When I first started using PicPlz for Android there were a couple of things that I didn’t necessarily dig. The first of these, the inability to remove location data from photos, was fixed in the last update. Now, according to the PicPlz blog, the latest update fixes my next gripe — notifications. Previously, if you turned on a notification, you’d get both an email and a message to your phone. I asked Dalton Caldwell if that could be changed and it appears that my wish has been granted. Now, email and push notifications are separate from one another and PicPlz continues to win my heart. The team appears to have been hard at work building out some features and requests that its users have had and today the Android fans get the love. As detailed in the PicPlz blog, the biggest thing that you’ll immediately notice is that there’s a completely new UI for the app. Beyond that though, PicPlz can now fully use all of your camera’s functions, including white balance and focus modes. It helps to realise how this works, you create an account on picplz where photos you take can be edited and stored. It links to other social media Facebook/twitter etc and posts links back to Picplz, they do NOT transfer to those photo albums. By defualt it follows other picplz accounts that are owned by people on you follow on Fbk etc. This may be where jen is getting unsuitable material popping up in her network (Untick this option when signing up) - usefull when FB/Twit apps wont work on some wifi

Pros: 1. Pushes to Mixi. The first English-language camera app I've seen do that. 2. Lets you do a lot more than just add hipster filters. 3. Lets you edit pics already on your phone. Cons (minor, IMHO): 1. Some filters are a lot more subtle when viewed on the PC than on the phone. 2. The "save a filtered copy" is a bit confusing at first. Not sure if pro or con: 1. does not have a built-in camera or gallery app of its own. 2. I can't have it just crawl my Facebook and tell me who's also a picplz user. What I'd like to see: 1. A color exclusion filter, so I can make the picture all black-and-white except for one color. The sliders in the existing color section don't do that as well as I'd hope, but are great as they are for other effects.
