This is a nice app, hopefully just a beginning with a few add-ons soon. This is nice for someone who is new to advanced photography, like me, and I will put it to use. I have actually started my own photo-taking notes in my Notes app, and I think it would be great for you to add a custom field at the end of each page for us to add in our own specific notes for each situation you describe, such as what worked and what did not. I would also appreciate a section on each page for "suggested" camera settings (or range of settings) that is consistent in format on each page, perhaps at the very beginning or end, since you describe some pretty specific situations in the app. Of course, we all have to tweak that on our own, but that would be great for someone like me right now. I like your composition tips and can't wait to try some you mentioned there. Web links back to some photo examples that you or others have taken would be a really nice add-on, maybe even to a Flickr group to link back to by category there from each page. I really appreciate your efforts here and hope you will consider taking this app from good to great, in the eyes of a newbie like me.

I have been looking for something kinda like this. An app that gives some photography tips, what I really like are the catagories the tips are in for easy and quick refrence.

App is OK, but would not have bought it, If I had a sample of what it was. Alot of Tripod mode and no true manual mode shooting. Has many scene situation settings on a generic setting. Good basic App for someone who has no clue on what ISO, Aperture or Shutter mean! Give them a reference point to work with. App needs to have a flexible ISO, Aperture, Shutter and Exposure tool "along with lighting envirement" to truly be get the best possible picture! I only got App because it had a great rating on it.

The part I use the most is the notes of your own you can add. Recommended for people that have a point and shoot camera and have always been using it on auto.

This application has some really nice features. I especially like the 'Typical Settings' page - for each of the different categories, this tells you at what level to set the aperture, shutter speed, ISO level, etc, which is great for a beginner like me. There's also some really good content in the Tips section, like ideas for how to frame your shots, and typical problems that can occur for that category. I like this a lot. Speaking of categories, there is a LOT, pretty much anything you might want to take a photo of. Finally there is also an Essentials section which goes over some different aspects of photography, like explaining what aperture means, and so on. There's also a My Notes section but I have not used this yet, looks fairly standard though. The only thing I can think of that would be useful for a future version are more sample pictures to give some ideas. Otherwise, 5 stars!

I always liked taking photos. Sometimes my photos came out good sometimes really bad even though I imagined them differently. After looking through the app I realized why the pictures I took in some specific situations(described in the app) didn't end up being too good... Hopefully now with this great source of portable information my photos will get better in any situation. I definitely recommed this app.

Some of us starting out in slr land find it overwhelming. This app makes photography real fun and brings it to a level where we can all enjoy it. Thank you as I've been waiting for an app like this. Well organized and easy to use.

Great App! I just bought a Nikon D60 an didn't know much about how to use it and this app helped alot! I learned more from this app then on my photography class

App is only recommended if your new to digital photography. Would not recommend for anyone that has a basic understanding of photography. Provide common sense advice i.e. Advice for shooting at the beach, "...remember that the light is probably bright." would not recommend to a friend.

I'm glad I purchased this app; it has helped immensely fine tune my photographs. I highly recommend it. 

I just got this app fer my mom and from what I see it looks awesome I dos look see total catagories and read all info on pets an I must say looks awesome from here great job an hope to see updates

This app could be five stars with one update. The screen shots advertising the app don't show what the app actually looks like. I hope they are advertising an update. I would like to see an example gallery for each situation. There are lots of situation examples by the way.

This is a great app for daytime shots only. I would like to see tips for shooting in low light, nighttime, or with a flash.

I would consider myself a advanced enthusiast, by no means am I a professional but there was nothing in here that I didn't already know. It is an excellent reference for beginners but if you know anything about the manual modes of the camera then you should already know most of the info in this app. The settings used are very generic, hopefully they update this app to show a range of shooting from beginner to advanced settings.

As others have pointed out, if you are an expert photographer this app would be of little help. But for beginners, it is a great set of tutorials for shooting in varing situations. Very well done!

If, like me, you are a hobbyist photographer this application will be invaluable to you. To be able to have all this photographic information on the iPhone is brilliant......I no longer have to take along a reference book!...the information in this app is pretty comprehensive and will get you well on your way to taking great images with a full understanding of how to do it.....well worth the price......

This is a very good app for anyone wanting to move towards using the creative settings on your digital camera. The information is displayed well and written in english (non camera expert language). I'm no expert, but this is a good tool to help me grow in knowledge and experience. Additional 'manual only' typical settings would be nice, but it does not detract from the overall value of the app.

This app has greatly improved my photography, way more than any book. The new tip sharing section lets you read and vote for other peoples tips which is cool, and there are also lots of built-in tips. There's also a typical settings section to suggest what settings your camera should be on for each of the many categories. Probably best for beginners/intermediates who have a DSLR or a compact, rather than pros, but for those who aren't pro I'd say this app is a MUST.

I LOVE this app. It gives lots of advice/tips to those along all sides of the spectrum. Whether you're an amateur or pro. And I love that the developers updated it to include a notes section in each of the categories so that one may add their own thoughts on that particular category. I recall someone requesting that. Now THAT'S what i call customer service. My only gripe is that i wish there was a way to add our own categories; for example I want to a food section, or model photog, or nude photog so that ideas I come across I may store all of them in this app. For now, I'm stuck with Notes...*blah.... [UPDATE] 2/2/10 I must say, I wish all the companies I came across in life were this customer oriented. Keep up the good work Aspyre!! I got nearly all the *extra* things I needed and more!! This app is definitely a much needed app for beginners and advanced beginners. Nothing short of 10 stars!

This app is a beautiful well designed app with a plethora of photography references. As a novice photographer I found this app to be very resourceful and informative. The app is very easy to navigate and the information contained within is more valuable than the $2.99 the app sales for. I have purchased several photography reference books and have spent well over $100 and they're not as exhaustive in their coverage as is this app. If you are a novice photographer or even interested in photography this app is highly recommended.

Photocaddy is like having a great photography book in your hand always. The app explains everything from the basic terminology of photography to adding professional touches to your pics. It also has a way of adding my own notes the already present tips to enhance your learning. I bought this app a couple of days ago and learnt quite a lot about how to take better photos in this short time. If you are looking to improve your photography, I sure there is no better app in the appstore than this.

This is a great and useful app. The icon image should be changed though. Not very catchy.
