New iPhone, iPad and Android Apps for January 2012
Calendar16 Wed, 08 Feb 2012 19:00:00 UTC +00:00
As a video platform, Vimeo has always played second fiddle to YouTube. Yet, Vimeo does attract a more professional grade of videographer and often the contents of Vimeo are much more polished than the much uploaded to YouTube from millions of would-be Internet stars. Vimeo finally has a new app for iOS and Android and it is everything you would expect from the platform in terms of quality video and performance. Users can view videos, manage their accounts and upload all from one app. The Android version of Vimeo requires 2.3 Gingerbread or above. Producteev (Free - iOS, Android) Talk about cross-platform. Producteev is a task manager available for Macs and Windows PCs, iOS and Android, IM and email. It is basically everywhere. As a task manager, one of its best features is the ability to work offline so you can access your tasks and projects from everywhere. Imagine being an Read More
posted by Trey Trawick on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 2:47 pm.   Plex has updated both their iOS and desktop applications, bringing a whole suite of enhancements to the XBMC-based media center application. The team has released an incredibly awesome feature called myPlex, which allows users who have a dedicated Plex media server to stream music, movies and TV shows directly to their iOS device over the internet. From the myPlex website, it is possible to “share” a server with friends so they can access the media from anywhere—as long as there is a strong WiFi connection. Sure beats the heck out of syncing mp4s through iTunes. Everything has changed. Except the icon. You will love the new iOS application. It starts faster, connects faster, resumes faster, and is much more stable than the last version. Here is a list of the most visible changes: As I hope you can see, this Read More
Plex 2.0 ramps up video streaming
Calendar16 Tue, 01 Nov 2011 15:00:00 UTC +00:00
[Updated to clarify version numbering. iOS Plex app is at 2.0, Mac app is at 0.9.5 or 0.9.5.1 beta.] Plex is an advanced Media Server that runs on your Mac and manages and distributes your audio and video to other computers, a connected TV and your iOS devices via the Plex iOS app. The Plex family of free apps has just upgraded the iOS and server clients with a streamlined GUI and new features like sharing between Plex users. Other new features include user-scalable subtitles and significant speed improvements. A new cloud-based component lets Plex users access their home media from any PC or Mac without complicated logins or IP addresses. The service is free, but requires a sign up. Plex fills a nice gap for Apple fans since the company nuked the Front Row player. Of course, Plex does a great deal more than Front Row ever hoped to do, Read More

Liebes -Team, my.plexapp.com ist ganz großes Kino. Danke! Read More
Media Center erreicht Version 1.1 seiner iOS-Software (3.99 €; universal; App Store-Link). Gut so.
Plex 1.1 for iOS adds functionality, interface changes
Calendar16 Sat, 09 Apr 2011 20:30:00 UTC +00:00
Put simply, Plex version 1.1 is everything that FrontRow should be. For a start, it streams to your iDevice, presents plenty of online media ... you get the idea. The only advantage FrontRow has is price, and at US$4.99 Plex probably won't break the bank. The latest version includes many new and updated features, like improved subtitle and audio stream selection support, Direct Streaming and Direct Play support. One interesting addition is TV out and AirPlay support, though the latter is still "experimental," which suggests less-than-optimal performance. Plex 1.1 also offers much improved live encoding. For example, Plex 1.1 will note what your Apple TV 2 can manage and only convert what needs to be converted, leaving other streams intact. Plex 1.1 is available from the App Store now for $4.99. Also, grab Plex for Mac to enjoy video, music, pictures and more. Have fun, media buffs! Read More
Plex for iOS Gets Major 1.1 Update, Improvements Abound
Calendar16 Fri, 08 Apr 2011 12:56:29 UTC +00:00
Posted 04/08/2011 at 4:56am | by J.R. Bookwalter The Plex Media Server has converted many a Mac into a home theatre giant, serving up movies, TV shows and music straight from the computer to the television. Now, the first major update to the iOS version aims to improve the experience on your mobile device as well. Plex, Inc. released version 1.1 of their $4.99 universal Plex iOS client on Thursday, and it’s a doozy -- particularly on the iPad. The developers aren’t joking when they call this a “major” new update with “many awesome new features,” so here’s a look at what you can expect. Plex on the iPad is now a whole new experience, thanks to a “greatly improved look and feel” with “beautiful grid views.” An enhanced remote control for the iPad also brings volume buttons and landscape support as well. Since Plex for iOS is a universal app, Read More
[zubehör] Apple AV-Kabel (Komponentenvideo)
Calendar16 Thu, 14 Oct 2010 07:41:30 UTC +00:00

TUAW's Daily App: Plex
Calendar16 Tue, 31 Aug 2010 15:00:00 UTC +00:00
Plex's big tease last week turned out to not be an Apple acquisition, but instead a big release, of both a rewritten Mac client to keep all of your media together in one place, and also a brand new iOS app, available now on the App Store for $4.99. Sure, the app's a little pricey, but if you use the new Plex as your media center, it's actually a must buy -- not only does it work as a remote control, but you can actually stream media from your Plex library directly to your iPhone or iPad from wherever you are. And with a little more tweaking (you need to have the server running and know how to set up port forwarding on your router), you can even stream Plex content out over 3G, so no matter where you are with your iOS device, you can watch anything stored on your Read More
[iOS-App] Plex (+Video)
Calendar16 Tue, 31 Aug 2010 10:49:15 UTC +00:00
Egal. Wenn die Read More

Reviews

Best. App. Ever.
Jeppy19 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Here is my review: Plex is smart, will find all your media, tag it with a kajillion different types of metadata and then stream all of that to your iDevice. I just started watching Avatar on my iPhone, then decided the iPad would be better. I just hit Done on my phone and started up the app on the iPad, navigated to the movie, and it knew right where I had left on my phone. Basically, if you have a Mac and any sort of media at all, you need this.
My movie collection is now portable.

Plex on my tv is really nice. NOW I can take those movies on the road through a series of tubes on the Internet right into the palm of my hand without syncing things to my ios devices. I've already watched a tv show right here in bed and it was everything I thought it would be. Kudos Plex team.
Best Mac/iPad/iOS media streamer
Bankheadpsc67 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This one is the best you guys. If you install it on your Mac, it will tag all of your movies *automatically* with beautiful poster art, large hi-res backgrounds and a media center that rivals XBMC. I love the quality of the wireless streaming on my iPhone. On my iPad it looks outstanding and is easy to use. Your beautiful tags and cover art transfer over to the iPhone and IPad respectively. One last thing worth mentioning... This program will stream HD videos from Vimeo and other online sites. This program is really great they did such a well done job they deserve the 5 dollars.
Amazing

Well worth the wait. Streams over 3G and wifi with no problems. You need to know how to port forward if you want to stream from outside your home network. Took me 2 minutes to setup. Absolutely terrific.
