Slow, incomplete but OK grapher

I am a HS math teacher and this is NOT yet equivalent to a TI-83, but it is a good start. It is missing just about all the items in the "Math" menu button in the TI most freq. used by my students, esp. "nDeriv" and ">Frac". The grapher is slow: type in an equation, hit Graph and count to 5 slowly before anything happens. But once it graphs, a big plus is that you can move the window around at will without the cumbersome "window" menu on the TI-83, so PI-83 is superior in that regard. I also really like the "trace" function. Finding zeros and intersections seemed to work well on the functions I tried. There is no "table" command, however. You can find one y for a given x, but it only will display one ordered pair at a time rather than the convenient table given by the TI-83.

I have been hoping for someone to come up with an iphone version of the Ti-83 ever since i got my iphone! These guys seem to have it all in this app, my only issue with it is the buttons could be a bit too small for someone with large finger tips like me. i haven't had too much trouble with that though, and with all the options available it easily makes up for the small design flaw. I already tested as many of the functions in the phone as i could with my old Algebra 1 and 2 books and every answer has been spot on! My favorite part is when you create a graph, you can drag it around with your finger to view every part of the graph in real time. This is the main part where the PI-83 is a HUGE improvement over the original TI-83. Good Job Guys!

When I saw this app i was skeptical. I wondered if it was worth it... IT WAS!! It does everything of the ti-83 and with more frequent updates im sure will move to do the things of the ti-84. Now I can get rid of the graphing calculator app and put this one right along math solver :) ***For those who need cubic roots do the following with X as your #. X^(1/3). Just use the recipricol of your desired root number in the parenthesis.

I mostly use my TI-83 at work to calculate averages and compare results, so the 8-line display on my TI-83 is necessary to do that.. I appreciate the ability on this app to not only view that multi-line display but also the ability to scroll the display beyond the 8-lines I currently use.. I am looking forward to the big button update as the buttons on this app are indeed small (and I currently don't use many of the functions for my needs).

Despite it's flaws, the best graphing calculator on the app store so far. I'm giving five stars now, knowing there'll be improvements. Two things I'd love to see though... First, hitting "up" should paste in the last expression I entered. That would be very useful. Second, I realize the stats menu is already crowded, but it would be wonderful if you could implement the normal, t, F, and chi-square distributions! Functions to find p-values and t- and z-scores would be great! Maybe making a separate statistics and probability menus as you implement more distributions.

It works great, I love it. Buttons are kind of small and it crashes on occasion but it graphs even faster than my ti84. Maybe make it so that when the application closes it temporarily saves your data so if it crashes or you accidently close it, you still have your graphs/ equations. Edit: still needs graphing inequalities, and everything still listed above. Will bump back to 5 stars when I see some change.

Crashes A LOT and want a manual

I really wish the online documentation (manual) would happen, and also FIX THE CRASHING PLEASE!!! i have found that the app tends to crash when the screen starts to scroll due to various computations and sometimes when graphing. i'm sure there are loads of functions that are missing, however as a student i haven't come across many (once i was informed how to do nth roots). i like the Natural Log being labeled LOG and the LOG base 10 button being labeled just that (LOG with a subscripted 10). one other thing i would love to see is the ability to edit computations that were input wrong giving an error solution. sometimes it's a royal pain to have to reenter a long equation because of a missed parens. or whatever.

This is one of the best calculator on itunes. I bought all of the more expensive ones here on iTunes and this one is the best for everyday average users. Don't bother to waste money on the other ones. It has everything! Unbelievable. The other ones are very stupid and hard to use. Almost all of them don't even have the +/- sign to do the calculation. How can that be??? I used the other ones in my Business Calculus class and messed up bad on my answers. Kudos for the makers of this one for making it affordable for the masses. Thank you. Keep up the good work. The input numbers can be a littlbe bigger for ease of use, otherwise, it's been pretty good so far.

Has potential, but...

First of all, thanks, this app got me through my science lab today. Unfortunately, a couple of issues keep this from being a five star app. One, the responsiveness is not very good, I found it taking much longer than it should to input simple equations. The big button update should help this, perhaps. Secondly, and more importantly, this app crashed hard while performing some simple math, necessitating a hard reset of my iPhone. However, for $0.99, I don't mind testing this app, and I recommend anyone to give it a try at this price. There is a lot of potential here.
