Editor’s note: Contributor Brad Spirrison is the managing editor of mobile app discovery services Appolicious, AndroidApps and AppVee. After having looked into the best iOS apps and games of 2011, Spirrison now turns his attention to the best Android apps of the year. Android apps come in all shapes and sizes – literally. Unlike iOS applications, which are basically created for two form factors, Android apps need to be developed with dozens (if not hundreds) of device-types in mind. Amazon is launching a neat campaign to promote its Price Check mobile application. This Saturday (December 10th), the online retailer will give shoppers an added incentive to check the Amazon price on their mobile phone while in a physical retail store. Using the Price Check by Amazon app (available on iPhone and Android) while shopping in physical retail stores, customers will get an additional discount of 5% (up to $5) off Amazon’s price on up to three qualifying products. Not all products are eligible though — only the following categories are included under this scheme: electronics, toys, music, sporting goods and DVDs. All said, Amazon anticipates December 10th will be one of the biggest days of the year for Price Check. Finally, the announcement ends with a reminder that shoppers can also use Price Check to submit in-store prices, allowing all Amazon customers get the lowest prices year-round. Nice App but could be better I really like this App. I am always using it to check the prices of items I see in stores and compare it to the price on Amazon. One thing it is missing in the product info is the Amazon product rank. I think this is a really helpful information to have. Especially for someone who wanna sell these items on Amazon.

wish list? xoom; c'mon if we'renotgonna have the actual amazon app for tabs, at least add the "add to wish list" option here soI don't have to email myself. kinda silly...

Don't feel guilty . . . about using this app in your local brick and mortar. The last two times I used it it showed that the store had a better price than I could find on Amazon. Also, you might just decide to spend a little more and not have to wait for delivery. Product reviews can help you decide if that Gizmo 5000 is worth the extra bucks over the 4000, or if the Widget XTR is a better choice. Folder Organizer allows you to rename apps, so if you really want to change the name, check that app out.
