
Installed, then rebooted the phone. Took 2 panos of 7 shots apiece & it worked great! Was really worried based on other's reviews on their 3GS, but so far mine is working flawlessly! I pull the resulting pano in my Photogene app to sharpen the pic, adjust the contrast & levels & tweak the color balance. The results are awesome! I can't speak for anyone else's experience on their 3GS, but mine is working fine with no crashing as others have reported. Don't know if it matters, but i'm running it under iPhone OS 3.01
