This is a wonderful app. Some reviews state it is great and give it one star. The description says limited repeat transactions in lite version. It is just as the description claims it is. It is a bit slow on start up as it reloads your database. I have 3.5 years of data for 3 accounts. Takes about 2-3 seconds to load up one account and ready to use. But, for those of us with multiple accounts, we just wait a few more seconds and get the one we want. If you have only one account or don't need the power, get one of the lesser apps. I have it set to show my current actual balance AND show my current reconciled balance(Yes, both balances at the same time at the bottom) with the bank. So, when I verify my cleared transactions, I get the current reconciled balance with the bank and can verify I am current without running different menus or displays. IF you update the software, either backup your data first or update with itunes on the phone. Several are losing data by updating apps with iTunes on the desktop. If you are moving over from Palm, it is a little different, but you will appreciate the power compared to the other apps.

I had the same problem but once I contacted support, quickly resolved the issue- all I had to do is change a setting and reimport file.

The light feature does have splits. The wireless backup is very nice. I'm using Splasmoney. I wish Quicken was available. This one tempts me to try the complete version.

This update brings a numeric keypad for easier data entry. It really is the ONLY reason I haven't dumped by other bank app for this one. The other reviewer having issues with repeating transactions, it seems that has been solved too, but quite awhile back. This LITE version very clearly states you are limited to two repeating transactions. For me, that's enough, as is the two account limit. Now with the numeric keypad, it's perfect! I can export my data and import into iBank, and vice versa. THANKS!

This version is for 2.0. Didn't expect the 2.1 to come out when I decided to write this but if there's no negatives on the new version then this review will stand. I've tried the demos on some of the other financial apps and this one just seems to be the most intuitive and makes sense to me without confusing me with the details while giving me everything I'm looking for. Main things are ease of tracking all types of accounts including banking, credit, and cash, being able to track receivables and payables as well as transactions between the accounts themselves which was very important to me. You can also tab if a transaction has cleared, good for keeping track of whether transactions have real gone through or not. The ability to track your budget is really icing on the cake; I didn't need it but it works so well I can tell I'm going to be using it. I've already bought the full version and giving it a full workout. If you're looking for a full featured accounting app, definitely give this a try.

This is a great app, and I love that it can turn sideways, but it's way too advanced for me.

Importing files (rather than tirelessly inputting transactions manually) drew me to try out this application. March 2009 became December 1969... with all other transactions behind those. I swear I wasn't using credit cards in '69. The "budgets" screen just plain doesn't work. even when I do scroll back to see my spending "back in the 60s."

I just downloaded this app about 30 minutes ago and already I am so pleased. I only need the two accounts that the lite version limits you to, but more importantly, I needed currency conversion because my main account is in Japanese yen and I still have an account back home in US dollars. It was so difficult finding an App that would give currency options. PocketMoney is awesome for me, mad thanks to the developer for giving me the ability to easily and conceniently manage my expenditures!

I downloaded this STRICTLY to try to add recurring transactions.. Seeing as this doesn't work I have to give it a two. The first review saysit does work but it sure doesn't. When you try to save the recurring transaction it doesn't save.and this isn't because of the limit because you can't even make one!

Free version stops any repeat transactions. You have to delete the app to re-enter!

The author has been creating versions of this program since the early 1990s, starting with the Apple Newton PDA. He is a very reliable and conscientious programmer. It's nice to see that he's made PocketMoney available for the iPhone! With this one you get a tried and true app and developer.

I just downloaded this app. But every time I press account button and tried to add transaction, it just return to my desktop... I'm using touch 3G with 2.2.1 firmware. Is that a bug or it just not surport?

i love this app! its very useful and the lite version us all that i need but how do i create reports and charts? im more interested in the charts...

Slowslowslow... What a slow program is..

Took a few minutes to figure it out. I love it. I use it to track my budget categories like my allowance and my husband's. Can enter expenditures on the run. The lite version is all I need so hopefully it will stay free.

This is a great program. Much better than the one I already paid $3 for. Very intuitive and contains advanced functionality not typically included in free program. My only concern is the developers statement in the deaceiption about "testing" this program. I hope that in 30 days I'm not going to be forced to upgrade to the paid edition. I'd gladly pay a few bucks for this program. I don't need anything elaborate enough to spend $10.

Update 2.1 : This version has done away with the 2 lines so you can see cleared and available balance at the same time. 2.0 was better :(

I really like this app, simple to use, easy to navigate. I have only a small issue with the update: when looking at transactions, there is only one showing 'filtered balance'. I liked being able to see both the cleared and available much better! Please, bring this back!

Update 2.2: As the description says, the bugs are fixed. It is much improved. It is not mentioned, but it loads faster and performs a bit faster than the 2.1 for me.

Of all the budget management softwares i've seen this is the better one of all .. However It'd be much better if there was a feature that allows us to draw pie charts or/and bar graphs.. overall again .. Great app! :)

Overall, a very nice, functional application, but, can be even better. QIF export crashes for all but US locales. Default categories cannot be deleted, they come back on restarting the application. Cannot select the top options from tools in landscape mode (does not scroll). Would be nice to have an account type and fields relevant for investment accounts like mutual funds/Stocks (NAV, units etc). Integration with the address book to select payees, enter account phone numbers/sites would be nice to have. Option to show account balances in a different color even when the spend is under the limit, instead of the same color with a minus sign. The budgeting could suggest a budget value based on entered transactions for the selected duration (monthly/yearly). Maybe someway of budgeting for investments that would require a certain amount of savings across the budget. Would be nice to have some examples document in the manual as to how/when to use/add classes/categories/payees, specially for first time adopters. Perhaps, an option to compact the db once in a while would be nice as also some mechanism of exporting all accounts/transactions/budgets with memos and import the same to re-create a fresh db to get the best possible performace.

Allows for only two accounts to be set up. Totally useless and a means for you to purchase the paid version.

If you need more then two accounts stop bitching and buy the full version. I only have 1 so this app is great. And if I had more I would definitly pay for the full version.

This app has many positive features; however, it uses the notoriously unstable SyncDocs to import/export data... making it more of an island for many, where transactions can never be exported to the desktop... not good enough.

Just wanted to say that the trial version for this app is very very limited. You can't try it out enough to decide whether or not to buy it.

How can anyone give a 1-star rating to a FREE app that works? I just don't get it. Anyway, I use this as a checkbook to keep from accidentally overdrawing my account. It's perfect for that; I don't use it for anything else or sync it with my laptop. My only wish is that the Lite version would permit splitting of items. If you buy $10 of groceries and get $10 cash at the same time you cannot split the transaction. I live by this app.

I disagree with the previous reviewer who said this trial app does not give you enough features to help you decide whether you want to buy the full app. For me, it gave me exactly what I wanted to know, and I did end up buying the full app. Also, the developer was responsive to a query I posted on the app's board, even though I had not yet purchased the full app.

There are so many stupif useless money apps... But only this one is legit

I want a tool that makes the commonest use-case FAST: entering an expense. I don't want to have to choose am account each time. I don't want to have to navigate through the app to find the form enter the details. I don't want to have to save and confirm a dozen times. I want to start the app, enter the amount and maybe who it was paid to, and close the app because I'm done.
