The developers of the popular Plex media center software for computers have released an Android app that lets you stream media from your from your computer to a mobile device. The Android app follows an iOS app which was released about half a year ago. While the iOS version lets you use your iPhone or iPad as a remote control for your Plex media center computer, the Android app lacks this feature for now. Works on N1, force closes on everything else I have to set the sync to 300ms for the sound to be in sync, otherwise the sound/voices are noticably desynced. It runs on the nexus one and iPhone 3g, but on my Captivate and Nook Color, it force closes the second it starts the video. Also, when enabling security login, I cannot login via mobile on all of my devices. Disabling login works, but makes it insecure.. Will rebuy when everything is stable and the Windows server comes out...

Impressive streaming content solution I've been a user of XBMC (& MediaPortal/Boxee/Plex) since before there was an XMBC. This app is great streaming content over wifi or 3G/4G. I've connected using my G2 and the image quality is more than acceptable for on the go viewing. It would be even better if it could handle playback of local content as well. I look forward to the additional enhancements which will surely be provided over time.

I had Playon, but after I bought the new Huawei M835 from metropcs, Playon needed Adobe flash and was not supported by MetroPCS..I found this app and it streams everything from my PC plus some other plugins ! Good but a lot of bugs This app is cool, It works well for videos, it doesn't work so well for dvd and isos, Sometime the program just freezes -> black window nothing helps but desinstall/reinstall I love the UI, Would love to see the features : - iso and dvd with menu support, - Use the tv tuner or webcam if available on the server, - caching of a media: eg I am planning a trip, I want to put a pin on some movies/music that I would like to watch when I am offline (transcode server side then send to the device automatically)

needs update I love the premise of this app, but it has two big issues: 1) Fast forward is very buggy. Sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. Definitively not as smooth as my dlna sources. 2) You cant multitask in android. If you leave the video (even paused), it usually crashes and/or you have to restart the video. Note: Im running this in honeycomb on my Asus Transformer.

No video on Suli MY-7 tablet Same problems here on the Suli tablet as with the Samsung Galaxy S 2 - audio only, no video, unless you go to wifi settings during playback, then go back to Plex and resume playback, each time you play a video. Having done that, it works well. For tnis device, as it stands, two stars only. Five stars once the bug is fixed! Google will show the Suli MY-7 specs if developers want to know more. Mine is "stock", no mods.

Doesn't work on a lot of 2.3 phones Head over to the forum an you'll see this doesn't display any video on a lot of 2.3 devices. The devs are not at all helpful and just copy'n'paste the same answer "send us a logcat" then when you do, they don't come up with any answers. Too busy working on the iOS version I expect. Shame as it could be good, at the moment its just an expensive remote control app.

Great app! But... Plex is an amazing app! Access to all my Movies and TV on the go and remotely from other places with Wi- Fi. Picture quality and sound is flawless! It is brilliant. But... It is a little buggy sometimes. Beyond that, it's great. Can't go wrong for £3.03! HTC Desire.

Good Product This is a great product for the Android system. The server is easy to setup and is free. The only downside is the streaming speed over 3G. Granted this appears to be no fault of the Plex system, but it is still an annoyance. The interface is clean and intuitive. Another plus, server side, is the ability of the server to do the cover art and meta info scraping on it's own. It does require tweeking but is still about 98% efficient. Would definitely recommend this app to anyone running a Plex server.

Awesome!! I have this app for my Roku and tablet. I love it. It occasionally has an isue with certain movies but I think thats just the encoding of the movie. I re-encode with Handbrake and it works perfectly.

Some issues but works well. New update works for galaxy tab but no video on hd-material on my x10. Those with no video, I resolved problem by setting video quality to 1.5 Mbit.

plays HD great, no subtitle support This is the best media streaming app I have found (and I have tried them all). No other media app can stream 1080p HD without crashing, while Plex plays it like a champion. However, there is NO subtitle support, not even an option for it, unless they are hardcoded into the video. For that reason, they lose a star. Sorry! Other than that, Plex is the best out there and I recommend it to everybody!

New Update is not worth and not working Updated both Windows Media Server application to ver 9.5 and Android application. Just not working. Created myplex account, server set up, published server, router got cofigured and shows in upnp, but client is not able to connect. Browsing on client is taking forever to get list of server ... dont know what is wrong. (Router has entry as 32400 int port and 10041 as ext port). Dont understand this and how to make it work. Had to restore old version on both Windows PC and Android... ..

disappointing not as well done as it's ios counterpart, which streams smoother, and with less interruption. The difference is huge and apparent. I can start the same video 30 seconds after on my iphone 4 and get through the credits while the a100 i have is still buffering:/

Picture size issue With the last couple of updates, whenever I try to skip forward or back in the show / movie being watched, the picture comes back zoomed in. It continues to zoom in as you skip further. No option that I can see to get it back to normal size, aside from restarting the episode / movie, which is very annoying if you've watched half way in already. The interface, on the other hand, is getting better every time, very responsive, but does loose your Server settings if you have to FC!

Excellent Media Solution With the Windows launch of the player, I have near perfect integration between my computers and phone. Sometimes it's a bit clunky and the server can freeze up, but overall very good. The recent updates have improved performance.
