A recent update to an application called Police Scanner got my attention to the app. Although it’s been out since March of this year, I’ve never seen it. With over 100,000 apps in the App Store I’m not sure now that happens. /sarcasm I checked out the app and read that I could check out if stations were available in my area before I purchased the app. You just visit radioreference.com and you can find your area. Awesome for me because city, county and highway patrol are all available in my area. A great feature of this app is the near me option. Over the past week or so, we've heard about a number of new apps that "tune you into" streaming police, fire, and emergency medical service radio services. Apps like this can be useful to volunteer firefighters, off-duty policemen, news crews, scanner enthusiasts, and the occasional ambulance-chasing lawyer. Best iPhone App Available

This app blew my expectations away. Who would have thought that this 1.99 app would be able to do what my 200$ police scanner does? This app gets almost all of the cities near me. It is fantastic. Bethlehem isn't working but other than that nearly every area works. Updates likely to give more city feeds will make it even better. I am always listening to this scanner on the go. This was the best purchase i have made in the appstore. Great for Volunteer fire fighters and anyone else who is curious whats going on in their area. There is a list of the cities the scanner picks up on Juicy Developments website.

4 Stars for now until I can set the EXACT zip code myself in settings because the app seems to be off by a few miles?? Once in a while it finds my zip code but more often it is off and when I set to my zip in settings and hit "GO" it does not change? As far as anyone who does not find the stream to their particular town or city do what I did and look up if your city streams before buying the app and then if not there send the stream details to app owners and they will add it to the data base , They did for mine and they reply very quickly which I find is a big plus as many app owners just ignore suggestions and or please for help. I think this app will only get better just give it some time.

I have been blown away by this application, it is well worth the $2.99. I would of bought this application for $10, it has a TON of cities, a lot of my local ones. They continuelly add new ones as they find them, so something I advise of is if the city you want to listen into is not on their list, check the list every now and then to see if they have added it. Otherwise it is an amazing app, I'm recommending it to my police training buddies. Thanks!

Fun App, Nice Idea, Not Perfect

App's usefulness is limited to the quality of the independent feeds. Most departments listed have several channels broadcasting per city (north district, south district, teletype, car to car, etc.), yet the app only offers one stream per city, which means that the streams are basically scanning across several channels stopping on active channels before moving on again. This means that you are not able to stop on one conversation, and only hear fragments of exchanges across several active frequencies. Tampa Police Department, for example has about eight channels for different parts if the city for just patrol use alone. But it is fun to listen to public safety freqs on my iPhone, and you can get a good overview of what kind of activity is going on around you.

I'll likely increase my rating if features are added and app is updated with regularity. Until then, it works as promised, but offers too little information on the agencies and frequencies one is listening to. The app description is laughable - few even know what a "crystal" is anymore, sine programmable scanners replaced crystals in the 1980s. Sadly, the interface looks like it was designed by someone who jumped straight from an old bearcat 4 channel crystal scanner to the iPhone, and missed 25 years of scanner features and development. That said, even though my local agecies are not yet available, I was able to receive feeds right away, the sound was good, and the interface (too) simple. Lots of potential for improvement, and worth 2 bucks today.

Probably one of my favorite apps...definately get it!!

If you are a law enforcement junky like myself, this app is alot of fun. I can listen to alot of the radio traffic from my own police department and all over the state, country, and for that matter, the world!! The only thing I could say that is not a bad thing but that it would be able to be able to work outside of wi-fi on edge. Other than that, it is awesome, I have heard so many interesting things all over the place and listen to it every day, I just wish I could enjoy it on the move... Developers: great job, cool idea and I can't wait for even more cool functions!! Customers: Buy it!! It is interesting to hear what goes on in your own neighborhoods :) Pt. 2 after new version, still love it, even better than last version, I like the newly organized views!! Kudos again!!
